Hopefully now that the band arent bound by Parlophone they can let their imaginations run wild. Dont get me wrong all their albums have been different and creative but you cant help but feel, especially with the current climate of selling music (or failing to sell music), that they might have been told not to take too many risks. As long as theyre happy with what theyre doing im eager to see what they come out with. Im not asking for a Kid A type record but something weird / left field would be fun. Like the Blue Room version of Dont Panic maybe? That would be wicked!

The album is pretty i think. But nothing new and thats disappointing. Id love for Coldplay to totally change even though i know the money making machine that the band is will never be aloud to truly take any risks, maybe when they leave the label well see the music that they really wanted to make..

I know this is a coldplay forum but to say that coldplay is "better" than radiohead is just fucking stupid. No band is better or worse than others, how can there be when music is totally subjective. I mean personally i started with coldplay and they were my number one favourite band, but then as i got older the universe that Radiohead created with their music just excited my brain more. The reason Johnny says radiohead are 'better' is because they influenced so many more musicians in totally different genres and to be honest who has coldplay influenced? No one special. I mean no one can argue with Strawberry Swing or Violet Hill that Coldplay have potential to be something really groundbreaking but theyre happy to be the biggest band in the world and sell the most records while radiohead were not. Coldplay whilst they are good, are sellouts in my opinion (itunes ads, x-factor, massive tours for 2 years at a time, rhianna in their album, american idol the list goes on) and thats why theyre seen by elitists as 'a poor mans radiohead' however this as we all know is total bullshit. Neither are better or worse, one just happened to sell more records while the other had more artistic gravity amongst their peers. Sorry to rant but i had to vent this shit cause it was doing my head in.

I just find it so frustrating when bands like Radiohead , Arctic Monkeys or even The xx can come up with fresh and exciting music, and still have relative commercial success. These bands sound cool and make you go 'wow that was different'. Where as Coldplay 'the biggest band in the world' make you think 'wow this sounds like fucking chris brown'. Its so aggravating. IN saying that though, the other songs in the live setlist do sound unique and interesting. Im not opposed to sampling or electronic music as long as its fresh and exciting, and in all honesty, ETIAW is not.:angry:

There isnt anything wrong with the act of 'sampling' itself, if the new song is fresh and good. Its the fact that the song is bad that we should be worried abotu. Id be happy for coldplay to do remixs of other bands for the next five years as long as the music isnt shit.

im optimistic about the new album and i still totally respect and love coldplay. i mean christmas lights was amazing, although not very different i understand. But how come radiohead or arctic monkeys can do something new without being total sellouts and be GOOD?!

Thank fuck there is someone who isnt starstruck by Coldplay. Theyre are a good band. Legendary. But that doesnt mean they cant release something thats shit.. Theyre human. And this song is shit.

Maybe were 'depressed' because supposedly the 'best , biggest band in the world' just releashed a fucking bullshit song. The song is in no way extraordinary and sounds like all the other crap on the mainstream radio. I wouldnt have a problem with the dance or electronic elements if they were fresh, like radiohead's 'feral' or 'lotus flower'. And to those saying this is what Coldplay wants, thats complete bullshit, this is obviously the record company telling them to release pop tunes as record sales are slowly but surely dwindling. Before i start, id just like to say, if it werent for coldplay, i wouldnt have fallen in love with music in general! In saying that, this new single. Its not that its bad. Its just dull. Fucking dull, which is worse. Its not cool, fresh, interesting, just boring and predictable. Yeah it sounds good, but it doesnt warrant a second listen, at all. Ive heard it 4-5 times and nothing. No spark, nothing to make me go " fucking hell that was awesome, or beautiful or cool, or even different." Its a generic pop song. I hope this is a joke and Coldplay arent really putting this out to the public. If they do, ill be devastated. In fact i already am...:cry:
