No, get a bassist that knows what he's doing. A good bassist that had/have lessons or that thaught himsleft proper to play it. And like people saying: Bass is almost same as guitar and it's easier than guitar.. ignore that nonsense.. It's totaly different and not easy at all, well, if you play it the right way.

Get another bassist is the best option. If he won't make time to learn to play the songs proper.... Let everybody learn the song on their own at home. So when you practice with the band you only have to put it together. Find a room with some more space to practice,Isn't there a place where you can hire practice rooms for a few hours?
