  1. This video is one of the cutest fanvids: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC38vXBsXIM]YouTube - Coldplay---"A Message"[/ame] Chris as a cupid angel is fitting!
  2. My note to [email protected] Here's my note to [email protected]: I’d very much like to see Coldplay return to Tampa to play the show that was originally scheduled for August 9, 2009. Many fans traveled long distances, hoping to see Coldplay at their last show of the North American leg of the tour, at great trouble and expense to find out the concert had been canceled, after it was too late to avoid the wasted travel and expenses. I especially feel for the large number of fans who were expecting to see Coldplay in concert for the first time in Tampa, and missed the chance. The cancelation hurts them most of all because they have been denied the chance of experiencing the magic that is a Coldplay concert. I saw you at the Shoreline and Wheatland, California, 7/13 and 7/14/09, and the latter was the best night of my life. Our seats were front and center, right behind the pit! It was an unforgettable night of magic and wonder. It would mean a huge amount to us fans for Coldplay to return to Tampa to play the show that we never got to see. I myself have a round trip ticket voucher that is waiting to be used for this purpose. Please consider adding a jog up to Tampa during your Latin American tour! ....also I joined the Facebook group!
  3. Hear the lyrics here! You can hear the lyrics quite well in this, the first live performance of Sleep on Jimmy Kimmel on 6/4/08. Unfortunately, it was cut short and the song didn't quite finish, but for the part that is there you can hear Chris' enunciation very well. http://stereogum.com/archives/video/coldplay-chinese-sleep-chants-on-kimmel-from-the-future_010204.html#
  4. I also hear the words "Sleep, satisfied." It also sounds as if Chris is singing, "It's true..." Also, I'm 52 and equally, if not more obsessed than the younger fans. I've found this song to be stimulating, not a good song to go to sleep with, ironically. It's like a morning cup of coffee or tea.
  5. Speaking for myself, as one of us who had the pleasure of seeing them in two other shows, one from near the pit, I carry a definite satisfaction. Coldplay did not disappoint at the shows I saw. At the end of the Wheatland concert, Chris said that he looked forward to coming back to see us again in a few years. But if they follow the pattern of VLV, they will come out with a new album in mid-2011. I believe their contract with EMI specified 5 albums. They would probably tour during the second half of 2011 and through September of 2012, assuming they choose to follow the same marathon schedule again. If they found this too exhausting, they might not do the same kind of schedule. I can understand how upset people must be, who were planning to see Coldplay for the first time in Tampa. One can only be patient until they return, whether that be in Tampa or Latin America next year, or elsewhere the following year when they release their next album. I like to think they will return if enough Tampa fans write [email protected]. Tell them if this would have been your first chance to see them and how disappointed you are that they canceled. I think they might respond. Look at the lyrics of one of my favorite Coldplay songs, DAAHF. It says be patient, don't worry:
  6. I've been downloading high-resolution photos from the forum http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58068 and ran across one of the most striking pics I've ever seen of Chris. This picture captures Chris Martin's inner as well as outer beauty:
  7. Thanks for sharing your mix tape. You included a great mix of the most interesting artists. It helps me to diversify away from being a Colplay exclusivist.
  8. So true, Dianne. Yesterday, I was joking with my friend when we went to dinner that it was so cold. Well, it was 60 here in San Francisco, and windy, which for us is extreme! I jokingly commented to him about how spoiled we become, living in California! This mediterranean climate would be considered a break for most people living in other parts of the world.
  9. Ziggy, the wager of $42 might or might not have been made with Coldplay in mind. 42 is the number that the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" ends up with. Tracey, have you seen this nostalgic video with pics from Wembley? Chris performed the accompanying version of "Shiver" for Radio One's broadcast of the Glasgow concert a day before Coldplay's finale at Wembley. Chris sings like an angel. 10. On the subject of these TV shows that you all have mentioned lately, you lose me. I've never been able to watch a whole Heroes episode. My interest wanes after a few minutes. :dozey: About a year or more ago, I watched the 2-hour special of Lost, recapping the whole season, and I came away from it, glad that I had not had to watch every one of those shows to end up where they did. About all I got out of it was that the Island was big enough to have its own natural beauty and ecosystem, including fresh water, to support life. Of course, it is filmed in Hawaii, which explains its natural beauty. That is where my interest ends. As for the storylines, I thought it was very contrived and a ridiculous waste of time. But, I know how engaging evening soap operas can be once one gets involved with the characters, having gotten involved in a couple myself in my recent past. For me, the mainline TV shows contain too much pain and suffering. I have enough of that to deal with in my own life. :( My taste in TV programs is where I have to part company with you ladies. Chris Martin and Coldplay completely enthrall me because I find them uplifting, but most of the TV shows nowadays seem to just reflect the social ills of our times. I don't need to be reminded of those. Desperate Housewives is a good example of that. I watched maybe one or two of those before I started to feel very disturbed by some of the storylines. Sorry, but when a mid-life woman starts lusting after the teenager who mows her lawn, I have to turn the channel! :o Simply too disturbing. Maybe I'm showing my own ignorance of the show, but that is what I got out of the 2 shows I watched! Without meaning to offend those who are fans of these shows, I think it reflects a sad state of our culture that these shows are as popular as they are. The real-life story of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow's love and the two little angels that resulted from their union is one that inspires me to believe in true love. Now that would make a good soap opera storyline I'd gladly subscribe to. Chris often reminds me of a Prince and Gwyneth of course is a Princess.
  11. Chinese Sleep Chant Though this songs said, "Fall Asleep, Sleep satisfied..." it is a very invigorating, high-energy song, better for the morning than at night: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FtE3Ozhm98&NR=1]YouTube - Coldplay - Chinese Sleep Chant (IMPRESIONANTE!!!!)[/ame]
  12. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/ has many clips of last show's skits, but unfortunately I don't see any clips of U-2 if that's what you were looking for. Somehow, I was able to view all of Coldplay's performances on the recent (within the past couple months) repeat showing of an episode that originally aired just 10 days before the 2008 election. Coldplay played 3 full songs, and even played a 4th, Lovers In Japan during the closing credits. Coldplay was on fire! Even the last song was available on the web site in the "Backstage" link on the SNL site. I've not explored there lately, but you will probably find what you're looking for if you do, and search using Google. Here's a link to Coldplay's backstage performance: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/clips/snl-backstage-coldplay/802701/ Off-topic, but I got a kick out of this skit: http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/clips/flight-announcement/1161180/
  13. Excellent point. When I saw Coldplay on SNL a couple weeks before the 2008 election, I was surprised at how subdued and compromised Chris' performance was. After having seen him perform live in concert, he seemed to be too quiet on SNL, and even his dance movements seemed restrained, as if he were afraid of knocking something over if he moved too much. He also seemed uncharacteristically self-conscious. In contrast, in concert, he is truly like a "lord of his dominion," or a "king in his castle" completely at home in his element, the live venue. SNL or any other TV show, provides a terrible sample of a great concert band's music, with the exception of a performance on a show like the Grammy Awards, which is before an audience of thousands. I've heard opinions that U-2 has been on the decline for years. But these views are from "U-2 haters" just as there are similar jaded opinions about Coldpaly from "Coldplay haters," who have no credibility. They are jealous and don't want to admit the band's greatness. Any band that can still sell out 55,000-capacity stadiums is unquestionably great and beyond criticism. This applies to Coldplay and U-2. I do like U-2's older music. Although I'm not very familiar with it, I loved the U-2 songs that were played right before the Coldplay concert. I also liked the few Jay-Zee songs they played, including the one to which the "Dancing Roadie" performed! U-2 has some beautiful, high energy music, apart from the excellent moral virtues of Bono and the band. As for energy levels, of course Chris will outperform Bono, being some 20 years younger! He turned 32 on 3/2/09. I think Bono does very well considering how long he's been doing this. He must be in his 50s.
  14. Time for a Musical Interlude Brought to You by Coldplay Chris proving he can sing in baritone : [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9HkljEcG9s&feature=related]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9HkljEcG9s&feature=related[/ame] and then ending in all his falsetto glory: [ame= ] [/ame] I wish they had played this at the concerts I attended. One of the most energetic, lovely Coldpaly songs and plenty of Guy-candy. I love how excited the audience always sounds during Coldplay's performance, as the falling confetti melds with the upbeat tempo and melody of the song. I've discovered that this is a great song to dance or exercise to, because it has a decisive, marching tempo. Towards the beginning of the song, Chris is running and then marching to it: [ame= ] [/ame]
  15. After having my computer almost ruined by viruses, I am very cautious about links I don't know or trust. :cheesy:
  16. I know there are many huge U-2 fans out there, so please don't be offended by this comment. It is simply my opinion... I saw U-2 was on SNL last night. I watched their first song, "Three Questions." When the second song came on, I had turned down the volume for the commercial, and I didn't even turn it back up. I've enjoyed hearing some of their music because it's very high energy and Bono has an excellent voice, yes even better than Chris Martin's in my opinion. What Bono and U-2 lack is Chris' and Coldplay's sensitivity and artistic soul. Chris often brings tears to my eyes, Bono does not. Regarding sending an e-mail to coldplay.com, I plan to, but my case isn't as convincing because I hadn't planned on going. I would like to go if they re-schedule. I guess I could at least say that I have a round trip ticket that will go to waste if they don't reschedule. That's true. I think it's important that everyone who suffered loss of time and money because of the Tampa cancelation let Coldplay know in as much detail as possible. They do owe their fans at least a heartfelt apology, if not compensation in whatever form they can provide. If they weren't all fans, they would probably sue for damages! but that would turn fans into adversaries, and spoil the special relationship of being a fan.
  17. I don't know what Rick Rolled is either I don't know what Rick Rolled is either, but I don't want to find out by trial and error. Thanks for the warning. I'm guessing it is something rude and loud, like when you go to some people's Facebook pages and some loud obnoxious music starts playing! This is something worse, I guess.
  18. Why would you not ask for a rescheduling of the Tampa show, when and if Coldplay returns to the U.S.? There is a British soap opera called Hollyoaks. There was a storyline of two gay lovers named John Paul and Craig who had a tumultuous break up. After a barage of fans sent enough e-mails, and after about 9 months, they finally brought back the Craig character, who had left the show, for a couple of weeks to give the fans a "sunset ending." I think the British media is much more accomodating of the audience than in the U.S. and that if enough fans wrote to them, expressing their wishes, they might just add it to their future plans. Even if they don't play Latin America, they are bound to be back in the U.S. for miscellaneous appearances and might just swing by Tampa if they are reminded about how disappointed the fans were not to see their last N.A. show.
  19. I vote for all of the above! Dfit, I love your sig pic. From which concert was that taken? Here's a very short clip from the Wheatland concert I attended, that captures Chris' improv at the end of Violet Hill: [ame= ] [/ame] "If everybody's ready.... if even though it's Tuesday everybody's gonna make a lot of noise..." He also did a great improv during Fix You: "High up above, or down below, If you're sitting in the back of a Coldplay show, Well, if you never make any noise, Then how will we know? Just what your worth?" Ah, thank you Coldplay for such sweet memories!
  20. Just say "Yes" A strange coincidence is that I've had the song "Yes" playing in my mind, in which Chris is singing in an unusually low pitch: "If you'd only, if you'd only say 'Yes' Whether you will is anybody's guess, God only, God knows I'm trying my best, But I'm just so tired of this loneliness." I wish Coldplay would just say "Yes" about coming to Tampa!
  21. Marcia, I'm with you all the way. I go through the same phases of being upset or at least questioning of the band. But, like any good marriage, it all comes back to a basic love that I feel for them, and all is forgiven. Coldplay does bring a lot of love and joy to those who see them in concerts, and it is their passion that makes the difference. I agree. There is some chance that 1) Coldpaly will do a Latin American tour; and 2) They will make a stop in Tampa. After the grueling marathon tour that they just finished, it will probably be months before they make any announcement. If they do a L.A. tour, it would probably begin early next year if they follow the same pattern as they did for X&Y. It might not hurt for as many people as possible to write e-mails to the Colplay.com web site to let them know how disappointed they are that the Tampa show was canceled, including such details as how far one flew or drove, and how much time and money were unnecessarily spent because of the cancellation. I believe Coldplay has a conscience and would make good on it if they could. This should be done soon so as to plant the idea in Phil Harvey's mind as he works on setting up the L.A. tour.
  22. Playlist of Jo Wiley's interview of Coldplay at the Glasgow concert Someone sent me an interesting playlist of Jo Whiley's interview of Coldplay at the recent Glasgow concert, near the end of the tour: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=2CB624C3590274A7 I love the way the person who made and posted the playlist edited out the songs played by other bands. Edit: I must say, listening to this my eyes are tear-filled. Short clip of the South Bank Show interview. Chris on guitar previews a new song. Simply amazing! Playlist of the whole interview here: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=32AECA8E6B13CF93 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBhVuAZu9Xc]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBhVuAZu9Xc[/ame]
  23. I agree completely with that. This website is for fans of Coldplay. "Fan" is short for "fanatical." I would say most people who visit this site are at least somewhat obsessive about their love for the band. That includes such behavior as going to see where they live and places they frequent when one has the chance as Tracey did in London. It would be wrong if she didn't! How many times will she be able to return and do that? Maybe never. It was a once in a lifetime experience, and even if it were not, I think it is only natural to be drawn to the places familiar to someone one loves. I know I would have walked by and haunted the area as much as I could without being mistaken for a paparazzi. I do understand how irritating it must be for celebrities to be constantly followed by them. But fans are different. The motivation is love, not greed. Tracey, don't listen to anyone who criticizes you for acting on your heartfelt love of Chris Martin and Coldplay. I think it was even sweet of you to take pics of Jonny until you were asked not to. It is a moment you wanted to remember and nothing wrong with that. And pics of a car and house? What in the world could possibly be harmed by that? I haven't read all the posts to find out what this is all about, but have scanned a couple to know that these attacks are not coming from a place of love, and at least for me, love is what Coldplay's music is really all about. I don't think true Coldplay fans, who feel as deeply moved as those I have gotten to know in this forum would ever criticize another for expressing one's love for Coldplay and their music. I'll stop there because I believe I only feel love for Coldplay and fellow fans. I would not want to offend anyone unnecessarily, except to remind them of the feeling that Coldplay brings. It is antithetical to hate. "Well, I don't want to battle from beginning to end, I don't want a cycle of recycled revenge; I don't want to follow death and all of his friends." I think if we remember how we felt hearing them in concert, it is hard to stay angry at anyone. I'm using Coldplay's music as a kind of aphrodisiac, protection, and reserve to strengthen and reinvigorate my spirits when I need a lift after something has upset my feelings. It's like having a little food or drink put aside for later when one is really hungry.
  24. Thank you for sharing your Coldplay experience! I'm just now back online after my computer system crashed. A Dell technical aid in the Phillipines deleted some files from the registry, using Dell's new online screen sharing. The computer would not boot after that. I finally got my system back through my own efforts. It was just fortunate that the system had created a restore point before she messed it up. Dell has about the worst technical support. The last person I talked to was going to have me re-install the whole system and told me to back up all of my files, which took 24 hours to do. They had also told me to get a new monitor because it was suddenly incompatible (after using it for 3 years!) As it turned out, the drivers on Dell's website were not up to date. I was able to update them from Nvidia's website. So, Tracey, I finally got to read you account!!! Getting invited to the after-party must have made the whole trip worthwhile, besides the concert itself! I think my heart would have given out if I were to be as close as you were to Chris and Gwenyth! I'm sure you will never forget your Coldplay experience, congratulations again! and thanks for sharing your wonderful odyssey with us. Edit: the love between Gwenyth and Chris is like a living fairy tale and inspires me to believe that true love can be realized in this world if two people operate from the heart. Seeing them together as you describe might have been one of the most inspirational sights ever seen, at least it would have been for me! 25. They took down the Viva banners from the home page. It is sad to think that the VLV tour is really over.
