t’s now several years since the LP was released worldwide, so high time we had another go at ‘Survivor’ – if only to see if our tastes have changed since the last LP. For those of you not familiar with this, basically in each round, you choose a song from Parachutes (Japan. vers) to vote OFF – i.e. your least favorite. After 2 days, the song with the most votes gets booted, and we move on to the next round on until we’re left with the most popular song on the LP, as voted by you. The magazine will require a $5 (US) subscription fee. Artists are paid for their contributions, but half of the subscription proceeds go directly to The Global Fund. The Killers, Elton John and Neil Tennant from The Pet Shop Boys joined forces on the Christmas tune Joseph, Better You Than Me. John Legend recorded a cover of Bob Marley's Redemption Song. And U2, recorded their contribution " just last Wednesday". (RED)WIRE founder Don MacKinnon (former music VP at Starbucks) told Billboard he expects another big name collaborator: rtists are already saying, 'I want to give you a track for those people who brought friends in. That's the biggest idea: using social networking to actually change the world in a unique way..I had a meeting with Jay-Z, and he wants to talk about artists to be featured in that spotlight slot. Big artists may curate an issue. The whole goal was to create a creative platform. When somebody says, 'I do all this photography and I want to put it in as an extra,' that's when I go, this is going to be really cool."
