  1. VLV X&Y AROBTTH Parachutes MX It's really interesting to see the varied responses though! :)
  2. I like the song -- it's catchy -- but I can understand fans' frustrations and anger toward it as well. It's how I felt (and still feel) about "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" (and HOW 'every teardrop a waterfall' wind up in this song as well?!). And even though I like this, it still feels like they could do better. Some of it is definitely an expectations thing -- you expect them to do better or do things in a certain way, so you're disappointed. But there's the opposite too, as in, "I wouldn't even give this song the time of day if it weren't by Coldplay." And I'm feeling a lot of the latter with what I've heard off this album so far.
  3. I think the title of this thread is hilariously overstated, but I also think ETIAW is quite bad.... and I haven't liked anything else I've heard either. And this is coming from someone whose favorite album is Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. I also love A Spell A Rebel Yell (gasp!), which has this odd sound quality that I hear echoes of here and makes me think I should love ETIAW but I don't. At all. And so like you I'm kind of worried. But to be fair, I didn't like X&Y when I first heard it either. Thought it sounded too "outer spacey" but now I love it, so who knows?
  4. Just take it off :laugh3: Don't torture yourself w/music you don't like, I say! Coldplay or no Coldplay :P
  5. ASSIGNMENT #6 I don't know if this counts since it's still uncertain but the whole Viva La Vida controversy really bothers me and the fact that I'm left in doubt and wondering whether they stole part of that Satriani song leaves me unsettled.
  6. See the thing about Death Will Never Conquer is, it's not actually my least favorite song of theirs, but it's the song that I keep trying to give "another chance" and it just doesn't do it for me. I want to love it b/c I really like the lyrics, and as death has always been this really scary thing for me, I find the lyrics sort of comforting... but then I hear the music and I just get RAWR!
  7. :laugh3: Sorry! :P
  8. ASSIGNMENT #1 1. Clocks 2. Cemeteries of London 3. Death and All His Friends 4. Life in Technicolor II 5. Fix You ASSIGNMENT #2 I could live without seeing any of them again but I guess I wouldn't mind looking at Chris :) ASSIGNMENT #3 Clocks probably ASSIGNMENT #4 Violet Hill, mostly b/c I really, REALLY love A Spell A Rebel Yell and don't think I could live without it. I could however live without Violet Hill, just for the record lol ASSIGNMENT #5 Death Will Never Conquer x5 I would burn this song five times over, just for good measure. Is that considered breaking the rules? XD
  9. I'm going to see Kitty, Daisy and Lewis and probably Elbow since I enjoyed both opening acts at the SPAC
  10. Thanks Marisa for the full review! I was there too and reading your review reminded me of stuff I forgot! :) I agree with you about the crowd. This was my first Coldplay concert so I had nothing to compare it to really, but I did notice that the crowd seemed lackluster at certain points. I felt like I was the only one singing around me as well. And I couldn't believe that it took two tries to get people to sing part of Yellow to Will, and even the second attempt wasn't so great. I mean, come on, I thought everyone knew that one! It was just so strange to me. I was also disappointed that people weren't more into Glass of Water or Cemeteries of London. Those are two of my favorite songs. Oh well, I was singing the crap out of them so :P to those who don't know them haha. I traveled 4 hrs by bus from NYC to see them. The bus actually broke down and we had to wait for a new one to rescue us. I was terrified I wasn't going to make it even though I'd left super-early in case of incident like this. I was almost crying at the possibility of not seeing them. When we got picked up by another bus I was so happy. There was no way I'd go to that concert and not enjoy the HELL out of myself by singing and jumping up and down. I'm glad there are other people willing to do the same. :) I enjoyed myself regardless of the crowd. And I love Kitty, Daisy and Lewis so I was happy they opened the show. I hadn't heard of Elbow before this but I thought they were great too! This is the first time I've gone to a show and enjoyed the opening acts so this was really an amazing experience for me all around.
  11. I have two (2) extra tickets to Coldplay's Saratoga Springs concert on July 27th. They're for balcony seats - Sec 22, Row O, Seats 52 and 53. I'm selling them for face value ($207 total) minus the convenience charge I paid, so you save some! :) edit: I've listed the tix on ebay so if you want them, just get them there :) listing
  12. I really like the album art of the singles to VLV (even more than the LP itself). Parachutes is my favorite I think though admittedly A Rush of Blood to the Head is probably the most arresting visually. X&Y seems the most abstract... blegh, they're all amazing in their own way. So hard to choose, haha.
  13. oh thank you so much! I need to get to work tomorrow! haha
