  9. <> I'm listening to Parachutes right now :D I'm good, lying low until tomorrow when I'm going to the pool with my friends... work is so amazing, so it's impossible for me to be too unhappy :D it's just really exhausting, but I'm starting to adjust...
  10. awwwwww, Christmas Invasion, the one that started it all  good! I woke up today and watched a couple of episodes :D I've heard that the Calculus AP was a killer, I have a couple of friends who took it... PS, I have a video of the boy in my class speaking yesterday if you want me to PM you the link (not posting it on here for obvious reasons)... I was right, he DID continue! he said "Daddy" super super clearly a couple of times, and when we played the song he tried SO SO hard to speak, and I caught part of that on video. I also taught him the S sound by making the sound in his ear for a couple of minutes- I would make the sound and he'd pull my mouth up to his ear so he could hear it, and then suddenly he started repeating it back to me! it was so amazing :D actually, you can see him do it with the teacher in the video, but I was the one who taught it to him
  11. congrats, Lauren!  Crests, how's Doctor Who treating you these days?
  12. why did you change your avi  my student continued speaking today! it's so amazingggggggg  I'll update you guys once I've had lunch and a nap :P
  13. I got chills experiencing it :P it made my... year, I think  it was funny because he actually wasn't too surprised! see, this boy hums alllllll the time (that's his biggest stim), and his dad told us that two days ago, the humming started to turn into word-like sounds. like, instead of humming, he'd go "nuh nuh nuh", "ssssssss", etc... so he'd been trying for two days, and today he finally got it! it must have been a relief for him to finally get it all out :P we definitely think he'll continue  clearly he'd been absorbing everything for a very very long time- he knew the whole song, and said basically all of the words. who knows how many words he has floating around his head! but he's at a good place where he gets speech therapy and lots of other help, and his parents are really involved, so we really think that this is just the beginning. eeeeeeeek it's so exciting :D
  14. I can't even describe how amazing it was. seriously, it was just so incredible. ahhh :) I got some of it on video with my phone, but it doesn't do it justice... you know, you hear about this sort of thing sometimes, but I never thought I'd see it. I wish everyone could have the same experience as me! :bomb: we called his dad afterward too, and he was so grateful and happy :) he couldn't wait for the bus to get home so that he could see his son, it was great! especially because all of these families are pretty low-income and not too well off, so to give him news like that was pretty special :nice: *tries to stop being all sappy*
  15. my favorite boy in my classroom, this 4-year-old autistic boy, has never ever spoken, and no one was sure if he'd ever speak. today we were playing this alphabet song, and suddenly, out of nowhere, he STARTED SPEAKING. he sang along with the song. another teacher and I were sitting on either side of him, and suddenly we heard him start saying words, and we looked at each other and started freaking out... he sang along with the entire song twice, for about 5 minutes, and he said words like "igloo" and "monkey" and made all of the letter sounds. we were all sobbing, and we brought in the principal and she was crying too, because now we know he has the ability to speak and he's started. they've been working with him for 2 years, and suddenly today... it just burst out of him. it was really one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. it was amazing. I'm gonna have a MTWThF class at 9AM every day :awesome:
  16. you don't know anything about Doctor Who :snobby: and I listened to that song you posted, I didn't like it  HAHAHA my friends and I are having an "ugly picture war" on facebook- we're changing our profile pictures to hideous pictures of each other
