younglinkie
Hi guys first time that I'm posting here. I have to do an assignement for school but I don't know anything about music. Maybe you guys could help me a little? :) Need help on 'Talk' 1. I could use some more info on the style of this song. I know it's alternative rock but I should know more about it. 2. I should have some info on the tempo of the song. I read on the internet that it is uptempo? and that the tempo is 115 quarter note (? don't know if this is right). 3. My feeling for music tells me that this song ends in a fade out. :wink3: am I right? :P 4. But most important. Does anyone know why Chris Martin wanted to write this song? What was his motivation? jonnybucklandhasnicehats
i dont know about the first two questions but i know that it is definately not a fade out. it finishes properly and ends with a bit of atmospheric noise. my interpretation of why chris wrote it was out of a feeling of frustration and isolation. "oh brother i cant get through" "i feel like theyre talking in a language i don't speak" "feel like a puzzle i can't find the missing piece" etc etc. hope that helps! Alright thanks! :D :D I was doubting about the fade out thing too since it is indeed some sort of atmospheric noise. Others can still help! moss
I was asked in a job interview yesterday, why is communication relevant in the workplace, and I said, it's maybe the most important thing to being human. Chris is a smart cookie, why not write a song about talking. The lyric, 'Tell me how do you feel?' gives the song an emotional depth and therefore an insight into the maturity of the writer. Emotional connection is of course the most valued of all inter-animal traits. Also, the lyric in square one, 'you just want somebody listening to what you say it doesn't matter who you are ' is perfectly linked. It has a few meanings. One is the illustration of the human ego, the desire for attention, friendship and love. Another, perhaps to teach and lead. Again take into account the originality of the lyric. Its not often in pop/rock that such a philosophical and poetic intellectualistic stance is taken. I remember reading reviews critical of the album's lyrics, and completely disagreeing. As if the reviewer was listening to a *cough* U2 album or something. Nah U2 are ok really :p
