Finally, my review for the fantastically patient Yellowtalking :nice:
I should maybe say that my name's Erika. :nice:
1.starts softly, with pretty acoustic guitar and humming. Heavier drums come in, unexpectedly, but it’s a nice beat and a pretty melody. Piano, guitar, drums. Singer is singing in a foreign language, so I don’t understand the lyrics, but it sounds really nice! Like this one. :)
I'm happy you liked it! It's "Mannen i den vita hatten" ('The man in the white hat') by the Swedish band Kent. :cheesy:
2. nice guitar intro… “on a day like today…” nice vocals. This reminds me of something, but I can’t put my finger on what exactly. Nice, not my favorite, but quite good.
It's "Into the blue" by Geneva.
3. Sigur Ros, Hoppipola  love this one. It’s actually THE ONLY Sigur Ros song I know… I guess I should check them out. Where do you recommend I start?
 on that song. I really really really love it.
4. This one sounds kind of like stuff from the early 90s… “this monkey’s gone to heaven”? I *think* that’s what they’re saying! :P This one’s Ok.
Yep, you're right. It's Monkey gone to heaven by the Pixies.
5. Interesting guitar intro. Male and female vocalists… like the melody. Like this one. “you just keep on getting closer…”
This is Crystalised by The xx. Haiiaiiiaiii
6. Mmm… definitely different. A bluesy opening… OH! This is the Dave Matthews Band! Probably off their new album? Don’t know this song, but it’s definitely Dave. :)
Of course it's Dave! The song is called Angel and it's from their album Everyday. It's been one of my top 5 songs for many years now
7. Nice guitar intro. Oh, this sounds like David Bowie. I know basically NO David Bowie, but this definitely sounds like him. Liking it! “there’s a starman waiting in the sky…” definitely Bowie!
Yes, it certainly is our dear Ziggy Stardust. The song's called Starman. I really like him
8. Ooh, great instrumentation… a violin and a mandolin! “I wish I was a fisherman…” nice! Really pretty music. The singer sounds nothing like Bruce Springsteen, but for some reason, he reminds me of him.
It reminded me of Bruce the first time I heard it too!
It's one of those songs my mother always plays in the car (and one of the few that I like ). It's Fisherman's Blues by Waterboys.
9. “I love the feeling when we lift off…” good beat; like the singer’s voice. Oooh, I like this. Has a familiar feel to it, but I know I haven’t heard it before. Definitely a rocker… “this fear’s got a hold on me…” Really like this one!
This is Death by White Lies. I've been obsessed since they opened for Coldplay
10. This one sounds quite a bit country (but good country!) “you’re in a tailspin..” this singer’s voice sounds familiar, but I can’t place it. Pretty good!
Tailspin by Jayhawks. One of the few country songs that I like.. Got is from my country-obsessed uncle
11. Synths to open, soaring vocals, wow! This is really cool! Really interesting instrumentation… can’t make out much of the lyrics, but I really like the sound of this one. “I don’t mean to seem like I care about material things…” Interested to find out who this is!
My girls by Animal Collective.
12. Ahhhh! Gorgeous guitar opening… it’s “Romeo and Juliet”! I know the Dire Straits version… this one is definitely different from the version I have. Love it, though!
It's The Killers' version. The only cover I can think of, that's as good as the original.
13. Ooohh, pretty! Female vocalist and piano. “they’re going to eat me alive, if I stumble…” Really like her voice. ”help I’m alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer” Like this one a lot! Oh! It’s a demo! That explains the sparse instrumentation. Like it!!
Help I'm alive by Metric :cheesy:
14. Upbeat, fun. Reminds me of Vampire Weekend. “…I’m not down” fun rhythms and melody. Like!
I'm not down by The Clash (my favourite punk band :awesome:)
15. DMB! The Space Between. :) Probably my favorite song off of that album (which I haven’t really listened to a lot, to be honest). I loved the first 3 DMB albums, then they started to lose me. I should check them out again!
Lovelovelovelove, Dave
16. “Seems like the world’s gone underground…” Nice. Love the vocals. Really pretty.
God says nothing back by the Wallflowers. Vocals are great indeed, it's Bob Dylan's son, Jakob Dylan. :cheesy:
17. “it’s that ancient love…” The singer’s voice is really interesting (in a good way!). Like the melody and instrumentation as well. Sounds like an older track, but I’m probably wrong about that. Like this one.
It's a new track, Dust on the ground by Bombay Bicycle Club. Was released 2009.
18. OK, I confess, I think some of these are out of order because the original track number showed up… so I don’t know if this is supposed to be track 18 in your mix, but that’s where I’m putting it. “I don’t feel alright…” Pretty melody, high voice. Like the guitar. “why don’t we share our solitude…” just simple repeated guitar and piano chords, until it breaks into a fuller sound a couple of minutes in. It’s a very nice melody and nice sound, but it does go on for quite a while there at the end. Overall good, though could have been a lot shorter!
Mew Mew Mew Mew!
Comforting sounds.
19. Wow! That’s a high voice for what I’m assuming is a man. It’s a pretty song… can’t make out a lot of the lyrics… something about “underneath the windowsill…” “Let us be happy while we’re still young” I like it. :)
Geneva again, the song's called Tranquilizer.
20. the “protected” track you informed me is supposed to be Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb. I will confess, I am NOT a Pink Floyd fan. The only song I really like by them is “Wish You Were Here”. This one’s OK, though.
Nothing much to say here.. But I've grown up with that song and I still love it. :)
21.!!!!!! A Message 2010!!!!!! Love, love, love
Simply
Thank you so so so much for your long review, and I'm happy you liked it! :D
