Lost: Season 6 (The Finale) [OFFICIAL THREAD]
Ehhh, this show has really gone downhill in season six I"m thinking. I dunno but, nothing really surprises me anymore, and all the characters are doing the same stuff they've always done. Kate's being secretive, Sawyer is conning the Smoke Monster disguised as Locke, Jack is doubting everything, Sayyid is verging on being emo now. And yea, nothing really relevant is happening at all in the alternate universe. I thought it was cool that Jack went to Locke and gave his business card, saying he may make him walk again, but it didn't go anywhere after that...well, yet. ANd I dunno, this season is about an all-out sort of end-game happening on the island, but it really doesn't feel as urgent and high-stakes as season four. Well sure, the fate of the world apparently hangs in the balance, but we've seen that so many times before, haven't we?

That movie is perfect.

2010 most anticipated records (not in order)
My Bloody Valentine!

Rolling Stone's Albums Of The Decade
sidenote: Pyramid Song is Radiohead's very best song ever made. haha

Rolling Stone's Albums Of The Decade
Kid A is definitely not the album of the decade. Extremely overrated IMO. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is pretty good....but definitely not a number three.....Wilco have made better albums... Glad to see Sleater-Kinney on there though!

2010: The Anticipation Thread
wishful-thinking to the extreme here......but a new My Bloody Valentine, and most importantly, one on par with Loveless....would be miraculous and amazing. It would be a pleasant surprise, after the 19 year gap after the last release.

My Bloody Valentine
argh...yea, IF. haha I don't know...it's just aggrivating. The suspense is just killing me...Anyone ever get this with a band? It's a tough place to be in too, because if the suspense builds too much, you end up running the risk of being inevitably letdown by the payoff.....like Forth by The Verve. haha And yes, Only Shallow is awesome!

The Vanishing (UK version)
Okay...so I just finished this movie and I have to say it's the most disturbing thing I've ever seen...I don't know if I can watch this again...knowing what the twist is. Has anyone else here seen this movie? And if so, is it possible that there's a film more disturbing than this? lol

My Bloody Valentine
bumping this thread up! ...does anybody have ANY news about ANY new songs or (really pushing my luck here) album?? This is the best band out there and I thank God they're reformed, and Loveless may be the best album of all time.......but the wait for the new material is just plain frustraiting!.....Sorry, just needed to vent that.

Wilco
both A Ghost Is Born and Wilco (The Album) are damn good.........but out of personal preference, I'd say A Ghost Is Born is better........there's just more subtlety and more to discover.....which I personally like about it.... Summerteeth is by far their best CD though...and Being There.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. I didn't consider Jacob. Yea, I'm not aware of his involvement on the island yet. I'm just puttin that theory out having gotten up to episode eight of season four. It's just I'm not so certain about Michael coming back into the show now. haha

Okay so I did some research, (went on YouTube and qikipedia) haha, and apparently the smoke monster is what those of the Dharma Intiative refer to as the Cerberus, right? The Cerberus was the three-headed dog that guards Hades, or the underworld (not too sure on this one) in Greek Mythology (again, not sure about this one), right? So if we proceed on the notion of the smoke monster being the Cerberus, then yea, I could definitely see it as being just a guard for something much bigger. And yea, going with this underworld thing...Maybe this alternate universe is that world? This is late night half-asleep theorizing here, don't mind me people. haha

I guess so. I haven't been on here in ages and didn't see a Lost thread so, *shrugs* started another. It's eerie but Toronto right now reminds me of the Lost universe, what with people getting mysterious viruses, and pregnant ladies needing a special vaccine for H1N1. And then the whole scandal about what's in the vaccine being poisonous. haha Just random observation. No smoke monster though, thank God.....That only comes out in the summer. Live together, die alone.

Well, I write all sorts of stuff, haven't really found my niche yet, y'know? Butttt I did write a murder mystery taking place in Toronto last year.......got a B on it from my prof! (That's the new A in that writing class) haha I have a whole bunch of ideas fo movies and whatnot.....just takes a lot of focus and patient....and it's hard to maintain that when you're just out of university, trying to set your life up. haha Yea, the thing with Lost is.......sometimes it's TOO well-written. Like, they'll set up so much suspense that at some points I'll just get angry from the build-up. haha Like I dunno, I think it's the beginning of Season 2? When in three different episodes we get caught up to speed on that one ending moment when Jack is in the hatch and turns to see Locke being held at gunpoint by Desmond? It was sorta partience-testing for me. haha But yea, just the writing.......so much I've never seen before in a TV show. Like, Season 4 and the flash-forwards......that was pretty damn inventive. And yea, looks like I'm gonna get on the bad lists for a majority of you other fans but......I'm going to have to go along with the "Desmond as awesome" notion, as opposed to Locke. I dunno, something about the character just angers me. haha He really holds out a lot of information on the rest of the cast, and as mentioned, it has gotten people into oodles of trouble as a result. And I dunno, dude seems to be a real know-it-all about everything in life too. haha Reminds me of how Vincent D'Onofrio always knew everything on Law and Order: Criminal Intent. haha

Pearl Jam
Pearl Jam have written many songs in the same vein as The Fixer, in the sense that they are fun, hooky rock numbers, it's just that most of these songs are B-sides. Check out Disc 1 of Lost Dogs for reference, and songs such as All Night, Down, Black Red and Yellow, Leavin' Here, Gremmie Out Of Control, and Undone. And even on later releases too, like on Pearl Jam, the song Big Wave, Get Right on Riot Act, or Mankind on No Code.

thanks for the advice, everyone! :) Yea, for me, the episode that I really loved was in season three........it's early I think.....the one where Desmond relives his past with his girlfriend, and we go through how he had to break it off with her. As a screenwriter.......whenever I watch that show.....it's just hard for me because it totally puts you in your place. haha Like, I'll just pick apart the show, and observe how all the set-ups and payoffs are done and how they are so original, and just think "Goddamnit....I suck" haha In other words.......very well written show! I'm up to the episode in season four when.....I think it's Michael? Walt's dad, at any rate, turns out to be on the ship........Eh, I'm not too sure about this development. And yea, Desmond and Ben, by far the favorite characters. As well as the smoke monster. haha

concerts and experiences
Hey there! Has anyone here ever gone to a concert and came out as a different person? A Life-changing experinece sort of thing? I know, it may seem like a strange question.......but I'd love to hear all your stories about priceless concert moments, the ones you can just close your eyes and relive. For me...it was when I went to my first concert ever, which was U2. And like, just when the lights went down and they opened with City of Blinding Lights, and how everyone just had so much energy and sang along... And I guess it's really something special, when it's a band that means a lot to you too. Like when I saw The Verve...and especially when i saw My Bloody Valentine. I went all the way to Richmond (just had to do a crazy trip last summer) and went down there just to see the band, and also explore too. Best trip ever. And if anyone here ever has the chance to check out My Bloody Valentine.....I highly reconmmend not passing them up. And yea, they are extremely loud (some people may need the earplugs they hand out) but the volume is nothing compared to the power and force of their music..especially durying the 20 or so minutes of white noise they throw at you during "You Made Me Realize". It's like that scene in 2001 when Dave is flying through space, and you see all the trippy colors zooming past him. haha

Pearl Jam
Trusay man. Yea, that was my third time seein 'em. First time, back in '05, he opened by himself, played Porch on the acoustic guitar, and then introduced Sleater-Kinney...........who were really damn good, and are underappreciated.
-
Pearl Jam
Nah, I forget who the band was......but if for sure wasn't Ben Harper who was supposed to be opening. It was great tho, cuz Eddie came out and played Sugar Moutain and The Needle And The Damage Done by Neil Young, and then he introduced Mike McCready, who played two original songs, and then he introduced Stone Gossard, who played another song, and then Jeff Ament and Eddie played Bee Girl, and then Eddie joined the instrumental members of the oringal opening act for a song (the lead singer was stopped at the border) Mad respects for Eddie and Co.

Started watching the show recently.......yea yea I missed the boat on this Lost craze! Anyway, lots of food for theories and thoughts about this show. For example: what are everyone's thoughts on the smoke monster? And could someone kindly tell me what it is? haha I haven't goten up to season five yet, so I'm out of the loop on this one.

The Toronto show I went to in August was really good. They didn't have an opening act because the singer got stopped at the border, so they opened for themseleves. haha
