I didn't either, but I study French and in one of my text books, as an example, the name 'Monsieur Martin' was used, and this book never uses names except French ones. :shrug: :)

He probably learned his French in school. He did go to posh, private schools where they probably taught it on a regular basis from a young age. :) Oh, and Martin is a french last name, but I don't think he has a "french" background. I could be wrong, though. :shrug:
