  1. Want to Swap Emirates Tickets Hiya - I've got two general admission tickets for Monday 4th Emirates show, would like to swap for two general admission tickets for the Saturday 2nd Emirates show. Anybody wanting to swap? Many thanks, Ad
  2. Hi Sophia - Have you still got the Saturday tickets or have you sold them by now? Cheers, Ad
  3. Have it - and it's awesome... Was straight into HMV this morning and got the first copy off the shelf. And I'm not disappointed. From start to finish, the album is a beautifully conceived work of art, using broad brushstrokes as well as fine detail to create an unforgettable musical landscape. I personally don't feel it is over-produced - I think the invention and willingness to push the envelope at every opportunity increases the intensity of the colours that the band have used throughout. Put it on, turn it up loud and escape to the world of Mylo Xyloto. You won't be disappointed.
  4. The actual CD box will have the first image, and the second is a cardboard sleeve that it goes inside. The vinyl is similar to second but says full title as opposed to 'MX'
  5. Over-priced? Putting aside any fears over the quality of the album (which I don't personally hold, think the whole thing together will be awesome), does anybody else feel that the pop-up album is very expensive, even for a deluxe version? I know there's some nice things in it, but £50 feels like a bit of a rip-off for what will essentially be an artwork book and some stickers... Just feels like a bit of a sting for fans, especially in these post-recession times?
  6. Paradise-gate It's been a very interesting 24 hours to be a Coldplayer. I read all the opinions on the evolution of Coldplay's sound, and there were some wise words written. But there were also some very alarmist and OTT ones. After this Paradise-gate has calmed down, I'm sure we'll all love MX. Chris Martin has not 'sold out' or forgotten how to write a great song. If you're panicking, go and listen to Christmas Lights, Hurts Like Heaven and Us Against the World. Paradise is ONE SONG. Relax, everything's not lost.
  7. I wasn't 'dissing' Owl City, or Bruno Mars. They're good at what they do, but Coldplay have produced works of art that make you feel alive in ways no other band can. IMHO (and that's all it is), OC and BM make music that sounds nice on the radio, but that doesn't set my world alight. It was just a comparison, that the chorus of Paradise reminded me of something I'd not really notice on the radio. The good news is that I've now listened to it on big speakers and the sound is immense, especially the bass. Still don't love the chorus, but it is growing on me.
  8. Grower? As a massive fan of ETIAW (can't understand why so many don't like it, it's such a majestic, uplifting song), I have to admit to being a little disappointed with Paradise. I, like so many others on here, really struggle to even type words like that, but as well as being devoted fans I think we do have to be honest. I really like the music and I think the strings and melody of the verse are really cool, but for me I expected more lyrically. We were told this was a 'narrative' song, so I really thought there would be more of a story here, which in turn would form a part of the bigger story of Mylo Xyloto. But it actually feels very thin in terms of what it actually tells us, by itself or as part of a larger work, and does unfortunately pass you by like radio-fillers Bruno Mars and Owl City. I don't think for one minute that we should worry about MX, as Chris Martin has more talent in his little finger than most musicians have in their entire bodies, and I don't think we should ever criticise such great artists for creating and producing the art they want to. MX songs like HLH, CB, UATW, ETIAW and MM are all great, and UIF sounds awesome, so we're safe. I guess we just expect a little bit more from a song that must have been in gestation with our favourite band for ages - but maybe Paradise will be a grower. It left me quite cold on first listen, but in the last hour I have warmed to it more. Let's hope it gets hotter and hotter.
  9. Great News I for one am really glad that ETIAW is on LP5. Why is everybody else so against it? It's by far the most uplifting, euphoric and vital songs they've ever written. I find it bizarre that fans can dislike a song which is so in line with a bands creative curve and is so musically adventurous. Am so glad LP5 is close, and by what we've heard so far, it'll be in incredible. Let's face it, we were worried about x&y, we were worried about VLV, and both turned out to be incredible. Let's just trust the boys we love so much to deliver something we'll love for years.
  10. Far out and fantastic Wow, what an amazing song! Part David Bowie/part Pink Floyd/all awesomeness! This drip-feed of songs is agonising but exciting!
  11. Fantastic I have to say the studio version grabs me much more than the live one. Love the effect on Chris' voice, which I think fits the theme of media representation/papparazzi/disguising of the truth that the song talks about. Dark, thrilling and an awesome guitar solo. Top notch.
  12. Epic and Euphoric An absolutely amazing song - full of euphoria and joy. I love the boldness and the colours, the experimentation and the 'heart on sleeves' pumping thrill of it. Some people only want Coldplay to do sad introspection, but I love that sometimes they just say, 'Sod it, this makes us happy'. Also, I'd love anyone on here who's being negative to write a song that is a quarter as good as ETIAW. Turn the volume up, open the windows and throw your arms in the air for this one.
