  1. Hey Coldplayers... I just thought I'd inform you of a bit of an Australian tradition that Coldplay is set to be part of this year by virtue of their most recent album, Viva la Vida... The Triple J Hottest 100, for all those non-Aussies out there, is an annual "Top 100 Countdown" by Australian independent radio station Triple J. Basically, everyone votes for 10 songs they loved in 2008, and then on Australia Day (a public holiday down here) Triple J plays them all, from 100 to 1. Now that might seem fairly innocuous but it's become quite a big event down here and people now have "Hottest 100 Parties" where they listen to the countdown, have a barbeque and beer, etc etc etc. It's what I'd call an "Australian musical institution". Anyway, seeing as Coldplay released music this year, they're in with a shot with the countdown. You can vote here http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/vote.htm and have a look at the songs you can vote for here: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/downloads/hottest100list_artist.pdf You're allowed to vote for 10 songs, and you're not limited to the ones on the song list...the listed songs are merely those which Triple J has played regularly this year. The only rule is the songs have to be released in 2008. So if anyone could vote, that would be great...it's free and you're helping Coldplay! Cheers folks... :D
  2. I always loved the album too, but unlike the first poster I was always a fan of Lovers In Japan, from the very start. The song that's really grown on me has been Yes. At the start I was not a fan at all, but I'd say now that it's almost a tie between Death and All His Friends/The Escapist and Yes for my favourite song. Viva La Vida is still stunning but is suffering from overplay. Life In Technicolor still sends me into raptures. I have, and always will like Reign of Love. And as for Strawberry Swing - well, can you believe they were considering not putting that on the album? What a sensational four minutes and nine seconds of dreamy, happy Coldplay.
