at the pub, in deep philosophical discussion i learned that one of the main things i contribute and will be remembered for amongst my friends is getting them into at least one musical artist whom they love. my introduction to these people has already lead to three tattoos by three separate people (not that i personally like tattoos) and people knowing of me who i have never met, simply referring to me as the music guy. i also learned that having affected these people in that way, should i died i would be happy enough with the (albeit modest) ripples i have created amongst the people i know.

how did you learn that? you should hang out with better guys

take that? take this the current doctor who is a blackburn fan so ha! blackburn references are pretty much dead to the world (we get a mention in 'a day in the life' by the beatles), blackburn fans are few and far between (for good reason :rolleyes:) and yet i've stil managed two references in a day TAKE THAT!

the start of radioheads wolf at the door (jonny greenwood mainly wrote) is clearly influenced by she's so heavy by the beatles. sticking with the beatles the chemical brothers (with noel gallagher) ripped off tomorrow never knows with setting sun. the killers' mr brightside is a rip off of bowie's queen bitch. (notice i prefer rip off to influenced by :D) i'll see if i can think of some more i do think of some, but then they turn out to be samples, like beck's jack-ass samples them's 'it's all over now baby blue'.

i was similar but i think i worked it out. mines done. just need to get hold of the tracks. does anybody have a link to a time addition calculator so i can see how long it is? i can't be bothered working it out by hand.

it works the opposite way round with me. my mum sometimes asks me if i'm gay. i've brought home quite a few girlfriends but still as soon as i go 6 months without a girl she'll mention something about being gay and say 'it's ok if you are you know'. sometimes i wonder if she would rather me be gay or a slut instead of enjoying my solitude.

just don't make a big deal about it. you don't even have to say he's your boyfriend if you're that worried about telling her (worried is probably the wrong word but you know what i mean), just let her know that you are close with this guy by mentioning him a lot. usually after a while if they've heard the name pop up a few times in conversations they start asking their own questions anyway, and if she asks you if he is your boyfriend you just say sort of and blush.

why? incidentally the girlfriends i've only had successful relationships with radiohead fans (though that is a coincidence). successful relationship as in got on great and were really happy together, although obviously they have all ended so not mega successful.
