Shadow Circus
I don't know if it's customary for people on the board who have their own bands to post them here - but after hanging out here for a while and seeing what people's taste in music is like, I thought that some of you might be interested. This is a progressive Rock band, but has more in common with the piano-focused, melodic pop of bands like Codlplay than, let's say, Yes or ELP...some samples of the music here if you want to check us out - I'd love to know what you all think: http://www.shadowcircusmusic.com/audio

What is making you smile/laugh?
I'm sure this has probably been posted here somewhere before, but I just got a good laugh out of this one: [ame=http://video.yahoo.com/watch/3510825/9746138]Ninja Cat on Yahoo! Video[/ame]

Burger King Cologne
Hmmm....I imagine that would have more of a sauerkraut aroma....

Burger King Cologne
"Hey, is someone flame-broiling 100% US Grade A ground beef?" "No - that's my cologne" http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/28284679?GT1=43001

Kiss goes Avant-Garde!
AH! I finally figured it out - I had to click on "Go Advanced" before it let me edit the title. Since this video, I've discovered that there is apparently a whole bunch of videos out there like this - I've never laughed so hard! But i still think that the Kiss one above is the best, it's just so surreal! Imagine Kiss singing lyrics like "I was paid to fly with you batman! Jazz jazz jazz jazz!!!"... Forgive me if anyone thinks this humor is just too silly - I don't know what it is, it just cracks me up!

No Cake for Adolf Hitler
The kid is named Adolf Hitler to honor Adolf Hitler, the mass murderer. The name endorses mass murder. The baker refused to put the name on a product of his bakery to show respect for those who Adolf Hitler murdered.

No Cake for Adolf Hitler
I can see how, on some deep, super-objective philosophical level, relatively speaking, and so on, that it might seem like there should theoretically be no issue...but there's just a little complication with that perspective: The parents are publicly and proudly endorsing Nazism, a doctrine which calls for the eradication of all Jewish people, by committing mass murder.

No Cake for Adolf Hitler
What kills me is that the parents claim that they only picked that name because it is unique. But they have another kid named "Honszlynn Hinler" and "Aryan Nation", for crying out loud! Ummm...is it just me, or is there some kind of common theme going on between these names? What stuns me more is that gay people are having such problems obtaining the right to marriage - yet numbskulls like this are free to marry and reproduce to their heart's content...

No Cake for Adolf Hitler
Just when I thought that people's stupidity had already soared to its highest pinnacle: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20081217/twl-baker-no-cake-for-little-hitler-3fd0ae9.html

Kiss goes Avant-Garde!
I tried, but I think that it doesn't work with the first post in a thread...it lets me edit the content of the message, though, but not the title... Anyway, hope some folks get a laugh out of it!

Kiss goes Avant-Garde!
Kiss plays avant-garde! Ah! I wish I cold re-title the thread as it doesn't seem to make sense in the World of Music topic - mods please feel free to move if you deem appropriate!

Kiss goes Avant-Garde!
Ok, maybe not everyone's sense of humor, but this really amused me for some reason... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw5oJoUYTb8]YouTube - Kiss shreds[/ame]

Official Red Hot Chili Peppers thread
I've been a fan of RHCP since MOFO Party Plan...Nothing compares to the energy they had on stage, just incredible. I wondered how they would age since so much of their deal was the youthful vibe, but they managed to mature into a really interesting band - I never imagined that Kiedis' lyrics would be as introspective and personal as they are now. IMHO, Blood Sugar Sex Magic was their magnum opus...

Guitar strap Advice
This is the most comfortable strap I've come across so far - I have back problems, so I went through a lot of different straps before I found one that works: http://www.activemusician.com/item--EM.CSPGL

Sigur Rós
I recently discovered Sigur Ros - outstanding stuff. When people ask me if any bands are carrying the progressive torch that bands like Floyd, Yes, and ELP did in the 70's, I often think of them...It's almost like Pink Floyd meets Cocteau Twins!

Thanks, but it's not nearly as cool as rudy_o's avatar! (or, should I say, not as hot!)...

Porcupine Tree
Porcupine Tree is awesome, I've seen them live in NYC the last two times they played here - very intense, dark, beautiful music. I will always favor In Absentia since that was what got me into them, but Stupid Dream and the last two, Deadwing and FoaBP, are pretty amazing, too...

Thanks to all for the warm welcome! LOL! Hey, no relation to fingerstyle acoustic guitar legend Leo Kottke, are you?

Newbie in NJ
Hi! I'm a long-time Coldplay fan, since I discovered them back in 2000...I'm a web programmer by day, and play in a prog rock band in my spare time (I play guitar and keyboards). Anyway, looking forward to hanging around here!
