I've seen him live in Montreal and he's definitely capable of speaking french super well so I wouldn't put it past him to sing in french that well

As a bassist, I can tell you, if these songs are any indication, this is DEFINITELY Guy's album. These two songs are pure Guy

either song is anything I would've expected from Coldplay and in a GOOD way. Will need the rest of the album to judge but if it's in this experimental vein, we're in for a VLV 2, not because it sounds like VLV but because we're in for an instant classic album. It's deffinitely the closest thing to Viva they've done since Viva

and yes.. Arabesque has LOTS of brass

This album is going to be weird Arabesque has a 2 minute saxohpone solo, there is a full verse sung in french, as I'm from Montreal I recognized the language right away. Starts with street noises out of a victorian era movie, old cars, people shuffling, very gritty and has a heavy gravity to it, it's like a heavy song but still a happy song, Johnny is ripping through the song

Orphans is more "new" Coldplay if you wanna call it that but nothing to do with AHFOD... Orphans is what AHFOD could've been, with world vibes, and again GUY STEALS THE SHOW. My take away for both songs: Arabesque is weird but good and Guy steals both

Also as a professional bassist, arabesque is a dream come true to me, Guy needed this spotlight

So Arabesque is so strange, there's a whole verse in french, a minute-ish long saxophone solo? Lots of brass? I can already tell this is gonna be my favourite album by far, at least Arabesque has all the elements of my favourite types of music

What do you mean by the second album of VLV? Prospekt’s March? If anything they were whinier on parachutes and that’s one of their best albums, not sure if you’re trolling or can’t express your criticisms in a coherent manner, because if you’re actually serious I’d love to debate normally but you have a trolley air to you

Yeah we were proceeding as we usually do but the band seems to keep things more secret this time around, hence the no leak policy, it’s not a bad thing though, We only have 4 weeks to wait as of today anyways plus two songs today and who knows What surprises they’ll give us between now and November 22

The fact that Stephen said “THREAD CLOSED: Due to instruction from the band, we will have a zero-tolerance to leaks this era. Sorry folks!” this only proves to me the band wants to keep things close to the vest, meaning they probably really will be full of surprises!

Of course, I think the same, I actually think we are getting two songs and not just one tomorrow, but I think we are getting an “official” official announcement online as well, like the album cover, the tracklist, if there’s any features on the album, like an actual announcement from the band, not just posters or letters or newspaper ads
