  1. Our libel laws need changing, possibly removing completely to prevent us being a laughing stock and the country where the filthy rich come to silence truth and the phoney's make the scientists kneel. And a whole load of laws to provide equal rights to homosexuals and women.
  2. Got into him a bit last year. I have to be in the mood for him, naturally, as it's a departure from a lot of the things I listen to (though he has influenced some of that as we all know).
  3. I'll go with neither. You a David Icke fan by any chance?
  4. Haha. Oh well. I'm off to sleep. Hope you're well!
  5. Because it has your name in it. Think of something quick!
  6. I still always think of Gold Chains by Beck when I think of you. And you never thought of a good word to follow glacial.
  7. You're more likely to get words evolving, but a whole system involving the set up of a sentence would take ages. And you would need a proper push for it and it's not something that is desperately needed so won't happen.
  8. Arrogant in terms of trying to force a guy out of the thread. And the thing you quoted of yourself was truly the most insightful thing you have ever said on this board. And it was a waste of time everybody reading it as they all knew.
  9. Your team is possibly the most mentioned in the country in which they play. If any club needs to be mentioned it's one who isn't mentioned all the time. Everybody is aware of what is happening at Manchester City. They hear it so much it's tiresome. It's even more tiresome when what is being said is not put forward with any true insight and is simply arrogance. You take the victory of a football team as your own and see anybody on here who dissents as your enemy. Childish in the extreme.
  10. Great, so you've been to some football matches. The true test is to understand what you are seeing and then share your insights with others if you are going to make posts about it. Not being an absolute tosser who threatens people you don't even know. You treat the trophies in your sig as though they are your own.
  11. Yes, that would work. People couldn't cope with it though, you know what they are like with change.
  12. Should have watched it when I had the chance but didn't.
  13. Do people actually interact with that guy on here? From what I gather he just makes posts about some club he doesn't see in person and people pretty much ignore it and move on.
  14. Yup. Providing we don't devolve into a state where the monarchy actually matters this is just going to be a poster kid for tourism. And people are already falling for it already. The whole notion of monarchy is an embarrassment to progressive society.
  15. I've never heard of the two space thing.
  16. I saw the word god used and it was at the start of a sentence, but I didn't know how the word was being used, whether as a proper noun (which would be capitalised) or simply a noun (which wouldn't be), but as it was at the start of a sentence I didn't know which it would be as it was capitalised anyway (though, as has been mentioned in the thread, things are far more complex than that specific example as there are all sorts of nouns, though languages are not my strong point). Then, after wondering this, I became paranoid that I was being idiotic and was missing a glaring reason why we do have them at the start of a sentence.

I use it to follow journalists I like. They often discuss their articles in greater detail there and link to articles that interest them which I'd never have stumbled upon on my own. And it's easier to post meaningless stuff on there than on Facebook where it's annoying. Same way it's easier to post on a message board with things like this post which is largely inconsequential. This post wouldn't go on my Facebook. I don't even let people post on my wall. They can only post on my updates/pics etc. I prefer things done PM on Facebook. Here and Twitter I don't post in my real name. I mean you could work it out, I'm not totally hidden or anything, but it would take a little effort.
  18. Yeah, cheers for that. I prefer language to be evolving. It has to be. Have you read Pinkers' 'The Language Instinct'? I recommend it. I wonder if we'll ever lose the '.' after etc., as whilst it's there to show that it is a shortened word, surely etc. itself has become part of our language enough to be as it is. Therefore both versions would be acceptable.
  19. Well the thread could have value given yesterdays events, as it wouldn't be about the royal baby. However if we wanted it to be interesting whilst including the baby we could discuss the absurdity of witnessing who a future head of state will be. It would be very interesting (but obviously a shame for the family, or not depending on how they took it, I guess) if the baby was born with a disability which was not debilitating enough to prevent them from shaking peoples hands and waving. There are a few avenues it could go down rather than actually talking about the boring stuff that happens in every pregnancy. It's had an interesting start though. Acute morning sickness was not something I was particularly aware of, so learned something and now the death.
