Inspired by the kindness of a little girl !
Awwwwwwwww that was so sweet! :nice: I always wonder if the people around me usually care about those kind of things. Such as caring for other people's beings, being nice, etc. Because, honestly, I have no faith in people my age here at home. It just seems like everything is ME ME ME and no one cares about the others who need help. I try to be more aware of the world around me and give a helping hand. I love going to soup kitchens or wrapping gifts for little kids. I sure as hell am not a saint, but I'd to be a good person and help others. I guess at work I am doing a good thing. I mean, I'm not one of those kids who mope and say 'I hate life' but I actually work with a smile on my face and try to help up customers. Even at school, if I see a kid that's alone, I start wondering 'how come they are alone? They need a friend!' and I start being friendly towards them. Much so, in fact, that I ended up liking one of the guys that I started being nice to. :stunned: Needless to say nothing worked out, but he's a good friend now. :) I love being there for him and making him feel comfortable. This is probably a perfect time for this thread. I mean, of course gratitude and niceness is welcomed all year 'round, but there's something about the holidays that invokes good feeling and warm-heartedness. :nice: I plan on baking lots of goodies for teachers, friends, and family! This actually reminds me of the movie 'Amelie', and how after she finds that man's childhood treasures she's inspired to change other people's lives. :nice: I'd like to think of myself as an Amelie.

Discuss Your Philosophy and The Way You Think
I use a lot of Murphy's Law for everything. But basically, I don't think. Everything I do I usually do by instinct. Which is probably not that good, but oh well.

Not even cute at all. Okay, maybe the red one was half decent but really.....not cute. I guess I know why they didn't cone bone.

She sooooo was a lesbo. It was so obvious! I think it would have made me feel better if she came out. Haha. Didn't they have a boy version of the Powerpuff Girls too? I always imagined that they'd all cone bone each other eventually...sad it never happened.

Can you do this derivative????
I think I see it too; I used the chain rule when it wasn't needed, I think.
-
Can you do this derivative????
You worried me for a minute, Simon, I thought you were turning into another person...:P
-
Can you do this derivative????
Hmmm I see. I guess I could try the product rule with it, but I'll have to see. I guess I'm not as advanced into it with logarithms, because I never did derivatives with logs. Like I said, I suck at math. Just thought I could help. And damn, Simon, there's nothing wrong with him asking here....
-
Can you do this derivative????
Oooh did I? Could you explain it a little bit? :curtain: I probably did screw up, haha.
-
Can you do this derivative????
Are you in Calculus, Mig-El? I don't remember using logarithms to find derivatives...unless there is such thing as taking a derivative of a logarithm...which I haven't done yet so whoops. :P Haha thanks, Lore, but I don't think I helped. I might be talking about a completely different thing.
-
Can you do this derivative????
Haha yeah well I hate calculus. :P
-
Can you do this derivative????
If you need the second derivative, then tell me and I'll have an explanation of that as well if you need it. :P
-
Can you do this derivative????
*exhale* okay, here it goes: So you start out with the original problem. You want the derivative, right? 1. Another way to write the square root of x is x to the 1/2 power. This will make getting the derivative easier. 2. Since the x is now in parentheses when I put it in the 1/2 power, it is an indication of using the chain rule. You probably already know what that is, but you multiply the 1/2 with the first x, and subtract 1 from the exponent. So now it's 1/2x (x) to the -1/2 power. Along with that, you have to multiply the whole thing with the derivative of the x in the parentheses, which is 1, so nothing changes. 3. I rewrote it so that the answer would be a fraction...1/2x turns into x/2....and since anything with a negative exponent goes into the denominator....it turns back to the square root, but in the bottom. So the answer would be x/2 square root x.... ...I think. I hope that makes sense and I hope it's right. You'll have to tell me haha. Oh, and sometimes teachers don't like it when the radicals are in the denominator (I don't care, it's more work for me...:P) But at the bottom I simplified it more so that there's no radical at the bottom...but if that's not important then don't worry about it. Geez, I suck at math, haha. But I hope I was right!
