1. Coldplay is set to enter the building in less than 10 minutes.
2. Goodmorning all! Getting ready to head into work today at the Superbowl. Repin the Coldplay underneath.
3. Don't see any mention of Beyonce and Bruno here even though their sharing the same areas! Booya. Do people still say that? I don't know. Lol
4. Don't spoil it outright! A lot of folks want the surprise!
5. It's during the day with game starting at 3:30pm US Pacific Coast time due to being in California. That means in New York it will be 6:30pm so all the US east coasters don't have to stay up until 2 in the morning. Most Nationally televised events in the US are based off East Coast Time. Performers generally always sing live with the music usually being played as a backing track. This is due to time constraints with set up and performance and not being able to tune the sound, balance frequencies, eliminate feedback, etc.
6. With Beyonce potentially debuting a new song and Bruno Mars doing his thing, maybe Coldplay wants to keep the tempo and music varied by not doing HFTW.
7. Haha The Killers will not be part of the halftime show. The parts for the other performers won't be very large since they are guests.
8. WHAT!!! AGH. I landed there like 10 minutes before they did. Funny thing is I was looking up and down the tarmac hoping I might catch a glimpse but I didn't actually think they'd be landing at the same time.
9. WOW WOW WOW. I had started learning this but passed it up to learn the live version of Warning Sign, and Sky Full of Stars. Definitely gonna give it another go! Really appreciate your sharing!

Wow how did I miss this party? I'd say Blue Danube and BTTF. I wish I could have gone to one of the Viva shows. But BTTF is also one of my favorite movies. I imagine this tour will be similar to Viva with a buildup like Blue Danube and then lights off straight into the instrumental bit of A Head Full of Dreams for walk on. I have the Live 2012 album in my car and I edited the intro to include the BTTF theme with the crowd noise and Mylo Xyloto. Its just not quite the same without it. Such a fantastic, intense, strong start. Always puts me in a good mood.
11. It truly is awesome. Both songs are in the same key and they flow into each other so well. Remember in the MX tour they would go straight from Clocks to Fix You with the organ already rolling at the end of clocks. Almost makes you wonder if they were written around the same time even though they're on different albums.
12. Think I found the directions you're talking about: http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2016/01/12/coldplay-fans-sought-for-super-bowl-50-halftime-show/ Unfortunately it looks like they're already full for fans: https://callsheet.me/projects/6/roles/44 ... Boo Hiss And I'd bet set up crew is already selected since they would have had their orientation yesterday.
13. + Charlie Brown - 11 Everything's Not Lost - 11 Lips Like Sugar (Cover) - 11 - Ode to Deodorant - 9 A Spell A Rebel Yell - 4 Kaleidoscope - 7 This feels like picking between children. Its so hard!
14. I think sometimes they use some of the setup crew since they're already out on the field. This article though provides an interesting story: http://espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3883893 ... So keep an eye out on local craigslist ads and similar spots. I'm not saying give it a second thought; if you don't actually care about the game, then go for it. Just be prepared. I can say that at Levi's stadium, all of the sound for the bowl comes out of one of the giant video walls on the upper deck so you'll probably be okay for sound. If you want to spend three weeks there and help with the setup apply here: http://www.superbowlproductions.com/schedulehalf50.php I would be all over this but I'd pretty much have to quit my job. haha.
15. coldplaykb ... where do you get this stuff?!?!?! ahh this is amazing. I'm hearing so many new things that completely refresh the tracks for me. There's a bit on ETIAW that I never ever ever would have guessed was played by the bass. And the birds on the VLV Drum track. Too bad LIT got noticed for copyright. Fuzzyman20, if you haven't already, listen to the Clocks Piano track. During the verse is a significant portion of the pad you're looking. If you're good with something like Melodyne or pitch shifting you might be able to fill in the rest of the gaps. When I play it, I split my piano out to 2 parallel tracks. One is mostly clean, the other is loaded down with a ton of reverb. Gives it a great airy feeling.
16. Thanks Vyonizr! I sent you a PM with a link. Kinda what I was goin for! But thank you so much. I'm about to start on A Sky Full of Stars. Haven't really done EDM before so it'll be interesting to see where it goes!
17. You folks have very perceptible ears! I listened to 3 live variations and the original X&Y song. I opened my music software and tapped the beat for each. I found that the first half of the song consistently ran about 68/69 Beats per minute. But once the drums kick in and the song takes off, I hit 70 beats per minute every time. Maybe it just didn't sound as fun the one or two beats slower and so they raised it a little for the rest of the song. I know its always going to be the same wherever they play because of the backing tracks. But still rather interesting!
18. I posted these on another thread but I'll add them here as well. My apologies but I don't know the chord names. The closest I got for tuning was DGDGAd, with the capo on the 4th fret as you mentioned. The chords themselves are pretty simple. The fret numbers are based on no capo just an FYI The Verse chords. Really gotta stretch for that last one! I hope you have long fingers! I barely made it. The 4th chord is just a quick change on the half count between the 3rd and 5th chords. If you watch early in the video from BBC you can see Chris do it. d----0-----0------0-----0-----0---- A----0-----0------0-----0-----0---- G----0-----0------0-----0-----0---- D----11----11----11---9-----9---- G----11----11----11---11----9---- D----9-----8------7-----7-----6---- Then for the chorus, he changes the order around a bit but its these basic three. d-----0----0----0 A-----0----0----0 G-----8----7----6 D-----9----9----8 G-----8----7----6 D-----0----0----0
19. Nah I layer. When I get more familiar with a song I might try it, but in studio recording its just easier to focus when you do one bit at a time.
20. Thank you Atlas! I've been playing guitar for probably 12 years or so. Bass came pretty easily with that. I've started dabbling more in piano lately. I've been recording covers for a couple years now but I feel like I'm finally starting to get good enough, (not just with playing, but also recording studio production and mixing and mastering) to start posting some of it for others to enjoy. ps. My cover of Magic will be going up next week!
21. Yes! Thank you! I wouldn't have been able to do it without the video from BBC Radio 1 though. Figuring out the acoustic took the longest. As I said, Chris' tuning is so strange, I never would have been able to guess without seeing his finger position. But its amazing how sonic-ly simple the whole song is.
22. I could give you the tabs I used on the guitar, but as usual Chris' tuning is so unusual I've got no idea what to even begin calling the chord. The key for the song though is F#. I'll take a stab at the chord names though. You may have to play around with the exact notes. He starts off with B5, transitioning down to F#/A#, F#M/A, and lastly D/F#. The chorus chords are F#5, and an A(something). Sorry I couldn't be of more help =/ Hope that works.
