and there's a difference between appreciating the British culture and trying to be something that I am most definitely not. I am damn proud of being a Puerto Rican/Ecuadorian American... I just appreciate the British culture.. very much like Johnny Depp.. and Gwyneth Paltrow. :P

In languages with phonetically spelled words, like German or Spanish, children learn to spell in weeks instead of months or years as is sometimes the case with English, Mole said.

 

 

That point just reminded me of something. the difference between languages like German and Spanish, and English is that it's not so much the spelling that's messed up as the phonetics themselves in modern English.

 

Phonetic spelling will never trully catch on because of something called the "Great Vowel Shift". English has been messed up ever since. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Vowel_Shift
