College help?

Featured Replies

so basically in america there are 3 kinds of colleges? university, community and private?

im trying to find out what i want to do for college. any college kids have suggestions?

i can go to the local community college for 2 yrs and automatically get into any state university in florida. but im thinking about private colleges but i dont know anything about them...

Ummm... private colleges can be a bit more expensive! not always but most of the time. state universities are cool. But it all depends on what you want to do. The best thing to do is figure out what u wanna major in and then find schools with your major.

going to a community college first doesn't necessarily guarantee you an in at a state uni. Sometimes state uni's don't accept certin community colleges credits and you end up wasting money and time. If you have the money to go to a private uni go for it... but state uni are just the same. I think its all about 'name dropping'

well in florida atleast if you do a certain program in any community college your garunteed a spot in a state university. thats what im told. but i still need to check into it more. i want to go to a state uni but i dont have the grades nor will my SAT's be good enough. so i kinda wanna get in through community college. except i dont want to stay in my city for 2 yrs.... this is harder decision then i thought. my parent will pay for a private college but i dont want them to have to pay that much.

my SATs weren't that great but i got into a great state university..although my grades were pretty good-that probably helped.

check out colleges that have rolling admission-most state universities have that...send your application right away because your chances of getting in are higher.

if you are not to sure what to major in, i wouldn't go to a private college b/c state universities offer more majors and programs.

my advice---and i think would be the best--------

apply to different places----apply to state universitys, privates, and maybe even outer state universities----apply while u are still undecided

once, you get the results back---then you decide from the universities that accepted you---and if u dont like those options---then go through community college

thats what i did---and yeah, right here, i went through this program in community college that guaranteed me entrance to UCLA---so now i'm here

but u do got to investigate what universities to apply to-----since you still dont know what major---try basing it on

--tuition

--location

--how big the university is (ratio of teachers and students)

--reputation

--courses of study
