The 8th Mixtape Exchange (Links in first post)
Yay, got my partner! And I'm pretty glad about it  but also a bit stressed out... Anyway, as I always say during mixtape exchanges, I don't have lastfm so I may be hard to stalk. You can only find my previous mixtapes. But, to whoever got me, it's not a big deal at all as I'm really openminded about music and always happy to discover new stuff or just listening to some tracks I already knew. I also love reviewing and I always try to be as honest as I can. To sum up, put what YOU like, I'm already happy to have a mixtape to review :)

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Hello dear Mixtape Maker! Nice to meet you! Thanks for all your explanations :) Yeah, I'll definitely have a look at this album :) Oh so you fastened it! Well, I do like The Police in general but well, I guess some of their tracks don't manage to catch me. Oh OK! I understand why I couldn't put words on what I felt, it has a soul/funky vibe on it so I didn't know what to think about it. Simply Red, how didn't I recognize this artist  And btw, I'm a Barry fan :D See, it's an example of how lame I am about old music. I know The Smiths by name and reputation but never listened to them. I definitely will :) As strange as it seems, I'll be checking out this artist though I didn't like this track, I guess he's not famous for nothing ;). I like hispanic music and want to discover more of it so if you have any advice, don't hesitate :) HAHAHA you cracked me up  I also totally agree with you about the musicians! The Four Tops... Obviously! I suck :\ I should listen to them more! Yeah, I remembered afterwards that Claude François used to cover some Motown songs. No way! I'd have sworn it was an old one! Wonder why I never checked The Smashing Pumpkins' music... Got lots of mistakes to repair haha ;) Oh thanks  My guess about my mixtape maker was absolutely wrong, though I was 100% sure you were a boy  It was a pleasure for me! Don't apologize 'bout the songs I didn't like, you took some risks with some of the tracks, and with this "oldie mixtape" in general, and I really appreciate that. I listened to it again after I reviewed it and I liked it even more! Thank you again, I really suck about old music in general and you definitely opened my mind to it! I'll be checking some artists as I said, I'll let you know :)

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Here's my review! As usual, I wrote all my impressions during the first listening and I listened to it once again to make sure I didn't miss something. Sorry for my english mistakes. 1 – Nice guitars, nice bass line! I pretty much like it at the first notes. Here comes the voice, a male one. I like it, the echo effect makes the sound kinda deeper. The song grows on me, great track to start the tape! Like the guitar riffs. The song sounds a bit melancholic, I can easily imagine myself listening to it on my way back home, walking on the snow... Great track, can’t wait to know who it is :) 2 – Oh, funny beginning! A synth? Here come the drums, a fast rhythm. Sounds old, almost psychedelic! The voice and the flow really remind me Sting, though I’m not sure at 100% it’s him. Well, no doubt, it’s Sting! The song seems to be «Synchronicity» by the lyrics. Haven’t heard it before. Not my style, I admit the song didn’t catch me. 3 – Jazzy beginning? Like the bass line and the electric guitar. An old one too! Haha sounds really old, almost «cliché» but don’t be offended, it’s fun to hear some stuff like that! Really, I feel like I’m in the 80’s, or 90’s! This song is good but the sounding is really old, especially the male voice, I don’t really know what to think about it to be honest… 4 – HAHA!! Nirvana!! Come As You Are! Not a huge fan of them but this one definitely rocks !! It’s good to hear Kurt Cobain, it’s been a while since I haven’t listen to him :) Really enjoying it! 5 – Hell yeah! Bittersweet Symphony :D I LOVE THIS SONG!! Been a while since I haven’t heard it! Aaaaaah, I’m gonna enjoy it and stop writing right now… See you next track :D 6 – Great intro, electic guitar riff! Haha another one from the oldies box :D Oh shit, I know this voice, really know it, but I can’t find who it is! Anyway… I guess it’s from the 80’s. I really like this guitar! The rhythm is great too, I like the drums. I enjoyed the song overall :) 7 – Little guitar riff to begin, like it! A live one. Sounds like an old one too… Haha, definitely an old one! Oh shit, who is it… Sting again? I like the sax part. I don’t really like this song though, it doesn’t catch me that much. 8 – A long one… 8 minutes and half! Begins with a synth, sounds like an old one too… Electric guitars, drums, I like it! Thumbs up for the bass line too! Reminds me Who Are You by The Who. Is it The Who? I really like this old sounding! My fav from the unknown oldies so far :) But I have to say the track is a bit long for me. 9 – This one starts fastly, I like the male voice, and the folk guitar too! We’re still time travelling, it’s an old one I think. I really like it! The chorus is good, with violins. Really enjoying it :) 10 – Starting with a great folk guitar and a pan flute I think. Sounds a bit like traditional music, don’t know how to explain my feeling better lol! I love how the rhythm changes during the chorus. The guy has a great voice! Seems like an old one too. This track is really interesting! 11 – WOOHOOOOOOO! The Rolling Stones – Miss You :D Love this song, what else can I say… Pure awesomeness! Just dancing on my chair right now  (it’s midnight…) See you next track :D 12 – Piano, some trumpet (?)… A male voice, singing in Spanish I think cause I can understand him a bit… A romantic one I’d say. The man’s voice is OK, not amazing though, but I don’t like his way of singing. Ouch, don’t like the bridge at all, it sounds wrong… Don’t like how he hits the high notes. Too bad cause the music is really good, especially this jazzy piano which sets a really dreamy romantic mood. 13 – Weird beginning, a synth I think… Oh what’s this? Very fast drums, like in these old video games when you’re in a rude, rude world lol! Wow, really fast for me, I feel uncomfortable now, LOL! Fascinating how the pianist and the drummer play sooo fast! It reminds me a track of Miles Davis in his funky/rock period. Don’t like this instrumental one I admit, too fast for me, especially after midnight, haha! But the work the musicians made on this one is impressive though! 14 – WOOT! SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY! U2! Not a great fan of them but well, this one is a classical one, awesome song! Haha I’m gonna enjoy it, it’s been too long! See you next track :D 15 – OOOOOOH! NO WAY! It’s «Reach out, I’ll be there»! Can’t remember who’s singing this one… I can’t help but have the french lyrics of Claude François (don’t know if he covered it or if he made the original track) in my head hahaha!! really enjoyed listening to it, I love this kind of old motown tracks, back in the 60’s or 70’s :) 16 – The last one… Like how it begins, with the drums. A pop rock one, still an old one I think, a male voice, like it. Sounds a bit melancholic, great way to end this tape, still in this old songs mood, it fits :) I like how catchy is this song, really want to know who it is! Well, thank you mixtape maker! I enjoyed the tape overall, I had big smile while listening to it! I really enjoyed listening to some good old tracks I hadn’t heard for a while. I also enjoyed discovering some old songs I didn’t know, although I didn’t like all of them. Funny thing is I love music and I manage to discover actual stuff but I don’t really know well old music, especially the rock genre, though I really like it. So thank you, I think you opened my mind to this and I really thank you for that! I think I guessed who you are but as I’m not 100% sure I’m just gonna shut up :D I’m really looking forward to know who all the artists are, especially for the first and last tracks ! So… reveal yourself… NOW! :whip: :D

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Hey Noémie! I'm your mixtape maker!! Funny isn't it? :D You're welcome :) To be honest, you weren't supposed to be my partner. I knew it when I send my link and tracklist (late) to ivet... LOL! If I knew you were my partner, I'd certainly wouldn't have put the same songs (and added some Hurts and Florence + The Machine tracks hahaha... kidding ;) ) But anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it! And don"t worry about the length of your review, I know how hard it is to describe songs, even more in English, that's why it always take me hours to write a review. Well so, I'm gonna comment your review and put a condensed tracklist at the end. Funny thing is you said some things that I expected :D So, my mixtape is named 'One day in a life' cause I wanted to describe my usual mood during an ordinary day, with ups and downs. I Woke Up Today - Port O'Brien Glad, you liked it! I like the vocals too. This song always set me in a happy mood! I thought it was a good song to open the mixtape, especially with my theme. It seems to say "OK EVERYBODY WAKE UP!" :D I commend you their 2 first album as you seem to like this one, they're really folk. The last one is quieter but really interesting too. Wrist watch - Hungry Kids Of Hungary Yep, totally agree, a bit Vampire Weekend-ish :D The rhythm is fast, that's true! It's a short one but really "efficient" if you wanna wake up ^^ I love starting my day with fast songs, really :D Their first album is really, really great, you should definitely check it out :) They're australian. Holidays - Miami Horror Yeah, glad you like it!! One of my fav from their debut album. Love this little funky vibe on it, really makes you wanna dance! Check the album, it's great, you're gonna dance alone in your room, trust me :D They're australian too (yeah, australian bands really rock!) and I thank tauiwi for getting me into them during the past two exchanges :) Baby I'm Yours - Breakbot Ok so, here's a compatriot of ours Noémie! Breakbot is a french DJ, I like his stuff cause it's funky electro, with a retro vibe. And no, it isn't an old track, it's from his first E.P, out a few months ago :D Everybody has this reaction "it's an old track!" and I love to tell them it's from 2010 :) Christopher Walken On Sunshine (feat. Princess Superstar) - Shawn Lee Yep, kinda R&B style! Just like how the song brings some sun in my ears when I hear it (good to start a day so). I totally understand it's not your style though :) Never Give You Up - The Black Keys Haha, again you thought it was an old track! It's from their last album, 'Brothers', out a few months ago. I understand you didn't like the voice. But there are 2 singers in this band and this album is really brilliant so it's worth to give them a try I think. The past songs were a bit funky I'd say, I love this style so I wanted to make my partner discover it a bit. I have this tradition to put a jazzy tune on my tapes but didnt dare to do it this time :/ Excuses - The Morning Benders Hey glad you liked it! It's the opener of their last album, 'Big Echo', and I find it very amazing, my fav of them so far. I commend you to check this album :) Do you remember when I texted you in May or June and said "hey, there's a great band coming in your town, you should go check them out!"? Well, that's them :D Figures - Little Comets Love his voice, the guitar is just awesome. Funny cause it's the most serious song I know of them! Thanks tauiwi for getting me into them on the first exchange :) Haha I knew this part of the mixtape wouldn't amaze you that much! Another compatriot: Mother - Cocoon You must have heard a thousand time 'Comets' on french TV. Mother is from their last album too and my fav of it. And another one: Bye Bye - You And You A french guy, with one E.P I absolutely love. Hope he's gonna get a bit more famous. And track 11 is Jordanna - Ola Podrida An american band I love. For those who like acoustic stuff, with lots of guitar, go check them out, they're awesome! Hazelton - Justin Vernon A genius! Love 'Hazeltons', his last solo album, and all the stuff he made with Bon Iver. Thanks doritji who told me to go check his stuff during the last exchange :) The Easy Mark And The Old Maid - Bad Books Haha yeah, you're right, Beach House! My 2010 revelation... Love them too!! This band is getting quite famous but I wanted to put a track of them anyway. So I chose this one, Gila. This song is originally from their second album but they covered it in 2010 for an iTunes session, which is absolutely brilliant btw. I'll give it to you if you want :) Daydreaming - Dark Dark Dark YAY!!! I really hoped, I mean REALLY, you liked this one! The voice is just AMAZING. The first time I heard it I just couldn't move anymore :stunned: I put it on repeat like ten times at least... The lyrics are just outstanding. I always like to put this song when I'm on my way back home so that's why it's at the end of the tape. Their last album is a bit special but interesting too. Simple Way - Port O'Brien God, you're awesome! Exactly, I wanted to close the tape with this song cause I always feel like "OK, it's time to rest your head now..." when I hear this song. So glad you felt what I wanted to tell. It's Port O'Brien again, the lyrics and the chords are the same as I Woke Up Today, the opener of my tape so I thought it was a good choice. It's the last song of their first album too. No probs dear Noémie, it was a pleasure to read you :) If you want some material (some albums are hard to find), please, don't hesitate! I'd be very glad to share :nice: PS: Can't wait to gig again with you ;) Here's a condensed tracklist: # - Title – Artist – Album – Year – Country 1 – I Woke Up Today – Port O’Brien – All We Could Do Was Sing – 2008 – USA 2 – Wrist watch – Hungry Kids Of Hungary – Escapades – 2010 – Australia 3 – Holidays – Miami Horror – Illumination – 2010 – Australia 4 – Baby I’m Yours – Breakbot – Baby I’m Yours (E.P) – 2010 – France 5 – Christopher Walken On Sunshine (feat. Princess Superstar) – Shawn Lee – Sing A Song – 2010 – USA 6 – Never Give You Up – The Black Keys – Brothers – 2010 – USA 7 – Excuses – The Morning Benders – Big Echo – 2010 – USA 8 – Figures – Little Comets – Adultery (single release) – 2010 - U.K 9- Mother – Cocoon – Where The Oceans End – 2010 – France 10 – Bye Bye – You And You – Songs, Stories And Magic Tricks (E.P) – 2010 – France 11 – Jordanna – Ola Podrida – Ola Podrida – 2007 – USA 12- Hazelton – Justin Vernon – Hazeltons – 2006 – USA 13 – The Easy Mark And The Old Maid – Bad Books – Bad Books – 2010 – USA 14 – Gila – Beach House – iTunes Session – 2010 – USA/France 15 – Daydreaming – Dark Dark Dark – Wild Go – 2010 – USA 16 – Simple Way – Port O’Brien – The Wind And The Swell – 2007 - USA EDIT: And here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.mediafire.com/?ue0ukyriseidh3v

Yay, I'll be allowed to participate!! :p But I also really agree with you. It's difficult to exclude people for this. As loudefix said, I think that the activity matters, not necessarily the amount of posts. It's really hard to know if a person will do this properly, even if she has a low post count.
-
The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
@loudefix: haha you revealed some of our (very funny) queuing conversations ^^ (can't wait to gig again with you btw :D ) @violet: yeah, we talked about you, and what I said was not nice, it was just the truth ;) I really mean it :nice: I'm glad you were loudefix's mixtaper, funny how things happen sometimes! I'm really sorry for those who didn't have a mixtape, it's too bad... But I'd be shattered (yeah, really) if you put a higher minimum post requierement for the next exchange cause I' won't be able to participate again :uhoh: Well, about my review: Dear mixtape maker, I'm downloading your tape but I'm really busy and exhausted these days. As I want to do things properly, I'll try to review it when my head will be a bit rested, tomorrow evening hopefully :) Can't wait to listen to it! Thank you in advance!

The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Thanks for the PM ivet! Glad to know who's my partner, hope my mixtape won't suck though. To whoever got me, I think it will be a bit hard to stalk me but anyway, don't be afraid, I'm really open minded and I love reviewing so... Put whatever YOU like!
-
The 7th Mixtape Exchange (1ST POST UPDATE)
Well, you can do whatever you want! I think it's easier to make a mixtape when you know who's your partner, and, yes, you can check his/her profile/lastfm or everything else that can help you to know his/her musical tastes. Anyway, I think the most important point is to put what YOU like. Personally, I always have an idea of the artists I'll put in the mixtape before the matches are done and when I know who's my partner I work on it. But I don't really like "stalking" as I don't want to be too influenced. I only check if the person will know the artists or not to be as original as possible. Here's my opinion! Hope it helped :)

The 6th Mixtape Exchange (closed for entries)
So, here’s my review for iPsy mixtape. Yeah, late, waaaay too late, I know… Anyway, there was an artwork, a very funny one, with a skeleton with two heads playing acoustic guitar. We can read under it « me and mark ». I’m very curious to know what it is ! Track 1 : Starts with a pretty happy song, with some clapping and electric guitar ! Love how the chords are palm muted, it gives a great rythm to the song ! Like the voice too, it gives you a really happy mood. Really great introduction for a mixtape ! Seems like I know this voice but can’t say who it is though ! Like those riffs, it really gives the song a dreamy mood, like you don’t care about anything :D ! Track 2 : Pop song ! Drums, synth, electric guitar in the beginning and then voices ! Piano too ! A nice male voice ! An easy listening one, it is a great transition, continues the happy mood but in a less dreamy way. This one is cool, but the sounding is not that original I’d say. But as I said it’s a great transition, it fits well. Like the synth and what seems to be xylophone, instrumental parts are brought very cleverly together. Track 3 : Synth effect, starts slowly. Violin, like this ! Then piano, seems to be a sad one. Oh, this male voice is coming, a great one. The sounding is particular, with this piano, very sad but also… Unreal, like in a nightmare or don’t know what. The drums are coming, make the song pretty scary in the sounding… Weird beacause it’s a really sad song, the voice is really catchy, the lyrics are sad too but it’s doesn’t move me that much. The rhythm is increasing, with drums and distortion guitar. This song disturbs me, I don’t manage to enjoy it… But it’s really intersting, I’d rather be disturbed by a song that being indifferent to it ! The sounding reminds me Patrick Watson in a way. Oh… the end is so scary, very brutal as when a teacher woke you up by hitting your desk with a punch. Track 4 : A melancholic one ! More classical, folk guitars are leading the track. A male voice ! It’s a pretty mellow song that you could easily hear in a tv show. I really enjoy it, though the lyrics are a bit… « young » but I love guitars so… Oh the song is taking off, with drums and distorsion guitars ! Like this change ! Seems like the guy is waking up ! Oh, a « a cappella » part is coming, it’s funny cause the lyrics are a bit sad but the voices reminds me The Offspring in the way of singing ! Track 5 : Electro beginning ! Seems to be a funnier one ! Very intersting beginning ! Oh, funny song, really ! A male voice again, particular way of singing, reminds me Boy George ! Definitely an electro one ! Haha I’m enjoying this one, it’s a really interesting track ! The instru is really funny ! But the lyrics are sad, like this paradox ! Love how they play with the balance, there’s always something to hear backward ! But it’s a bit repetitive… Oh the bridge is cool, still in the same mood ! I’m very curious to know the artist !! Track 6 :Oh, a fast transition ! Reggae style in the singing at the beginning, with this particular flow. And also in the rhythm, made by the synth. Oh, it’s original cause, in my opinion, this song seems to have 2 big influences : rock and reggae, never heard something like that before and I’m glad to do so now ! It’s a really catchy song, makes you wanna move ! The instru is definitely electro with some electric guitar backwards. Really enjoyed this one ! I’m really curious to know who it is ! Track 7 : Electric distortion guitar ! A rock one, in the genre of Simple Plan. I really like when the song becomes quiter in the chorus, it emphasize the singer’s voice which is great. It’s too bad cause I really like this part of the song but not the other ones with lots of guitar… I’m a bit annoyed right now ! I’m frustrated cause I really love the chorus but not the rest of the song !! Too bad, I think this song could have been one of my fav. Track 8 : Piano, really quiet… Great male voice. Sounds sad… Just closing my eyes and waiting for the song to make me travel… A female voice is coming for the chorus, still only a piano, it’s really nice, the voices fit well. They keep on singing together. Drums are coming backwards, what I expected ! They are in a military way I’d say. I thought the song would take off a lil bit more, but it’s great it stands this way. Another male voice is coming at the end, a younger one… Drums disappeared… A really beautiful song ! We can really hear passion in it. Track 9 : Folk guitar, a young male voice, he sings pretty high. Violins backwards, like it ! A mellow song. The song is taking off slowly, electric guitar, synth, drums, bass… Really well done, this song grows on me, although I thought it wouldn’t move me at the beginning ! Really enjoyed this one, went way too fast ! Track 10 : Oh, I SURELY know this voice !! Damn, can’t remember who it is !! Anyway, male voice, piano, bass, guitar… A common pop rock song. OK, now I’m REALLY ANNOYED cause I KNOW THIS VOICE !! It’s not really a original song but it’s well done ! Track 11 : Oh, brutal beginning ! Trumpets ? Drums, great bass line ! A female voice ! Great to hear some female here ! It’s a duet, with a man ! Sounds really good ! The trumpets and the drums brings a « circus » mood ! Could easily be a song for a show with some dancing or in some musical. I can imagine a show right now ! Really great song ! Catchy and original ! WTF is this end ??? It just broke me… Really brutal ! So disappointed, I was in this great mood... Track 12 : A really weird transition, electric guitar, some voices singing fast. A happy mood ! Like this beginning, Love their flow ! I recognize The Feeling lead singer’s voice, but I’m not sure, don’t know this song ! Really enjoy it, the guitars are great and this shy bass line too ! The rhythm is awesome ! Really like it, makes you wanna move ! Oh hell yeah it’s so catchy, the guitars are really awesome !! I can really imagine this one live, with all the band and the crowd going crazy ! Track 13 : Haha I love Ian Ball’s voice ! Gomez ! Like this band, though I only know ‘How We Operate’, from which is coming this song, « Girlshapedlovedrugs ». Really great song, catchy, in the same mood as the previous one, in a quieter way. « Dooooooooooon’t ask me whyyyyyyyyyyy… The girlshapedlovedrugs messes with my mind ! » Love this line :) Track 14 : Electric guitar, drums, bass : rock song ! A fast one. Reminds me a bit Editors but this voice is not as amazing as Tom Smith’s one :p A dark song, I like it, though this voice doesn’t catch me that much. Track 15 : Oh, I know this song… It was on the mixtape I had from doritji or on kat iveson’s one I reviewed… I really loved it !! But I can’t remember who’s singing, shame on me  really love this song and its melancholic mood but with some hope too, this voice is amazing, with this broken thing. « And if you’re homesick, give me a hand and I’ll hold it… » This line really catched me last time, and soi t does now. I’m really enjoying this song, again ! Don’t have anything more to say !! Track 16 : Piano, echo sounding, love this at the first notes ! Drums come, echo effect is stopping. Really like this beginning ! Already heard this song before, can’t remember when and where !! Oh god I’m so dumb… Built To Last ! From the band Melee ! I really loved this band at the time, their album was great too ! A pop song, very catchy, like the singer’s voice. I really enjoy it, I’m glad to hear it again, it’s been a while :) Thank you ! The piano riff is really catchy ! Track 17 : Oh, electric guitar, bass, drums, a rock song. Another young male voice. The rhythm is pretty fast but the song isn’t that much, weird I know, but can’t find another words… Piano, synth trumpets and violin came sometimes. This song doesn’t really grabs me, don’t know why… Maybe it’s a bit repetitive, don’t know. Seems like there are too many moods in it, it disturbs me a bit. Track 18 : Last one, same mood as the previous one ! A male voice, a rock one, I like it ! Like this rhythm, with this groovy thing. A happy mood, as the beginning of the mixtape ! It’s a catchy song ! Again, it’s not a very original song but it’s really well done in this genre, this groovy thing brings the song to another dimension. Great way to finish the tape, as it started ! Again, sorry for the belated reply… What I can say about this mixtape is that it’s really interesting because there are some really common songs and some really original ones ! I wished the transitions were a bit better but well, it gives it a more authentic atmosphere so that’s fine ! And I enjoyed the fact that I didn’t expected at all each song song you put in. I recognized 2 songs and really enjoyed them but I’m really annoyed cause I know some of these artists, I’m sure, but I didn’t manage to guess who they were :bomb: I’ll surely listen to this mixtape again as I loved some of the tracks ! I know you already put the tracklist on the thread but I’d be very glad if you put it again with some details :embarrassed: Thank you !!

Thanks for the tracklist! That's funny because I know most of the artists by name and reputation and already heard some songs from them but haven't recognized any (or almost!) ! I guess I have a good reason to check them out now :) Yep, totally agree!! Thank you very much Dave, you did an awesome job :nice:

So, as I promised a few days ago, here's my review for kat_iveson's tape! I'm really sorry for the delay, I was supposed to do it this weekend but I've been busy... So, here it is! First, I saw the cover of the first song, and was afraid all the covers were there... But it appeared to be the cover of the mixtape, a picture of a band, in black and white, they are 5 young boys. Seems like I know one of the boys (with this nike tee shirt) but can't recognize the band... Anyway! MUSIC TIME :D Track 1 : loud drums, electric guitar, bass line. Rock !! voice is nice, seems young. A good rock sound, great opener for the tape ! Like the birdge, quieter. « Wake up wake up hey ! » Yeah really good song, like the energy, this song wanna take you, these people wanna make you enjoy with them ! The guitars are especially good, and the drumming too ! Really like this one ! Like the « Hey ! » they shout ! Track 2 : Really rock again, starts with an electric guitar in distortion. Then an electro sound, a synth. Really rock again ! Rhythm is slower than the previous one, and it sounds definitely electro. Like this one too ! The transition is really good with the previous one. Haha so far, this tape seems to shout « FUUUUN ! », like this song ! Electro rock is a genre I really like when it’s well done, and here it is ! This song is cool. I like this little melancholy thing we can feel, but not that much. Oh the bridge is good with this piano, synth, and guitar ! This song grows on me :) Track 3 : electric guitar, sounds more melancholic. Drums, guitars. All the instruments are brought very cleverly. This man’s voice coming confirm my thoughts, it’s a bit more melancholic. Great transition, again ! The chorus kinda annoys me… I liked this song at the beginning but now I feel a bit bored, maybe the drumming and strumming pattern is a bit repetitive for me, the same during the chorus and the verses, a bit too much… But I like the mood of this song though, melancholic but full of hope. Oh, it gets better, the bridge is good, love the guitar ! And then we get back to the song. Really, like the voice, like the mood but got a bit bored… Too bad ! I’ll let this song another chance I think cause I kinda like it. I’ll try to listen to it another time. Track 4 : wow, heavy guitars ! drums ! And a violin ! Really great, really clever, once again ! The voice is a bit common but it fits well, and it’s nice. The mood is still a bit melancholic but the rhythm is faster so that’s great. Love the way they go back to the verse right after the chorus, really fast, don’t let you get bored. Bridge is good too, like the drums, the violins that are coming back, the clapping… Interesting song ! « looking for something else, for something else… » those lines get stucked in my head :) Like the way it ends, brutally. Track 5 : Oh, really different sound ! Bass line, great electric guitar repetitive riff, drums… A female voice ! Great voice, love her flow ! Very original ! This song kinda takes you and makes you travel ! Really catchy ! Foot’s tapping head’s shaking in rhythm :D Like the mood of this song but can’t really describe it… A quieter song than the previous ones but still really powerful… Like the little folk guitar riff ! I’m not a big fan of female voices but this one is really great ! Reminds me of Nelly Furtado but in a better way lol ! Great song, enjoyed it ! Track 6 : Oh, acoustic guitar ! Really quieter ! A good rock indie song, a male voice. The chorus reminds me of Simple Plan. The kind of song you could easily hear on a tv show (no offense, just saying it sort of reminds me some memories). Like the violins, they bring this little thing that emphasizes the melancholic side. A more « classical » rock song, easy listening, but it really fits well in the tape. Like how the rhythm switches in one of the last chorus. Track 7 : folk guitar, little reverb effect, like it ! male voice is coming, very good voice ! Original ! Like the way he sings ! It’s upbeat, with this melancholic instru, love it :) Violins are great ! I really love his flow ! This voice is the most original one I heard in this mixtape ! Like the way he hits the high notes, this guy can really sing ! The rhythm is really original too ! love the drumming and the strumming pattern ! Everything fits well in this song, the violins, the voice, the drumming… It’s really not too much ! Already finished ? I think this one is one of my fav so far :) Track 8 : starts with an electro effect, then piano and electric guitar. Male voice, pretty low. Like it too ! Like how the rhythm increases ! Like this little xylophone (or don’t know what) backwards during the chorus. Like the choirs ! Really enjoying this song ! One more time, everything fits perfectly. Oh a synth is coming, that’s great. The bridge is kinda weird though… But the way they come back to the song is great ! Like the mood of this one too, it’s full of hope, a bit serious, hard to describe ! Track 9 : Soft electric guitar, male voice. Like the way drums and bass came in. Seems I know the voice… Don’t know this song though. A really quiet song, with violins backwards, but also grabbing you, I like the rhythm and the way the chords switch fastly but not brutally. Another great « soft rock » song, pretty common but well done in this genre, like it ! This voice is really good, enjoying it more and more. The rhythm and the power increase step by step, gives another dimension to the song. Love the violins at the end ! Track 10 : Great folk reverbed guitar picking. Like this folky voice ! Seems a bit old but don’t know if it is. Like the piano. The instru is not heavy, not that much instruments. Piano, banjo bass are coming, that’s great ! Then we’re coming back to the simple instru. The song always seems to take off at some moments with the banjo and everything ! That’s really original ! And then we go back to the simple instru. That’s really original ! It grabs you, you’re always wondering what will come next ! Not my kind of music but I really enjoyed ! Track 11 : Organ then drums, bass line, electric guitar, male voice. Oh yeah, we’re coming back to the rock style ! But not that hard, it really fits well with the previous one as it’s not that fast and that heavy. The voice is pretty common but really enjoyable. The electric guitar solo is good ! There’s something in this song that sounds electro. Fading out at the end. Track 12 : piano, drums… A bit dark… Male voice, great one. Like the echo backwards. Synth came, brings the electro side of the song, bass line too. The drums start « waking up », like it ! The power, the rhythm, everything is increasing ! Very clever, once again ! Oh yeah, the song took off ! Synth, drums… Really like this one ! The more it goes, the more the song seem brighter… It’s a long one, that’s great to see this change of mood. At the middle it gets quieter, like in the beginning. And then it takes off again, really great, with this synth. Everything fits perfectly. Really original song, enjoyed it ! Like the way it ends, softly, with the piano Track 13 : Male voice ! Folk guitar picking, really great, bass line is good too ! This mood is really strange, can’t find words to describe it ! This guitar picking is really awesome, with the slides and some strums. We can hear a synth backwards, it bring some unreal dimension to the song ! Oh a short one ! Already finished ! Track 14 : Drums, bass line, guitar riff, good male voice… Seems to be a common soft rock song ! Like the drumming ! I have to mention the litle synth backwards, it brings something more to the song. The instru part becomes heavier at the middle of the song, with the drums and the guitar. The heavy part comes again, with violins too and trumpets. Brings it to a really melancholic mood. Original song again ! Thought it would be a « common soft rock song » but it appeared to be more than this ! Interesting track ! Track 15 : Male voice, folk guitar, choirs. Great ! Like the way it sounds ! It’s really nice, brings you into a feel good mood, without being mellow ! Electric distortion guitar, violin, female voice backwards… Confirms what I thought first ! The lyrics are great too « sweet heart, get so much freedom, but freedom is just another word… » really like these voices ! The violins are loud but don’t brings this into a tragical way, neither a mellow one, just a « feel good » feeling… Hard to describe, one more time ! Really enjoyed this one ! Track 16 : Guitar : seems like the guy is rehearsing, tapping on his guitar. Then it starts ! Love these guitars ! Folk, strummig pattern is great ! Oh this voice is really nice !!! It seems young, but it’s really great, really soothing, with a little broken thing… These guitars are really great ! I love this kind of acoustic songs, it’s been a long time I haven’t listen to that kind of music, that’s really pleasant cause it was one my fav genre for a long time. This song seems to warn me : it’s almost the end ! Track 17 : High strings at the beginning, great transition ! OOOOOOOOOOH FLOREEEENCE AND THE MACHINE !! OH YEAH :) COSMIC LOVE ! One of my fav ! Really great version, acoustic one ! Oh it’s awesome :) Just enjoying it (and singing along :D ) A great ending ! Well done  I really enjoyed this mixtape ! The transitions were really clever, and I feel like you wanted to do a great job, and you succeeded ! It’s funny because I don’t have a favourite track this time (except cosmic love but that doesn’t count as I knew it), I usually have some crushes when I review a mixtape. Here I really liked all the tracks the same way, except cosmic love (already explained why :D ) and track 3 which I liked less. I liked the way you explored the rock music genre, with some electro rock, soft indie rock… I’m really impatient to know the tracklist as I didn't know any of the tracks, or almost!! It was a pleasure to review this tape so thank you ! And again, sorry for the delay!!
