Coldplace (Coldplay tribute) official promo video
Hi guys, I just thought I'd post a link to our latest promo video and get your thoughts on it. It was filmed at one of our shows earlier in the year and the audio is from various festivals we've played throughout the summer. We're really proud of it, hope you enjoy! All comments welcome. CS-80 and X&Y
Very cool Patrik! Any chance of releasing these as an Exs24 instrument pack for the community? I'd be happy to donate towards this!

Jonnys Pedal Board
I'm not sure what the brown pedal is no. Every picture of his board I've seen from the MX era is from the wrong angle to get a good look at that one :(

Jonnys Pedal Board
Nah I'm pretty sure they are both power screamers, there are variations on that pedal though, some models have a 'fat boost' switch on the side and some don't. They also do come in different finishes, I have two (one in green with fat boost and one in tweed without fat boost). Mike does indeed build switcher units based on a rehoused ground control and I'm pretty sure Jonny's X&Y board was based on this. The Viva and Mylo boards have both been custom builds. I spoke to Mike about it when I was building my board and he told me it's a custom build switcher unit that switches on individual loops - most if not all of the pedals are in their own loop so Jonny can switch them all using the "pandoras box" unit. With regard to the speakers in the amps, he's using Celestion Vintage 30's, a common upgrade for the HotRod series - indeed some special editions came with V30's as standard. The rewiring was to change the PCB mounted jacks and switches/pots to be ones with flying leads as PCB mounted stuff inevitably breaks with heavy use. I've had the same done to my HotRodDeluxe. I play in a Coldplay tribute and have spent waaay too long studying Jonny's gear. I've to have an hour or so to chat with him or Matt McGinn though!!! Here's a pic of my current setup, still needs a few more touches and another ernie ball pedal for expression.

Jonnys Pedal Board
Wow, this is an old thread! That's his old old board board. He no longer uses the MXR microamp and only has one DL4 on his board now. His board for the MX tour had 2xHBE Powerscreamers, 1 Ibanez TS-9, ProCo Rat, MXR Phase 90, Boss TU tuner, EHX Micro POG 1 Line 6 DL4 and three Ernie ball volume pedals (1 for vol & 2 used as expression pedals). That's before you get to his Rack full of L6 Echo Pro's, TX2290 and Eventime Reverbs! Also, the switcher unit he uses is not a ground control, but a custom unit built by Mike Hill, though his tech Matt McGinn does use a ground control to change patches while Jonny's off wandering about.

Anyone with a GT20 want to do me a favour? (measurements)
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone with a GT20 would take some measurements for me? My Coldplay tribute band (Coldplace) are having a replica GT20 case made to house the stage piano we currently use. We currently use something similar and whilst it does the job, it is not a very good replica of Chris's piano. For the record, due to space in the van and the weight it is not possible for us to take a real GT20 on the road unfortunately :-(. We can make the replica split into two parts for easier transportation. I have attached an image below, the measurements I need are the height, width and depth of the main body, plus No's 7, 15 & 18 from the diagram. Also, the top hangs over the main body slightly, can you measure how much? Any other info or measurements as you feel necessary. Basically the more information the better! All help greatly appreciated! Will post full pics once it's complete :-)

Jonny's "Synth" type sounds on beginning of Yellow & GPASUF
Yeah after watching it again it looks like he's doing the swells with his volume pedal, probaly with a shedload of delay & reverb. On God Put A Smile it looks as though he plays something and loops it maybe, if you check the end of Violet Hill where he starts doing the sound on his les Paul, the sound continues even though you can clearly see him swap guitars... Jonny's "Synth" type sounds on beginning of Yellow & GPASUF
Hi, Anyone know what Jonny is using to make the spacey synth kind of sounds on the beginning of Yellow and God Put a Smile on the latest tour. You can clearly see him doing it here [ame= ] [/ame] I'm thinking it could be the swell setting on the DL4 maybe? Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Haha do it!! To get the effect though you will need UV light. You can buy the bulbs to put in lamps from places like Maplins. That should cover a bedroom.

Coldplay tribute (Coldplace) new MX stage show pics
Thanks guys, It's taken a load of work but were pretty pleased with it. The neon rings are called "EL Flowers" they were the biggest and most difficult thing to build. They also cost a small fortune!! They are 6ft wide and we have lasers in the centre. They light up as they are made of electroluminescent wire. We had a local artist do the backdrop at the back, he also did my guitar (I'm the Jonny wannabe :P). It's a pretty amazing thing to see in real life 16ft x 8ft. You can't really tell from the pics but it glows under UV light. He's going to do the rest of the guitars... I think he's becoming our Paris lol. I'm glad you like it though.

Coldplay tribute (Coldplace) new MX stage show pics
Hi guys, I've been a member here for years now but mostly been more of a casual observer rather than an active poster. It's a great source of info for all things Coldplay though. This year I was lucky enough to be asked to join the worlds best Coldplay tribute - Coldplace. Since then we've been hard at work trying to create a stage show that captures the "MX" vibe. It's been hard work but I think it paid off, I wanted to share some pictures with you guys to see what you thought? There's still a lot of work to do, more guitars need painting and a few things need tweaking here and there. I'd love to know your thoughts though...

'Lovers In Japan' intro guitar sound
This is my first post so be gentle! Does anyone know how Jonny gets that endless guitar sound at the beginning of Lovers In Japan? He is strumming quite a lot when you see him doing it but you can't hear the strumming if you know what I mean. An idea of what pedals and settings he uses to achieve the effect?
