Favorite song at the moment?
Mine is Square One which is the first song on the X & Y album, I don't know why but I just love it. What's your favorite song at the moment? It doesn't matter whether you're listening to it now or not.

Has America lost talent?
yes, but the killers havent produced an album in god knows how long, the shins havent make a single since '07, the roots are good, ill admit that, i used to LOVE linkin park, but minutes to midnight was a huge mistake, the foo fighters are good too, no pink, sorry :( madonna was quite a while ago, though she did make 4 minutes with justin timberlake and timbaland not long ago, and i only know of one talented country/bluegrass band today, and thats nickel creek. i see your point, but the music market is becoming flooded with all this untalented garbage and its taking a toll on all of the good emerging or small bands. p.s. i think erykah badu considers herself american, isnt she from dallas? i dont know, lol, but yes, i have to agree that music is in the ear of the beholder, its just that sometimes all of this garbage really gets to me :P :argue: <-------haha, like that one

Has America lost talent?
haha, probably no one likes rap here but a few select people. personally, i like certain rap artists that i got lucky finding, the ones who rap about something other than sex, pot, money, and fame, but as for the rest of them, i just hope their fame and wealth is taken away slowly and painfully. great musicians were the ones that did extraordinary things with their voices and instrumental ability, something that no one else could do, but nowadays, its just the quest to see how many curse words you can fit in a single stanza or line, things that anyone could do, just scream into a microphone or say the same words over and over again in the same melody about 30 times. anyone can do that, but no one could play the guitar the way eddie van halen could, which is why he is a legend. nobody could strum a melody together quite like the way the beatles did, which is why they are also legends. music is pure talent, concentration, and practice, it took soulja boy a crappy video camera, youtube, and a "gangster" voice to make millions of dollars, and yet there are talented bands like coldplay that are just being discovered here in the States, does anyone know the names of the people who helped invent the computer? no, all they know is "soulja boy" and his stupid dance and song, which i think is real crime. well, i guess in the end, thats the way the cookie crumbles.

haha, yeah, i listen to the talk show station now, i actually kinda like it, they talk about some interesting stuff, and yes MTV has gotten to be garbage, too bad, i used to like it :(

Has America lost talent?
yeah, its just noise, which is why i dont listen to the radio anymore, because its driven me to the point to where id rather listen to the commercials than the "music", and thats sad.

Has America lost talent?
its not that i really care, its just that saying things like that is really low. and yes, the world would be a boring place if everyone listened to coldplay and radiohead, lol. i listen to a wide variety of music from hip-hop to alternative to electronic (basically everything but country and ringtone rap). as for the sole determiner of good music, i dont think so, everyone has their own taste in music...which im fine with as long as they dont do the stupid soulja boy dance thing on the street or sing it out loud every three seconds. i dont think anyone can determine what 'good music' is, but as for all the ringtone rap and preteen girls talking about their pot smoking ex boyfriends, well, thats just not music. but even then, im flattered that you called me the sole determiner of good music :)

I second that. Many of us in the United States cannot appreciate good music. For example, Coldplay's music is just pure genius, as many other artists such as Radiohead and Mogwai, but when we say we like this music we get labeled "fags" or "gay", but it's just the opposite, when someone says that Coldplay's music is trash they are only insulting their own intelligence. And yes, most rap is crap these days, its just ringtone rap that has no meaning or effort, its just noise. On the other hand, there is one rap group that is pretty good, check out the group Flobots, I particularly like the song Stand Up. At least the Americans on this forum like real music, and that gives me hope.

The Offical Top Gear Thread
have you seen the episode where they come to the States and try to buy cars for $1,000 or less and then drive them from florida to louisiana? it was hilarious, they also had to complete a series of tests for the cars and for survival and see who would win. one of the tests of survival was finding road kill to eat and they came back with a whole cow.

ah yes, she is just the most talented individual of our time, she can be a ho, sing like crap, act as a melodramatic teenager (which she doesnt do very well), and hold down a job, all at the same time!

Has America lost talent?
I was just on iTunes and I saw that Miley Cryus was on the top 10 charts. I'm very open to music so I listened to the 30 second preview, and I'm almost totally convinced that the United States simply does not produce ANY good artists anymore. Sure we have Moby, Joe Satriani, The Beach Boys and the like, but they were way back then. Even the early '90s hip-hop was good, but now? I just don't know. We're coming out with all these untalented people who call themselves musicians. First it was Soulja Boy or whatever and now it's Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus, I'm just starting to lose all hope. All this is happening in America while Britain has Coldplay, Radiohead, Muse and the like. Scotland is coming with Mogwai, Isreal & Germany are coming out with great electronic artists such as Infected Mushroom and Booka Shade. I'm just praying that the US doesn't get wiped off the international charts and that a hero can rise up and really be called an artist and make great American music. Well, that's my rant, what do you think? Members of all nationalities are welcome to speak, I don't care if you're in Europe, America, or on the moon, I just want to know what other people think.

U2 or Coldplay
I love both Coldplay and U2, but I think that Coldplay just out right trumps U2. I see much more creativity in Coldplay than U2. U2 did have some very nice songs though (eg. Beautiful Day, Vertigo, Elevation, & With or Without You), but Coldplay's Clocks, Viva la Vida, Yellow, Speed of Sound, Square One, Talk, and many, many more just beat the sh*t out of U2 for me. So what do you think, U2 or Coldplay?
