  1. Certainly that is a valid point of view and ANY song from AHFOD played today will be good in promoting the album, however it doesn't detract from the argument that Hymn was the absolute obvious choice because 1- Its the actual most recent single in the charts and 2- Beyonce is right there on stage with them.
  2. It needn't feature the actual people. It can be album covers or album art. Actually when I was a teen I had my room plastered with pics of people I looked up to hehe I think its pretty normal as a teen to want/need that. Later that need disappeared so all my teen postcards and posters were removed hehe. However I do like for example the art from Ghost Stories (I have two posters with that) as well as the graffiti from MX or a poster of the stadium filled with xylobands :) So I guess I found a new way to incorporate my love of music also in my home :)
  3. Yes Coldplay will most likely put up an amazing show regardless of the nonsense. I may be awake to watch it (depends if I have to work later). I really wonder now what people will say post show? If Coldplay do what Coldplay do in their live shows, people are bound to react positively. Could this performance change people´s perspective of Coldplay in the USA? A possibility, no?
  4. A timeline could be an exciting idea, but I don't think so....Dunno, they did mention they are going "tell a story"
  5. *LOL* I agree with this sentiment. Censorship on what people are allowed to think, say for like or don't like is one of the worst maladies a society can have...It can be hard to keep integrity with your right to be as you want to be, but there really is no alternative. Caving in is not an option ;)
  6. That in itself was really never an issue to me. Bruce Springsteen, U2, Paul McCartney, etc all have participated and put up nice shows there. This could have gone quite nicely too, but it doesn't bode well so far.
  7. Few things sell more on gossip magazines than pictures of artists private romantic lives and as an extension of that their family life, i.e. kids. Its what it is....until people start reading something else *LOL* Im not interested in gossip and don't buy any gossip magazine but I also don't click on any "gossipy" news on online sites. That click is an endorsement. If the majority likes to hear that stuff, news people need to report it in order to stay in business. I don't blame them.
  8. Like it not, a lot of people buy gossip magazines and love gossip. They like to hear about the "behind the scenes" of artists private lives, they are less interested in knowing the technicalities about how a 12-minute-show has to be put up in like 5 minutes. These journalists were mostly the mainstream TV and newspapers channels, not music dedicated, so clearly they catered to their crowd...asked the questions people wanted to hear the answer to. Its really no more complicated than market mechanism Im afraid.
  9. Coldplay had little hope to stand against.....The Beygency http://mic.com/articles/134233/here-s-why-beyonc-s-beyhive-are-the-most-loyal-music-fans#.UnstwJfvB
  10. I don't think it has anything to do with national pride, more Beyoncé pride. lol The media caters to the mainstream and the mainstream in the USA (at least if we judge by twitter and other responses) idolises Beyonce and thinks Coldplay is boring.
  11. Beyonce the slowest performer ever to guest at the Super Bowl halftime? You better believe it.... If there is anyone who´s most likely among all the performers to put you to sleep is her. Coldplay potentially third most lively artist. In Defense Of Coldplay's Super Bowl Billing
  12. All this affair is just unsavoury...I cant wait for it to be done with so the media stops talking about Coldplay. I naively thought that it´d be a very nice platform for them to put up an amazing show, do something unique in their career and at the same time perfectly introducing all americans to their brand new single with Beyonce as a guest. But I live in an upside down world where they´ve only mostly got very bad publicity because of this (and without doing anything to deserve it) and where they will be the backing band that helps introducing Beyonce new single to the world...
  13. Uh??? Lol that was never my concern. I may have created this thread but it really belongs to all of us who want to participate. I wrote that cuz I thought it'd make it easier for you to gather them here instead of opening a separate thread. And moreover so that your/ the new comments will be part of/continuation of the x &y comments here so people wanting to revisit the party (there has been interest about making it easy to jump to the beginning of each listening party comments) will also find your comments and not them having to be separated somewhere else. But if you still wanna have a separate thread I want to then add a link to it next to the X&Y one (whenever I put links on each of the listening parties). So it's up to you. It won't affect me either way :)
  14. Wow. This coming from the freaking British BBC??? I'm speechless. They are not even loyal to their own. But sadly nothing new here.
  15. Glad you "reserved" the tv. Well done! Hehe Hard to disagree that Formation is not a song: it's words rap on a beat. So at best a rap song with no melody at all? Regardless it does literally hurt my ears. I respect all who love this but I can't see how it can ever fit in a Coldplay show...
  16. The show may still belong to Coldplay time and theme-wise but yeah I don't think there is a chance they won't be instantly overshadowed by Beyoncé premiering a new single. I have no idea what the promoters were thinking. If they wanted Beyoncé they could just have invited her instead. Also there seems to be a gross miscommunication or misunderstanding going on when Chris doesn't want to play the obvious choice ,Hymn, but then Beyoncé comes on to promote her own single during their show. I have no idea how anyone can see this as anything other than grossly disrespectful.
  17. LOL imagine if all of us were in the same room watching this together live. Imagine the scene when Beyoncé starts singing this. Our faces... Oh god haha
  18. The good part may be that this abomination of music will stand in stark contrast with some of the best most amazing Coldplay music ever made. Imagine this sadness to the ears sandwiched between I don't know a Viva and a Clocks/Fix you. LOL If I were Beyoncé I'd be embarrassed not only because the new single is staggeringly well devoid of music and I don't know how it can ever fit in Coldplay show but also because of Chris comments about it being tasteless to play a new single. Then again I don't think she stops long enough to even be self conscious of anything other than her "tiara" loool
  19. Haha good point! But none of this makes sense really.
  20. LOOOL yeah I threw that in there cuz it's part of the rock star cliché but not sure it applies to any of them. Haha then again one never knows lol
  21. Not sure it would be good to make this official lest people think "wait didn't we already listen to it like yesterday?" Lol but if you contact these 2-3 who missed the party privately (and others who might be interested in a replay) and you all agree on a day and time feel free to gather in this thread and listen to it, then it would be a continuation of the comments from yesterday. Just let me know when so it doesn't clash with anything else :)
  22. Quite a few came along luckily! One or two wrote that they missed it. We shall have in the future a b-side party btw including....I ran away LOL
  23. Their silly idolatry of this all in all average artist (she's far from a legend of music) is actually pretty funny. I almost feel sad for them :)
  24. Im thinking its both hard and frustrating to discuss anything with someone who puts ideology before reality, agenda before realistic solutions. Why is it SO important that the world should conform to the way we THINK the world must be? Nothing is to be gained by such a useless mental exercise....
  25. We´ll probably never know the "dark" side of Coldplay in the past. haha Its all those stories of probably drugs/alcohol/sex they´ll never tell cuz they don't wanna glamorise them. I always found that decision very respectable and a breath of fresh air from the likes of Oasis haha
