The studio (and the previous live) versions of God Put a Smile/Talk are great and were definitely not "filler" songs on their respective albums or previous live shows. I was saying these new techno/shortened B-stage versions feel like filler songs because they're harder to sing along to, they're a lot noisier (and "techno" which just isn't Coldplay), and obviously because they're shorter. If they had just stayed on the main stage and played the full versions of each, they would have been better, is all I'm saying. When I said Glass of Water, Strawberry Swing, and Lost! (I should have added Violet Hill to this list) didn't translate well live, I wasn't talking about the song quality, I thought they were all great. It was just obvious they were not fan favorites for whatever reason and I could have told you that before the show (maybe not Violet Hill, I was a little surprised that one fell a little flat with the crowd) - why not Shiver, Everything's Not Lost, Trouble, Amsterdam? Those are guaranteed fan favorites... and all fantastic live songs. I understand playing new material but if you treat Prospekt's March and Viva La Vida as a double album (which they pretty much are) take away Lost+ and LIJ remix because those aren't new - they played 12 of the 16 songs... which was also over half of the concert. Maybe I'm biased because I love Parachutes so much and I pretty much like the albums in order in the way they were released except I'd put VLV ahead of X&Y, but still... seems like a bit overkill to me. And it kind of feels like you're forgetting the older fans a bit too if you're catering to the new fans so much. And with Glass of Water and Strawberry Swing especially, the new songs weren't exactly exciting to the newer fans anyways. I don't want to become one of those fans who is never happy with a setlist just because there was an exact list of songs that I wanted to be played and if they're not, then I'm pissed - I've seen way too much of that with hardcore U2 fans and it kind of takes the fun away from seeing a band if all you're concerned about is what songs they did or didn't play. So don't get me wrong, I loved the concert last night and I thought it was very entertaining, I just wanted to give a little different perspective other than how close I was to touching Chris or if I got a setlist from a roadie or not. I just also wanted to point out to the new fans who just made it to their first show - that as amazing as they were last night, they actually can be even better! Anybody else that went to 2005 as well have a comparison between the two? I'd love to hear it.

I understand that if this is your first Coldplay show, it was probably the coolest thing in the world... because seeing Coldplay is always going to be awesome. But I thought they were better when I saw them last in Raleigh, in 2005. The B and C stage concept is cool but God Put A Smile/Talk feel like filler songs, Green Eyes/Death feel way too short, and with all the time it takes to get between each stage - I'd rather them just stay on the main stage and play 2 or 3 more full songs. Billie Jean was pretty cool though, I must say. Some of the songs didn't translate live as well as I'd hoped - Lost, Strawberry Swing, Glass of Water in particular. And even though they played for almost 2 hours, it felt like a short concert because of the already mentioned time in between stage changes, and how the setlist was so planned, songs never really ended... they just kind of went right into another. Coldplay is still awesome and it was still a really great show, I just wanted to offer up an opinion of something different than "OMG I LOVE COLDPLAY AMAZING SHOW" Oh, and Elbow was fantastic... Grounds for Divorce is such a kickass tune.

well if Parachutes is your favorite Coldplay album like it is mine.... you will probably be disappointed with the setlist

roll call me and my bro will be in section 7, row S - not as close as I wanted, but at least we're center kind of disappointing to pay almost $30 more a ticket than when they came a couple of years ago, but sit like 15 rows further back

Yeah, that's what I decided to do as well. They were selling the furthest $97 seats possible

So.... let me get this straight. Some of you know from experience or from others that you actually get better seats through the general sale rather than a presale? I don't get that.

Oh well, to me... Death and all of His Friends is more of a listening album rather than a sing-along album, which is the biggest reason I like Coldplay so much -- I like to turn it up loud and my car and sing to it, there isn't as much of that in the newer album than there is in the other ones. What Eno mentioned as their biggest flaws (same "tricks," too repetitive, too long) are some of things that I enjoyed the most... I understand bands have to reinvent themselves at some point or they'll become boring -- and while I appreciate the new stuff and think its still really good, I just prefer the older stuff on a long-term

For everybody that's rating every song a 10 and saying this is the best ever.... Listen to all 4 in a row and tell me which is more enjoyable. I love the new one but the re-play value of the others is far greater IMO (yes even X&Y; I don't know why it gets all the hate, there are some fantastic songs on there)

:35-:40 of the song sounds like it's skipping to me, hopefully that's how it's supposed to be and not my cd

if it was such a negatively slanted interview, why didn't Will stand up for Chris/the band when Chris left? I think Chris just took something personally that Will obviously didn't. That doesn't mean the interviewer is "mean" or "has no integrity." He's probably just feeling the pressure of all the interviews and whatnot

I don't think there was anything wrong with the interview at all. Chris just seemed really defensive from the beginning. You could tell it caught Will off-guard as well. Actually, I thought the questioning was pretty interesting

The piano part at the end could be made into a very cool outro/transition to another song

yeah I saw them in Raleigh, I guess they'll come to the RBC Center this time if they're playing indoor shows Bobcats Arena in Charlotte is also a possibility, I would prefer Raleigh though

why is everybody so confident they'll add more dates? I'm so pissed they're not coming to NC, I don't want to drive to freaking Atlanta

I was surprised at hearing the Coldplay song in it so I can't remember much of it, but it was just a bunch of quick highlights and I do remember Ronaldo being it, but that's it

They haven't shown it again, but considering how ESPN usually makes one soccer commercial and plays it nonstop for months, I'm sure we'll see plenty of the commercial in the next few months
