  1. just finished listening to my mix. Here's my review Track 1: This song starts off as very ambient and slow moving. The atmospheric sounds sound really great so far, very dark. Then guitars come in more and more and the song slowly picks up. The drums then kick in and the whole mood of the song feels different. The song is a nice way to open this mix up. I'm surprised that no vocals have entered the song yet, but I think it works well with the mood of the song. I picture almost crashing waves or a boat caught in a violent storm something intense happening. Track 2: Opens with some electronic noises, of blips. The song then automatically changes into synths with a drum beat. The song itself is catchy. The vocals then come in. They sound good, and work well. I think it's a male vocalist, though it's slightly hard to tell. The song itself is very catchy. It then breaks into I guess a chorus that is really catchy and the melody is great! This song makes me want to move around but not in a crazy dance way, but just moving your head back and forth. I really like this song a lot. This song is one of the highlights. Track 3: The song starts off with some drums and then dark sounding vocals with a good bass. The song then moves more and makes you want to move around with the drums and catchy melody. Then comes in this fuzz guitar sound that sounds really good. The song is very catchy, and to me seems like the kind of song I could imagine listening to while driving in the car. Track 4: The song opens with an organ. The drums come in with the vocals. Not extremely impressed initially. Sounds a lot like a song from the 80's to get a crowd pumped up for a show or something. The chorus is kind of catchy, but I'm not a huge fan of the song, though once again there's this sort of synth bass that I really like. As the song progress I sort of find the backing vocals to be really annoying. Track 5: The track opens with some electronic drums. Then it's weird because it turns into a song that has acoustic guitar and bass. The bass sounds really good. Then there's some french singing! I'm interested to know who this is. The song itself feels kind of nostalgic, and I don't know if it's the melody of the song or the french singing which sort of reminds me of traveling to Montreal. I really like this song a lot. I think the arrangement is really nice. The piano sounds really great. I'm really interested to know who this is. This one is definitely one of the highlights of the mix so far. Track 6: The song opens with some really beautiful sounding acoustic guitar playing. Then comes in the drums with vocals. The vocals sound familular. I think it is Damien Rice, though I could be wrong. I really like the vocals in this song and the backing vocals sound really great too. The song itself seems kind of sad, but also uplifting too, especially when the song picks up a little bit. the arrangement of the song is really great, and the strings really get me. It works well with the rest of the song. Track 7: The song opens with drums, bass and electric piano. From the previous song this is a nice change of pace to have something more upbeat. The vocals come in, but I'm not sure what I think of this one. I do like how I guess during the chorus, there's a single guitar strum. This song with the vocals reminds me a lot of Hey Rosetta! even though I know it isn't them. The drums are good in this song. Track 8: The song immediately sounds like it's from the 80's with the drums, bass and guitar. Initially I thought it might be U2. Then the vocals come in and it'definitely isn't them. Not really sure that I like this song much. To me as the song progresses it sort of sounds like it might be a metal song, though it isn't. It's the vocals that make it that way I think. The middle part sounds good with the piano and guitar. I sort of wish the song continued on in that direction. Track 9: The song opens with a rolling kind of electronic sound. It reminds me of daft punk. Then the instruments come in. The song sounds like a great late night song. I like the airyness of the song. The vocals are okay. The song feels like it could be from the 80's, though it seems more recent. I do like the song though. The overall arrangement and mood of it is nice. As the song continues it really grows on me. I really like it. Definitely one of the highlights. Track 10: The song opens with a backwards sounding instrument. And then comes in with vocals with piano. I really like the closeness of the vocals and also the piano too. The song is really nice sounding so far! It seems like a really nice sounding song not only with the delicate vocals but piano too. The whole mood of the song is really great. I love this song. It is definitely one of my favorites on the mix. Track 11: the song opens with some bass, and synths that coming in shortly after, but they may actually be guitars. The song then opens up with drums and vocals. I like the song. At first impression I didn't like the direction the song was heading or where I imagined it heading. I thought the drums were going to be really faster, but the drums work very nicely in this song. The vocals are really good too, and work really great with the song. I really like the song, it's very catchy. Another highlight of the mix. Track 12: The song opens up with acoustic guitar, harmonica and tambourine. The song immediately seems like it'll be a great sing along song. The vocals come in and wow… the harmonies are great! They sound so good! Once again this is another nostalgic sounding song. I can imagine it being set to the end of a show season, or some happy end scene of a movie. I really like this song a lot. I know that there's one track after this, but at least at this point, to me this song sounds like it'd be a perfect way to end a mix. The song is very uplifting. Track 13: Well it's the last song of the mix. The song starts up with some catchy drums, and acoustic guitar. The vocals come in and are okay. It seems like it could be a reggae kind of song. I do like the subtlties of the percussion in the background. When the chorus comes in it definitely seems very reggae-ish. It's very catchy and a happy song. This is definitely a nice choice to end a mix. Overall I really enjoyed the mix. There were a few songs I wasn't crazy about, but nothing that I hated. There were some really great songs on this mix though . I also liked how I didn't recognize any artists (well except maybe damien rice). I'm really excited and curious to see who made my mix and what the tracklisting is. Highlights: 2, 5, 9-13

  7. thats a pretty good turn out! 41 tapes and only 3 missing
  8. email just came from the band about the new single...
  9. My list is definitely not for their best songs. My list is more just what songs I enjoy the most.
  10. yeah good idea. i will be putting down who's playlist is who's, especially for the voting choices, and keeping a close eye... so no one will be able to get by and vote for their own.
  11. yes yes yes briggs... thanks to you.
  12. the new single is now available on TKOL site, when you go to track your order
  13. yeah ...well i'll talk to greg about it and we'll figure it out.
  14. oh people will definitely be able to vote on the lists. Depending how many we get it'll be like 3 threads or something of say 4 different lists. Then who ever wins that thread will face the winners of the other threads. I still have to talk to Greg though for voting. I mean I think it will be okay to vote for your own but i have to see. either way we'll figure out the voting scheme and then post the rules on it when the time comes.
  15. I'd say go from #1 (your favorite) to #15 (least favorite of your favorites)
  16. [ame= ] [/ame] "He's a worrier, a worrier... here's a little bitch coming out of him."
  17. making a youtube playlist is really simple. I can walk you guys through it step by step. First you need to have a youtube account. Then all you have to do is go to the video you want first in the playlist. Under the video itself click on the arrow next to "Add to". Then click on "New Playlist..." and then you can name a playlist. So the first video will be added to that. Then from there you just go to each subsequent video and then click on that arrow again next to add to but this time click on the playlist you added. And that's pretty much it! And if you want to edit the order or whatever you just have to go into like account settings and it'll let you.
  18. Here are some stripped down acoustic/piano versions of my songs if people are interested in listening: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=0D28734D33C45709
  19. a song? after listening to these songs I really want to record these songs and get them to sound great!
  20. i won't post a link to the playlist to show it in full... i'm going to post the link to just the first video so you don't know who it is.
  21. well you can change it if you like to a more accurate order. you still have until wednesday to do so
