  5. Started by nann2981,

I'm having a lot of trouble, to figure out, what the REAL lyrics to the song "Cemetries of London".. I got the album, but there's no lyrics In which lyrics the song is: and the night over London lay So we rode down to the river where victorian ghosts pray for their curses to be broken OR and the night over London Lane so we rode down to the river where toiling ghosts spring for the curses to be broken AND A NEW PART We go wandering 'neath the arches where the witches are and they say there is ghost towns in the ocean OR We go underneath the arches where the witches are in the saying there is ghosttowns in the ocean

I have a question and hope someone can help me with it, I recently listened to the Absolute podcast and was wondering if anyone knows what Chris was referring to when Ben talked about Cemetaries of London and Chris said Guy has an interesting story about the song, Guy then says I can't tell that one again. What story? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks

if this thread has already opened forgive me but, i feel uncomfortable about this song's lyric now. what do you think, what is the point of this song?

I wonder how they'll play this song live.....it's almost 100% electronic.

  9. Feel free to merge if this has already been done, or if you think it should be in the 'Cemeteries' thread. Does anyone else think Chris is writing about the terrorist bombings a couple of years ago?? Again, sorry if this has been posted, but look at the lyrics and the news footage, and you'll see what I mean!! I think he's done the ultimate merging of his personal and political sentiment here...Just me, or what??

I read somewhere (perhaps in this forum) that there's something akin to a riddle in this song. I recall reading several posts where people were saying that once you get the riddle to this song, a buzzer goes off in your mind and you have an "aha" moment. I'm wondering if this is a commonly held view? I've been trying to parse the lyrics to have my epiphany, but I haven't had a decisive moment with it. I have a hint of what it might be, but if I go too far with my analysis, I'm afraid it might ruin the moment of discovery for someone else. If you're one of those who've "gotten it", please PM me and we'll compare notes. I'm trying to be careful not to spoil it for s…

How come Coldplay hasn't played this one live yet? It would be a hell of a live song, but I haven't seen it on any one of their set lists so far and I'm getting worried  I was looking forward to this one...

i can't get over the feeling that this song sounds like it could come out in a pirate movie like Pirates Of the Caribbean,.. anyone else agree?

  16. The news channel Russia Today (english speaking) have been using the little piano motif from the end of Cemeteries Of London randomly when showing certian parts of their rolling newsreel. I was just watching some footage of Georgian shels heading out over the night sky, some shots of tanks in the streets, things on fire and loads of other various pictures and the piano part just plays after each little story. Bit odd. If you have the channel (Sky Channel 512 in the UK) watch it - it's strange.

  18. "Cemeteries" reminds me a little of "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" by Simon and Garfunkle. I realize I'm showing my age a bit. The notes of the melodies of the two songs have a similar feel.

Here we go again guys... (thanks for the parcial lyrics, felicote :)) I made some edits in felicote's lyrics. As usual, underscores means I don't know, (???) means I'm not sure of it, square brackets means another possiblity.

  20. The song "Riders on the Storm" by The Doors. Do you guys agree? It just has kind of a haunting feeling to it, the same feeling as Riders on the Storm.
