[5-May-2014] Beacon Theatre, New York, USA
went to the early bird special …aka 5 pm show. great seats . front loge. the show/sound was great and while it wasn't as smooth as their other shows, it was for the better IMO. they are too rehearsed, too produced, etc. show was short though but sound was incredible. 20 plus shows with coldplay. 2nd smallest venue…sick

Coldplay Back in New York Baby!!!! (Win tickets to exclusive Yahoo show)
just got back from the show...didnt have a ticket. hung out up front for an hour, talked to some guy who turned out to be the producer from yahoo..told him i tried to win tickets but to no avail. he said they were going to be way over capacity....then he saw me and my girl just standing there in the cold and he introduced himself and said, "hang out, let me see what i can do"...we had hope. .....30-45 minutes passed by...no sign of any help coming our way. started to watch the door very closely when they started letting people in. they were checking pretty closely for the email notice etc....but then they started letting a good flow of people in and they were just letting everyone in. passing out coldplay necklaces as you entered the door....i told my girl to get in line right away and kept watching to see if this was going to continue. and it did. i hopped in line with her and just walked right in the front door right onto the main floor like 15 feet from the stage, dead center....pretty sick. hung out for a bit just waiting for a while ..lots of talking about the q and a section and a dry run of the q and a...blahblahblah..just pumped at this point. actually grabbed a setlist as well. just prior to the show they were playing one of jay z's songs..so i thought it was definitely going to go down!! lit violet hill clocks lost---jay z and beyonce were there but no jay on stage....very bummed chinese sleep chant 42 yellow strawberry swing viva lij death... q and a all in all a great experience..crowd was kinda mellow. lots of corporate types and sponsors .....one thing that was terrible was it was half empty and they could have given way more tickets away...chris even commented about a lot of empty seats in the balconies.....not "selling many tickets" they seemed to be really happy and just had a good time. pumped for sunday and monday now. stoked i went over there and just hung out....luckily i didnt wait for that guy since he was on stage getting things squared away as the show was getting close to starting..

hey, so i am going to keep it brief. everyone else has covered most if not all. 15th coldplay show and honestly the philly crowd was pretty legit. very very excited. lots of energy running through that place. it crushed msg a month ago. there were a few points i thought the sound/timing was a bit off but they figured it out pretty fast. the setlist was good and i was excited because i hadnt been watching the boards too much to see the order of songs. this time around i thought chris wasnt moving around nearly as much as x&y tour but its all good. most songs sounded super clean. my one and only SERIOUS complaint is this: only 1 song off of parachutes.???..now, i know its time to focus on new stuff, but just 1 song....if they could have thrown everythings not lost and/or trouble/dont panic in the mix...just play sparks and shiver and i may call it a day for good!!!! one last thing...15 times, i have yet to see shiver...kills me looking forward to izod...have huge expectations. regardless, great show to cap off a really really tough week...

setlist is so predictable--what about throwing the serious fans a bone and playing shiver, everythings not lost, see you soon, sparks, talk...even politik, maybe amsterdam... im not saying all of these but a few would be great get used to this setlist..it wont change all that much. just being honest

im almost certain they play at 7 and then the play like 2 songs that were taped throughtout the show sporadically. the 7 am start needs to be confirmed. i swear i saw it way back when it was first announced but dont know where it is now.

i think thats a little optimistic. i would like it but im thinking thats a bit too many. definitely only 2-3 songs get broadcast. doesnt mean they dont play more but im trying to figure that out.

anyone have a hunch how many songs they are going to play. i have repeated reports of 2-3.

just want to make a few comments. it was my 14th time seeing the band and i thought it was pretty good for where they are in the new material and getting out there and playing live again. i saw them twice in smaller buzz type shows..once at the beacon and once at avalon in boston which was amazing. they were previewing all their new x/y album with a few old ones in there as well. so it was pretty much the same thing as msg but just way way smaller. i thought the show was fun because i got to see them play new stuff and i didnt know what was coming up next ...last tour they played 80-85 minutes everynight and played the same exact setlist night in and night out. every once in a blue moon the would exchange one song for another, but was very very very rare. i think they played shiver twice on the whole tour. their show is very in tune with their lights and screens..they cant just come out and play a song when they fee like it ..i wish they did, but they just dont. so i think some of the complaining that is occurring is because some of the fans that have seen them on other tours are thinking this might be indicative of whats to come...short show, very predictable. now, granted, the show is not going to be so heavy on the new stuff as was the other night, but dont expect somone in the crowd to yell, "play sparks" and they go, "ok"...they have a pretty set setlist and they stick to it. but...i continue to got to every show in the area because i think they are amazing live and keep the hope alive that someday they will play some of my favorites just because they are feeling it that night!! as for the fuse thing- i saw the cure on friday night and there were a dumpload of cameras everywhere at msg with notices saying this was being filmed for fuse. i only saw like 1-2 cameras and no disclaimer anywhere for coldplay. brings me to last point. someone earlier on said that msg has a curfew of 11pm and thats why the show ended abruptly like it did....there is no curfew. the cure went on at 9 pm sharp and played 33-35 songs (insane) which included an hour long set of encores (4 to be exact)...they left the stage after their 3 hour marathon just after midnight...it was unbelievable. people all around us were just freaking out..

yeah i saw the cure on friday at msg..33 songs, 4 encores, 3 hours...insane tonight they will play 9/10 of the new songs and 6 songs off the old albums.. dont blink. its going to be great but would love more. if they could only play shiver i would be happy...and that, is a pipe dream. they played practically the same set for 18 months plus or minus 1-2 songs per night and only played shiver like twice the entire tour...hopefully this tour they will not feel the need to have everything so programmed and the can play different things everynight, although, i dont think that will be the case..
