Acoustic Amplication
Hi, I have an acoustic elec, I bought a 16 watt Kustom amp. They are about 150 sheets but well worth it. It has 2 inputs so you can plug your guitar in and also a mike, keyboard or cd etc. The settings it has really do allow you to make the most of the acoustic/elec sound. I love it and it also works very well with an elec guitar, esp if you're into the clean reverb coldpaly sound.

Shiver ...... Delay .......
Hi people! Quick question about Shiver/Don't Panic ... Does Johnny use delay at all in these songs? I know he has a Boss DD-3 hooked up in his pedalboard. I have seen some people playing the phaser lead parts in Don't Panic but never found out how this worked for them. I know the temp beats per minute for the song is about 120bpm (i.e 2 beats per second) but if anyone is entering in a specific delay in milliseconds that works for them I'd like to know how this works for you. I use delay on the riff in Yellow and it sounds tasty! I enter 85 bpm into the metronome, tap the delay tempo to it and away I go, it's worth a try, it really helps with the intro and with the chorus lead bits. Thanks!

Advice on my electric?
I have seen some of the cheapest Les Paul copies on youtube (one of which does a good cover of Shiver) and to be honest, I don't think the pick-ups are all that bad at all in the copies, even in the numerous Strat copies, I know a guy that gigs with an Encore copy of a strat and he gets a great sound out of it. What I look for, and I'm big into getting a good sound, is an amp with wide speaker, 12" if possible, and I have also used a Kustom acoustic amp with a celestion 8" speaker with reverb for practising - great clear sparkly tone, great for U2 and Coldplay. I feel that if a guitar can sound good clean, that it will sound good over-driven. Small amps and practice amp that you get in guitar starter packages usually have poor overdrive sound so in that case it wouldn't be the guitar's fault.

Pic's of Guy's effects!
BF-2 = Boss Flanger 2 (2nd series). There's now a BF-3, I have one, it's not unlike the MXR Phase 90 he uses, for example, I use it to get that phased sound in 'Don't Panic'. Could anyone tell me what songs does johnny use the BF-2 Boss Flanger in? Thanks.

[SOLVED] New guitar
I have a Tele, it had Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups in it when I got it first, I didn't like these, they had too much Mid and too much of a low muddy sound so I changed them for the original American stock pickups that were luckily supplied too. Only things is, as much as I love my tele, it has a maple neck and is very bright sounding which is great for playing reggae but for the start of 'Yellow', for example, you need a fairly chunky and full sounding pickup, I find even the tele's neck pickup is too 'thinny' and twangy sounding. Tele's are making a come back, just look at music video's of songs and you'll see. They are in Fashion!!

Hi and a quick q about effects!
Dia Dhaoibh a Chairde! Hi! DMcU here, Bit of a coldplay fan you could say. I'm also a U2 fan and I have a few Electric Guitars so this kind of style of playing is something I like. I love delay, reverb, fenders, valve amps, compressors, TELE'S and the music that Johnny gets from his rig. I recently bought a Flanger (Boss Bf-3) so if any of you could help me with settings that I could use for 'Don't Panic', I know he used an MXR Phase 90 but I might get by with this! Also any delay settings would be great, like delay time in milliseconds (I have a Boss DD7). ROck on amigo's!

yellow effect?
To make it aggressive I use a compressor (Boss CS-3) and 'squish' the signal. This means I can actually turn the Gain down on the Drive Channel to about 1 or below even. This creates a lot of humming noise though, it really 'drives' the amp. I would have the Effect Level anything from 3/4 to Full, but it tidies up the sound. Better to have a slightly cleaner sound than an over-overdriven sound. Any tips on using a Flanger for the Lead Parts in 'Don't Panic'. I know Johnny used a MXR Phaser 90. I have a Boss BF-3 and I can kinda get something simillar of a sound. Any tips for settings would be great - i.e. 'Rate' 'Depth' etc. Thanks

yellow effect?
Hi! Would you know roughly what milliseconds of delay is needed for Yellow? I have a Boss DD7 and I can use the tap tempo but if I had the delay time in millseconds (roughly) I could set that too, and then we would be playing! Thanks
