Alternative Violet Hill videoclip on ColdplayTV (Youtube)
I like this one! This is hilarious! Bush conducting the Marine Band, Tony Blair rockin out, Castro tripping, Yeltsin gettin down...I love it. Notice Hilary, Clinton, and Obama are all in it too. They're just making fun of all politicians. Just one question: is this the "real" video or something? Or some politically incorrect alternative? Forgive me if this has been said already, I'm too lazy to read all four pages.

You know you're addicted to Coldplay when...
You go on YouTube to listen to Violet Hill or Viva la Vida and hope that EMI hasn't found the videos with them yet.

Violet Hill Video? I dont know...
I didn't get The Hardest Part video at all. What the heck did that have to do with the song? As for the Violet Hill video, it wasn't what I expected it to be at all. For starters, I thought it'd be a lot more serious. It's just...It seems like they weren't trying, which I suppose maybe they weren't but, still. I guess I was just expecting more. I hope the Viva la Vida video is better.

Hello from Texas!
I've actually been posting for a few days now, but, being as observant as I am (not), I didn't notice this New Members area here. So, here I am! Like the title says, I'm from north Texas, USA. I'm 17 years old. I love music (I play clarinet in my school's band and piano on the side), especially Coldplay (obviously, or else I wouldn't be here I guess). I became a fan like, maybe a year ago or so, so I'm rather new. I mean, I liked Clocks and The Scientist before then, but I wasn't a full blown out fanatic like I am now. So yeah, uh, don't really know what else to say right now, so...Hey!

What's your most anticipated VLVODAIF song?
The whole album, but specifically Cemeteries of London (just 'cause the name intrigues me) and Death and All His Friends (just to hear what the second title track sounds like). EDIT: I'm also anxious to hear all the songs that didn't make the album, since those will be just as good or better.

Best coldplay line, quotes, or phrase
Well, let's see, so many...Aside from what's already been said: The lines in my signature. I just love that whole song. It's probably quoted to death, but "Nobody said it was easy./No one ever said it would be this hard." - The Scientist "And the wheel just keeps on turning, the drummer begins to drum./I don't know which way I'm goin', I don't know which way I've come." - 'Til Kingdom Come. I can only imagine what that song would've been like had Johnny Cash lived to record his part. From the new songs: the first half of the chorus of Viva la Vida, from "I hear Jerusalem bells" to "missionaries in a foreign field". Probably to be continued

The Viva La Vida (song) meaning thread!
Well thank ya very much! Just my humble first impression, that's all it is. I suppose (and I think someone said earlier that Chris said this) that you can interpret the song in any way you want. No matter how you look at it, it's still a brilliant work of art.

Coldplay's new music style. Do you like it?
Yeah, kinda the same for me here. I mean it's different, but the same. Deep down I can still feel the original style and substance, just kinda packaged differently, that's all. If that makes any sense.

The Viva La Vida (song) meaning thread!
I'll tell you the first thing that came to my mind when I heard this song: Napoleon Bonaparte. The lyrics seem to describe a ruler that gained power militarily and then fell from power. That's what happened with Napoleon. The words "I used to roll the dice/feel the fear in my enemies eyes" immediately bring up battle to my mind. The part about him not thinking St. Peter would call his name could work because Napoleon was (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) atheistic and only believed religion was good for structuring a society. And other stuff like that. I realize there are problems with this interpretation. I just found out it's "Jerusalem bells a-ringin'", and Napoleon was never close to conquering Jerusalem. Egypt, but not Jerusalem. And the line "who would want to be king?" definitely doesn't sound like Napoleon, because he did and never gave up his desire. I'm still kinda sticking to the thought process that the song is about some European monarch, especially French giving the July Revolution cover art. I am intrigued by the Jesus interpretation, being rather religious myself, but, as mentioned before here, I do think there are problems with it. And question: is it "Roman Calvary choirs" or "Roman cavalry choirs"? I heard "cavalry" but the words sound a lot alike.
