A Note On Chris' Voice
After listening to the album I wouldn't say you can't notice it. It is certainly still in the forefront. That being said, it doesn't carry the same weight as it did on their prior LP's. Everything blends into musical genius with perfect balance, IMO. I think they succeeded in doing what they wanted with the album, while keeping the focus on Coldplay rather than CM. With that being said, I'd love to see an acoustic album down the road.

A Note On Chris' Voice
There's been a ton of grumbling as to why Chris' voice sounds so overproduced on Mylo Xyloto. For years Chris has tried to prevent Coldplay from turning into "The Chris Martin Show". I think he finally found a way to do this by making his vocals one of the various instruments used to tell a story. While we all love the old formula (which places raw vocals on top of the music), the band has finally found a way to create an album that puts everyone equally in the spotlight. Thoughts?

ETIAW Video out now!!
crazyitalian1988 replied to IneedYou23's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)Chris looks like he just got back from a pride parade. not that there's anything wrong with that...but the hearts and mannerisms were a little over the top if you ask me.

VLV Video...soon?
yeah, august is WAY to late. I think they could keep VLV up there for a few more weeks with a killer video. Just think of all the television time it would get. Then they could release another single in a few weeks. LIJ & Lost! should be singles and one needs to be released relatively soon. Heck, I'd even release SS at some point!

VLV Video...soon?
Hey guys. I've been busy with work and haven't been able to keep updated. Similarly, after a quick search, I have seen no updated information about a VLV video or any other song video. Are we going to get one? I know it's not an official single, but how can music television programs play the song if there is no video? The last I hear there was a set date to shoot. Can anyone update me / everyone else who's wondering. -Thanks!

Viva la vida is an absolute disappointment
Funny you should mention that. I was just traveling back from vacation. During this time I was able to listen to all four albums all the way through. For me, I think listening to parachutes and AROBTTH again brought back memories and also furthered my appreciation for the band. While X&Y is still my least favorite, it was a pretty good album. However, I still think VLVODAAHF is their best work to date. I never get tired of listening to it nor do I have the urge to skip a track. Maybe it's because its still new; however, I don't remember saying this of the old albums. VLV is perhaps one of my favorite albums ever, even if it isn't as epic as people thought it would be. And yes, musicmad or whatever his name was shouldn't have received all that crap, but what was he thinking. He posted a poorly orchestrated first post dissing the album most everyone here is currently enjoying. We've heard his views before and they should be placed in the appropriate thread. Nuff said...

Viva la vida is an absolute disappointment
There are very few people that would agree with that Parachutes and AROBTTH were "Blockbusters". Granted, their worst album X&Y was, but you have greatly misclassified them. I refuse to believe that anyone who was a fan of their first three albums would completely "HATE" VLVODAAHF. Rank it as your least favorite and you'll be questioned, say it is an absolute disappointment and be prepared to be verbally douched.

When is Viva La Vida going to get a video?
I guess we won't be getting a video then...:-(

The Official Opinions about the new album thread
I respect that you have an opinion, but lets examine your credibility here. I'm a new member and shouldn't be the one calling this out, but your registered name is letdown and 95% of your posts mention something negative about the album or how great radiohead is. You also don't rank Coldplay in your top five bands. My question to you is, why are you even a member of this forum if all you do is bash?

The Official Opinions about the new album thread
hmmm. I have to disagree with both of you. Parachutes and AROBTTH were both very chill albums full of great, simple beats and excellent vocals by Chris. They were awesome in their simplicity. X&Y tried to go for a more mainstream rock type and it was far too polished. Compared to the first two albums, it was a huge let down for me. VLVODAAHF is a major departure from both the simplistic coldplay and the polished. It sounds so different for me because of all the new instruments they decided to throw in as well as letting the music take priority over Chris' singing. I wouldn't call this experimentation artsy at all. If you enjoy the simplistic coldplay, then I can understand your disappointment; however, they guys have created an amazing fourth album by trying something different. We had two great albums of their old stuff and they realized that people were getting tired of it with X&Y. I think trying something new was the right decision and it payed off.

check out the iTunes international chart
I wish the singles charts had VLV listed higher in most countries. Does anyone think that Violet Hill would have been a bigger single if it wasn't released early? I just feel it was around for a while on the US charts and then didn't have the steam of the rest of the album to keep it around. Then again, it looks like its mostly the US that has forgotten about it so quickly.

check out the iTunes international chart
damn, that is quite impressive. Though, why is it that only the US and Canada list it as VLV rather than VLVODAAHF? Something about north America?

Coldplay accused of copying 'Viva La Vida' melody
Is that why you have a picture of radiohead in your signature? Kinda seems like you want people to get into an argument with you here. There is a minor similarity at best for one part of the song. That is all...

Cayman Island Release Date?
Hey guys. I'm heading to the Cayman Islands on Saturday and I was just wondering when VLV is going to be released there. It is a British Territory so I figured it could be out the 12th there; however, the rest of the world gets it the 16th (cept USA) so it might not be out until then...thats if it comes out on time there at all. Any speculations? Thanks.

ALL FANS... LETS STEP BACK AND RE-ASSESS
Well, for me, any album I listen to I usually have to play four or five times before I really understand and appreciate a song. It usually takes me that long to distinguish and know the names of those songs as well. VLVODAAHF is a completely different story. With one listen, I've immediately become memorized with its style and quality. Absolutely phenomenal. Question! While this album is all over the place with music styles, does anyone feel that because it flows so well together than its is just one entire song that must be listened to all the way through? It is very hard for me to rate each individual song as I think they all contribute equally to the album. Thought?

Much Better Rip Out There...Can You Tell The Difference?
I knew that these beats were amazing when I first listened to them; however, It was evident how all the instruments were kind of squashed together with Chris's lyrics on top....and not too sharp at that. This new 61MB rip sounds like crystal compared to the old one. I'm going to be on vacation the week of the USA release day, but this will definitely do. Can you hear the difference?

You are correct. I was watching a preview. Thanks for the correction. This must be the whole thing!

Yeah, if there is an hour episode airing, someone needs to record it. The website has only a few minutes of footage.

Viva La Vida / Violet Hill.....We Are Jaded?
So here is my biggest complain about the album other than I wish they just made it 13 tracks long rather than double tracking. I feel that because Viva La Vida and Violet Hill were released early, not only did I not realize how awesome the songs actually are when listening to the entire album, but they also are relatively overlooked in anyone's top songs. While I think the entire album is amazing, there is not a doubt in my mind that they are both in my top 5 out of 13, Viva La Vida facing off with "Yes" and "42" for my top spot. It was worth having the songs early to promote the hype, especially with such killer songs remaining; however, does anyone wish they could have heard Viva La Vida and Violet Hill for the fist time with the rest of the album?
