Beyond Close- Asking for Vodka

Featured Replies

My threads are getting more and more enclosed to just my life, and people used to like how they are open to everyone, but I think you can still relate to this kind of thing but its a bit harder to search for the meaning I'm getting at and how its relevant to you. Apologies also to people who use English as a 2nd language and dont like reading long explanations (Like this paragraph hahaha)

Being close to people is kind of like a weird thing, it basically works in three stages.

There are those that you simply arent close to.

There are those that you are quite close to, to be more considerate of.

There are those that you are so close to that you are almost of one mind, and being considerate or polite isnt a factor anymore because theres already an unspoken truth and bond behind your relationship.

Take me and my brother, when I see him after not being home for 4 months (Like I will tomorow), I dont shake his hand. Yet he'll shake hands with friends he hasnt seen in a while, other relatives, so why dont we shake hands?

Because we are beyond close, we dont need to because such a gesture is implied without even having to do so.

This kind of closeness reminds me recently about an argument I had with a friend, he's from the Caribbean.

So my other friend had this huge bottle of vodka in his room, which he wanted to save. The Caribean guy used to walk in, everyday, and ask for some, really wanting it, although it was in a joking manner, it always made my friend (The vodka owner) really uncomfortable, because you dont want to say no to someone for anything.

So I shouted at the Caribean guy one night about it, and after talking to him for about 2 hours, we came to the conclusion that he feels so close to us that if he wants vodka, he'll ask for it, and we should be close enough to him to say "No! Fuck off" and nothing is thought of it.

Its a strange situation, in which nobody is actually wrong, its just different cultures.

Basically, this is the kind of closeness where you are so brutally honest with your friend that it is good for them.

So, who wants KFC?

Unfortunately I haven't got friends to be that close with, I always think before speaking because my words tend to be a little...harsh to someone who might not know the way I am

Oh, apology accepted
