In the UK (certainly to a far greater extent than other European countries I've visited, though maybe its a cultural thing that only becomes clear after a great deal of exposure) theres a HUGE difference in the quality of our newspapers and whom they're targetting, to the extent that you can actually tell a great deal about someone just from their choice in newspaper. Daily Mail / Daily Express - Age 40-80, loves racism, the royal family, The Who and Abba, hates recreational drug use and immigrants (legal, obviously, but try telling them that) and asylum seekers living in houses that cost more than 150k (ie, almost every house). Voted Conservative if they're slightly left-leaning, UKIP if they're not. The Sun / The Star - Age 15-90, loves racism, football and the Kings of Leon, cannot understand polysyllabic words. Main features include AWESOME PUNS in the headlines and breasts on the third page, every day, without exception. Voted Conservative. The Observer / The Guardian - Age 20-30, has a subscription to The New Internationalist, probably lives in Brighton and voted for The Green Party or lives in London and voted Lib Dems. Listens to obscure indie no one has ever heard of. Went to university and has a useless degree in Philosophy / Theology / Art History (delete as appropriate). I really could go on and on and on...

Chuff can also be used as part of the phrase 'take it up the chuff', which is very common in the West.

Yossarian is - unsurprisingly I'm sure - what is called in these parts a true individual, a free spirit. Every time Yossarian is chatting up a lady she is utterly seduced and is all "I've never met anyone like you", and expects Yossarian to sleep with her just for that, but Yossarian doesn't take it as a compliment because there isn't anyone like him.

Yossarian only smokes cigarettes if he is drinking alcohol or doing ecstasy, and he only smokes weed if he is watching Coen Brothers films or listening to M.I.A.
