Erm, it's a very short vignette type thing that I just got the idea for about the repercussions of humanity being visited by a shockingly advanced alien race for a few years, then abandoned by them, left with some of their toys, and the heartbreaking philisophical angst of genuinely not being able to comprehend them/their technology/their knowledge, as a race, or at least as the intellectual elite, or whatever. (I mean, you know the argument philosophers make about whether the human mind really has limits or not? It's sort of like about that, only with the answer being "YES IT DOES HAS LIMITS AND IT'S OFFICIAL, HUMANKIND IS LEGITIMATELY RETARDED.") It's a little sketchy at this point but I'm not sure how much I want to flesh it out cuz I think sketchy may be good for it in this case. It's kind of sci-fi, I guess, but for scientists, and philosophers, and various members of the intelligentsia in general, etc, cuz they worry about stuff like this in the back of their mind, heh heh. I hope it doesn't just turn out to be shit and pretentious, though. :nice: A lot of things I write end up sounding really pretentious without my trying to... >.> (I don't write often, just when a provocative idea strikes me.)
