  1. Hello everyone! Any idea what the special studio experience was about recently when Coldplay invited a few of their top listeners in Spotify to come to the studio on the 14th of March? Read a post on reddit that a few new songs were played: https://www.reddit.com/r/Coldplay/comments/1ru2jya/what_was_that_for/
  2. On a side note, it's quite interesting to see how much the band is trying to sell this album, and get the stats on international charts, etc. The appearance on QVC was really really surprising for me to see how far the four of them were willing to go to sell the album. In addition to the fact that Chris said that All My Love is the last single, this PR strategy seems to really hint that they want to make all the money they can with this album in order to finance their green technologies in the rest of the MOTS tour and also to finance the musical album/film. It might also be some kind of a contract requirement or pressure from Parlophone to achieve a target of sales/revenue (although I also think Coldplay are so massive now that Parlophone would also find it difficult to lay down conditions for the band to fulfill). What do you guys think? EDIT: Just another thought. I remember the ticket prices for the concerts in Mumbai, India were MUCH lower than the average ticket prices in Europe, etc., and I think the band did this to make it more affordable to the average Indian Coldplay fan. I'm guessing they also need to offset those costs somewhere. Either way, it's really interesting to look (vaguely, and not precisely ofc) at the business model of Coldplay, and how they might be trying to make a lot of ends meet for different people.
  3. I can't begin to say how much I agree with EVERYTHING on this post; literally each and every point, including my opinion about Biutyful 🙃. Really well summarised as well!
  4. Hahaha true, I get that. Maybe I'll follow suit and take the route of cautious optimism?
  5. I agree. I think it might just become the pop equivalent of Viva. And while I agree that Phil will obviously hype and promote every album (as he rightly should), he wouldn't make a comparison to Viva knowing how much the fandom loves that album, unless he really thinks there's something special there. Only time will tell off, and September really feels like too far away!
  6. Same here! But this is how I remember discussions here on coldplaying when I joined the forum in 2009. Absolutely loved going through this thread, which for once didn't have an oldplay vs. newplay discussion 🤣
  7. Well, it was still a lot of fun doing this with you guys, and I think that's what matters, so thanks for the company!
  8. If they actually end with this song, I'll be stunned. 😂
  9. Well, it IS a new song. Chris wrote it last night. And it's called Orange.
  10. Ah never mind. I think he's gonna sing Orange acoustic.
  11. One more song to go. No new song yet. Looks like they'll end with Biutyful to be honest.
  12. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8775jele54o
  13. I'm wondering at this point if they're avoiding playing Yellow just because there was so much pressure to replace the word with Orange 😅
  14. Hahahaha!! I'm actually listening to BBC radio 1 audio stream which is free across the world. Good quality audio too! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_one
  15. SETLIST: Track 1.: Music of the Spheres Track 2.: Higher Power Track 3.: Paradise Track 4.: Viva la Vida Track 5.: Hymn for the Weekend Track 6.: Clocks Track 7.: Fix You Track 8.: People of the Pride Track 9.: Something Just Like This Track 10.: Magic Track 11.: Yellow Track 12.: A Sky Full of Stars Track 13.: Orange
  16. Looks like they're starting with Higher Power for sure?
  17. Hahahaha, I did! Couldn't recognise both the people at all 😂 I thought of hanging around thinking there might be some music video shoot happening around (they seem to like barcelona a lot for this!), but then I realised that they probably won't be shooting a music video in Barcelona on Saturday evening at 21:30 hrs if they have a gig within 24 hours in Luton. So I went away 😅
  18. It's so strange that we're coming across this a little more often now!(Actually, isn't there a theory about this phenomenon where we actually just notice these things a little more now that we've seen the stimulus?) I was walking down a street in Barcelona yesterday when I noticed the same moons symbols in the same order on the back of a red phone case that a random passerby was holding! Didn't have the courage to stop and ask them about it, or even sneak a photo of the phone case ofc.
  19. Yes, I think that's the timing! Not that I know of unfortunately! I think BBC Radio 1's website might stream the audio live for people to listen in from around the world, but I'm not sure about that either.
  20. Hahahaha! Your predicted setlist is exactly what I meant in my post when I said 'usual suspects' + new song.
  21. Considering it's a one hour long set, I'm guessing it's going to be the usual suspects of the major hits, but with possibly one new song from Moon Music. But if they do play a new song, I don't think it'll actually be whatever their first single is. I'm guessing it'll be similar to how Amazing Day was debuted live before AHFOD released. What do you guys think?
  22. Hello folks! With the Radio 1 Big Weekend gig coming up tomorrow, I thought I'd check if there was a separate topic already open in the forum about this so that we can keep the discussion and hype build-up regarding tomorrow's performance on a separate thread. I noticed that there wasn't, so I'm just opening this up in case anyone is interested! P.S. I've added this to the MOTS Live tour sub forum as of now, but we could move it elsewhere if it indeed marks the start of the Moon Music era.
  23. Yup, I agree. That's kinda what I meant by the fact that they don't need to prove it anymore. And like I said in the beginning, I completely agree with the concept that they should make the kind of music that they want to, but I couldn't help but wonder how much that drive to prove something was responsible for making the kind of songs we see in Viva. And of course, it is my subjective opinion, and I'm definitely not the harbinger of truth! 😛
