  1. We did the cell phone wave at the Joburg one was well, I was in GC so had a great view of everyone in the stands doing it, and it looked absolutely amazing :)
  2. OK, I wrote about my own experience last night, it's a bit long, so the actual convert review starts about halfway down, if anyone wants to read it: http://thefangirldiaries.blogspot.com/2011/10/coldplay-concert-in-johannesburg-south.html
  3. It's almost right, except they played The Scientist straight after In My Place
  4. OK, I've just flown home from the Joburg concert, and I am still speechless. I queued from 1pm, and got to the barrier near the end of the ramp. I was completely blown away. I'm not sure what I was expecting from this concert, but the band surpassed every expectation I could have ever had. It was absolutely phenomenal and without a doubt the best live concert I have ever seen. I plan to write a blog post about it later, and I'll post the link here, along with photo's. The elephant heads were absolutely hilarious, and i have a video of part of it, which I will try to upload as well. I heard complaints about the sound, but from where I was, it was perfect. I don't have the order of the setlist right, but the songs were: MX/Hurts Like Heaven Yellow In My Place The Scientist Lost! Violet Hill Viva La Vida Politik The Hardest Part (acoustic) Til Kingdom Come (acoustic) Major Minus Charlie Brown Paradise (and video shoot) Shiver God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Life Is For Living Encore: Clocks Rehab/Fix You Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall Also, there were two pianos, the painted one was on the main part of the stage, and another plain one was at the end of the ramp, and was used for The Hardest Part and Til Kingdom Come, when Will played it for a bit.
  5. Yes, I was also wondering what time everyone is going to queue, I have park n Ride tickets, but the buses only start leaving in the afternoon, so I feel like I might get dropped off at the stadium in the morning.
  6. I am so excited I could die, and I still have to wait till Saturday to see them! Keep having to remind myself that I'm not seeing them tonight. Edi: another photo of some fans outside, via @liezelv (she's a tv presenter) http://lockerz.com/s/144604247
  7. These are amazing!! I have painted a t-shirt for Saturday's show, but it's nowhere near as cool as these overalls! Also, view from the stage, again, via Paul of The Parlotones: http://yfrog.com/obqrej
  8. From The Parlotones guitarist, Paul Hodgson: http://yfrog.com/z/h32njpfxj "And it was all yellow..." Crew going into the stadium. #Coldplay
  9. The Parlotones are the opening act :) from what I've seen on their twitter and facebook, they are very excited for tonight's show! They've always said that Coldplay are the only band that they'd ever want to open for.
  10. Via Big Concerts The setting is so beautiful with the mountain in the background! Soundcheck is taking place at the moment
  11. They *don't* usually allow it, I didn't go to U2, but I know their fans weren't allowed to queue before 7am on the day. I'm flying in to Joburg on Friday afternoon, and was planning to go sometime on Saturday morning to start queuing...
  12. Pleasure :) I'll keep posting any updates I come across. I am going to the show in Johannesburg on Saturday, so will also post my reviews etc afterwards. I'm hearing word that people are already queuing in Cape Town, I'm not certain whether or not they're being serious though. Gates only open in about 26 hours time.
  13. The guy in the first photo is one of the producers from the local radio station that is sponsoring the concert, lucky guy! Oh, and us South Africans will make sure we treat Chris and the boys fantastically and make sure they receive a great reception from the fans! 47000 people will be at Wednesday's show in Cape Town!
  14. When you find out that Coldplay have arrived in your country and you are unable to do anything all afternoon, but sit refreshing your twitter/coldplaying/facebook feeds waiting for more news
  15. Hello! We will all be sure to post reviews and tell you all about the show :)
  16. I'd go hang around the table mountain cable car tomorrow, if I were you, that's something all the foreign tourists do when in Cape town.
  17. Another photo of Chris with the producer for Kfm, Stephen Werner. I'm no expert on the roadies, but is that perhaps Miller and Dan Green in the background? http://twitpic.com/6uisml
  18. #Coldplay is now a trending topic on Twitter in SA. [/img]
  19. ^ my bet for hotels would be one of those fancy ones near the V & A, I think The Killers stayed at the One & Only when they were here so maybe that one? I'd love to know when they're flying to Joburg, as I'm flying in on Friday and also hoping to bump into them!
  20. Hi, I'm Farah, I've never introduced myself, and I'm seeing Coldplay next week, thought you all should know. :)
  21. Frequently asked questions for the Coldplay show have been posted by the promoters, to help concert go-ers out:
  22. I think it's great exposure for the band. Love or hate hate show, but half the songs used on Glee have gone straight to the top of the charts. While the Glee version may not be everyone's taste, I feel that it's quite a compliment that Glee wants to use Coldplay's song. It's a great way to expose younger audiences to good music, 99% of teens would never have known "Don't Stop Believing" or "Somebody To Love" if it hadn't been for Glee.
