  1. GOOD GOD I LOVE SUFJAN. I MET HIM ONCE. IT WAS AWESOME sorry for the caps y'all. I'm weird about him. And welcome! Great first post.
  2. Coldplay has HUGE differences between all their albums. Parachutes- Acoustic, whimsical Rush of Blood- Bold, more diverse, deeper lyrics, expanded instrumentation. X&Y- Electronic, synths, song structure Viva- Instrumental diversification, darkened sound, expanded ambiance, more complex structure MX- Too early to tell, overall. And Arctic Monkeys' lyrics are no deeper than Fix You's. Fix You has poo-poo lyrics on paper, but the song is incredibly moving. Yeah, Coldplay's lyrics aren't the best (they've gone downhill since Rush of Blood) but it's the whole song. The layering. The diversity. The power. And you can tell Chris is the hardest-working, most neurotic man in music today. And they manipulate their winning formula. You think they have to make changes to stay fresh? No. If they kept releasing a Rush of Blood, it would sell like hotcakes every single time. But they do it to be daring and expand their sound, and I really admire that. If Coldplay's sound hasn't changed, why do they keep explaining why their sound has changed so much? :laugh3: I think their drastic shift in sound is the number one point of controversy on this forum.
  3. LOLno. That album is boring. Coldplay innovates. Suck it and See is Arctic Monkeys operating on the same, flawed system. The same happened to the Red Hot Chili Peppers this year. The new album is good, but it's the same damn thing they've been doing every year. Same with U2. But The Arctic Monkeys were never an exceptional band.
  4. Death Cab's Plans = :dazzled: :dazzled: :dazzled:
  5. Coldplay is the best band ever. But you should listen to other stuff, too. Chris would want you to. Do it for Chris, Jonny and Will. Guy doesn't give a shit though.
  6. 1. Arctic Monkeys are boring now. 2. Death Cab is awesome, but what's there to say? 3. Keane sucks now. LP3 and on. They should be thrown in jail for Perfect Symmetry and Night Train EP 4. Snow Patrol is what would happen if Coldplay, The Verve and Arcade Fire had a dirty, dirty three-way session and the progeny was raised in Rivers Cuomo's butthole.
  7. Okay so we can all agree that pop music is ridiculously violent/overtly sexual. But luckily it doesn't matter because people don't listen to lyrics, anyway! YAYYYY 21ST CENTURY!
  8. The Reminder is good. This one is great, though! I still hate 1234. :uhoh:
  9. Love the Way You Lie was pretty damn scary. What was that bit about tying Rihanna to the bed and setting her on fire??? Geez. DONT DO THAT EMINEM. WE NEED HER FOR PRINCESS OF CHINA.
  10. I don't think the band is supporting it happening in any way, I just think that it's dumb that people are pumping this through their headphones while not knowing what he's saying, what it's about or what it means. It's ignorant. All the other kids with their pumped up kicks you'd better run better run outrun my gun All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you'd better run better run faster than my bullet. DAMN that's morbid. But it's okay B-cuzz it's super catchy!!!!!!
  11. It's still the single. It was submitted to radio on behalf of the record company. I think they knew the lyrics and its implications.
  12. I'm listening now :) It's much better than her last one it seems. I hated that 1234 crap.
  13. Go here: http://www.merchdirect.com/coldplay Hit my account on the right. Log in. Order Status. "Details" on the respective order Then cancel. :)
  14. So many people ignore lyrics. Does that mean you should pile up violent crap in a really popular song? Maybe you should sing things like "I turn the music up/I got my recordz on" instead.
  15. It just kind of makes me cringe. Plus, his voice. I don't know why people complain about Chris' processed voice in Major Minus when the vocals in Pumped Up Kicks is a thing that happened. By the way, compliments to you for that calendar. It's great!
  16. I think Lady Gaga is really interesting. She's mainstream, but brings art back into the music, and gets people thinking about what it all means. Which I appreciate. Plus, she's actually talented. Which is weird for pop radio today :laugh3: And yeah, I love Elton John. He's awesome. Tiny Dancer is one of the best songs ever.
  17. Oooooo Feist has a new album? Damn I need to focus. *listens*
  18. I'm pissed that Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" is super popular. It proves that people are slaves to a catchy beat. Lyrics are important, and these lyrics glorify school violence. It is homecoming week at my university and they have been playing music outside for the blood drive. They played "Pumped Up Kicks" really really loudly the other day. Which I thought was ironic because it's about KILLING PEOPLE. IN A SCHOOL. WITH A GUN. Thanks for promoting that, Mizzou. /soapbox
  19. I like Mat Kearney but I thought the newest album was a train wreck :\ But that's my opinion.
  20. Gross, REALLY gross, and :dazzled: (respectively)
