13-Nov-08: Kansas City - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos [originally 09-Jul]
This is my first chance at a computer in two days, so I thought I'd say that the Kansas City show was awesome. I wasn't much for Sleepercar as openers, but I thought Jon Hopkins' act was impressive. The video that went along with his live mixing was pretty cool. We had seats in the middle of the first section on the floor, and it was definitely closer than I expected. When they did the techno God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, they moved over right in front of us, and we ran up to the edge of the extended stage. I was standing right in front of the piano and directly below little 7 year old Pablo. That was so cool of Chris to talk to him! He commented on how Pablo would one day be a bigger pop star than Coldplay and The Jonas Brothers. That last one got a huge reaction from the crowd. I loved Glass of Water, and I had downloaded a bootleg when it first came around, so I was ready to sing. That scathing review by Jason Harper a few pages back was unfair. The only person not smiling by the end of the night was Guy, which he doesn't seem too fond of doing lately. I thought Johnny really got into it, and did a great job. And I am constantly amazed at the way reviewers slip in comments about Gwyneth, Apple and Moses, but don't actually talk about Coldplay's music. But they can throw in a few comparisons to U2 and Radiohead. All in all, the night was fantastic. And I am many, many butterflies the richer.

Why does Hollywood think you're gay if you like Coldplay?
From what I've read so far, there's been a lot of blame thrown on Hollywood, but I think it runs deeper than that. I think it's society as a whole that should be blamed. Obviously not everyone, because if there's one absolute, it's that there are no absolutes. If we didn't live in a close minded world, qualities such as sex, race, religion, sexuality, etc. wouldn't be an issue and jokes about these subjects wouldn't appeal to anyone. And I'm not sure how to fix that just yet.

Coldplay songs in movies
Garden State. Don't Panic is an awesome opening song. Once again, a Zach Braff film. He has awesome taste in music, and the soundtrack to that movie is proof.

Postcards From Far Away mp3s!
I'd like to apologize for making extra threads about the song, but I wanted the first post to have the downloads without any trouble. ;) I'm a sub novice when it comes to piano, so instead of playing the music out, I put it all down in Finale and then exported it as a midi. I converted the midi to an mp3 in Garageband. Since there's no way of knowing the key, I used C Major for the sake of ease. There's two tempos, 70 bpm and 120. It's obviously not the whole song, and it's all chopped up because the wallpaper cuts off in the middle. But it's better than nothing! :laugh3: Hope everyone enjoys! :) 70 bpm http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?somlmyocvxm 120 bpm http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jyim3ijbmhi Edit: Oops! Somehow I didn't notice the peddle wasn't down for half the song. Excellent testing I suppose. :stunned: I would suggest redownloading if yours sounds choppy. Sorry.

[Daily Mail] Are Coldplay the worst thing that's happened to rock?(ADD YOUR COMMENT!)
We are fans. Well put. :stunned: We also have opinions. You have us again. Coldplay just so happens to catch a lot more flack than Oasis, so your example isn't very effective. I myself am not a mindless music fan, or however you want to label me. It would just be nice to see a critic of Coldplay actually slag them off for pertinent reasons, not just because of who Chris is married to. Or how much you think they're like Radiohead. That has nothing to do with Coldplay's music. Do you really think you need to tell us these things dcbc? Isn't it a waste of time to tell us "nonobjective fans" how to behave? :laugh3: Edit: Haha! I was thinking the same thing Saffire.

I'm not usually the kind of person who comments on those articles, but I was feeling a bit feisty this afternoon. :sneaky: I thought I'd share.

Do NOT lead into Temptation!
It still seems soooo far away. :sad2: Getting on the board doesn't help AT ALL. I made a pact with my friend that we would listen to it together on the 17th. It takes a lot of the pressure off because we are anticipating it together. That, and if I did listen to it behind her back, she would literally kill me. :laugh3:

The World Turned Upside Down - lyrics, Sergio Mello?
The lyrics to this song are driving me insane! :furious2: Has anyone figured them out yet? I have spent the better part of an hour analyzing it, and I've got nothing. It sounds like Chris is saying tecks-i-key-ah or something. I don't think the lyrics involve Sergio Mello, but it was hilarious to hear his name fit right in.

American Coldplayers On\ly!
I'm pretty anxious about the whole thing too. I don't understand why the album is coming out five whole days after the UK. Are they shipping them by boat? I could fully understand one day, or maybe two, but five? I agree, it's like the album is wrapped in secrecy, but they expect us to wait a week longer. That's a lot to ask when the majority of us have grown accustomed to living in a world of instant gratification. I don't like torrenting music, because I find it dishonest and it cheats hard working musicians out of their money. Or their labels "hard" earned money. ;) I'm sure that anyone on this board that downloads it early will buy the album anyway. Wouldn't it be great to download this early and get slapped with a big ol' lawsuit by the RIAA?

Viva la Vida (song) = Beautiful...?
You sound so bitter, low76. There is no sense arguing over something so opinionated and personal as music. There's also no logic in being combative, and that goes for everyone. If you don't like it, you don't like it. Move on. If you love it, great. Nobody can win an argument over stylistic changes or whether someone's music is good or bad. Change is inevitable, however.
