I think it's just coincidence. That movie was in the making way before X&Y was even half way done. And there's no way Coldplay would get inspiration from a movie they haven't even seen yet. Me thinks.

But how, exactly? By giving a 40 second clip of Speed of Sound as a ringtone to a wireless company? Every other wireless comp will have SoS by the time the album releases anyway. I don't see how this is selling themselves. The MTV thing is for a concert. What does that have to do with selling themselves? :huh:

Part of what ad campaign? Coldplay only gave their song available as a ring tone, and every wireless company has Coldplay ringtones. It's really nothing special, other than Cingular getting SoS first. As long as they aren't making any ad campaigns, I'll be fine. I have Cingular though so..you know. I don't mind. Just as long as they don't appear in any stupid commercials, I'm cool.

It's not official yet. I'd be great though! I'm sure they'd change some stuff up so it doesn't sound exactly like did it years ago, if it really becomes a Bside.

Yeah Wayne, how did you ever think, "Ooooh, maybe its written in Baudot Code! EUREKA!!!!" :cool: not really - i'd not heard of baudot code before :lol: to cut a long story short, i started working out ascii codes using 10-bits but quickly changed to five bits (pairs of colours, e.g. black and grey, representing a single bit rather than two). This gave D = 9 , E = 1, F = 13 and so on. having three letters (D, E, F) that were next to each other in the alphabet was a great help because it looked likely (from the above numbers) that there was no obvious logical pattern to the numbers that the letters represented. So, i thought, it must've been some specific 5-bit encoding scheme. The good old internet gave me some stuff to sift through on various 5-bit encoding schemes, eventually turning up Baudot. A quick run through all 10 letters we currently have matched up and therefore baudot was probably the one. The deciphering of the secret gig wrist band to discover LIVE was ultimate proof. I felt well smug :smug: :lol: Props to owenrees though for spotting the dashes matching up to letters ! As regards the & in X&Y, it takes up two columns (the first being the figure shift, the second the character), it's been pointed out that it's not an ampersand. It is actually a hypen, giving X-Y. I suppose that's either as they intended or they're using some slight variation on baudot encoding that gives a different bit pattern for &. Good stuff though innit ? :) Very smart! :D
