no, I have never donated blood although I've considered the possibility of doing it.

It isn't popular in my country, 'cos they have to make advertisements about that asking the population to make some blood donations 'cos they don't have enough.

I've heard that in some coutries you can earn money for giving blood. How is it in Spain?

In Poland we become chocolates :D

Ah, now everything makes sense!!! You donate it 'cos they give you chocolates, huh? :P

no, here we don't earn money or otherwise loads of people would donate blood instantaneously!!! :laugh4: Anyway, they give you a little gift, such as juices, cookies, chocolates as well or keyring and so on. They have to motivate us a little bit! ;)

No, I donate because I can save somebody's life...

And there are very nice and kind people in my Local Blood Service. I go there with my friends and we spend really nice time there :) and we can save a life.. it's just great

They must give chocolates, because after loosing blood you must eat some sugar. ;)

I was only joking, I already presume you didn't donate blood 'cos of the chocolates and I believe it's good to do it thinking that you could save someone's life, really! ;)

yeah, I know that after losing blood you need to eat something, just for recovering.

I hope I will donate it soon.... 'cos my father used to do it!

i have never donated blood because i am not old enough... but i have had blood drawn before and it is the worst feeling ever my friend:\

we haev blood drives all over the place...sometimes the blood banks end up with too much blood :\...don't know what they do then. haven't done it yet cuz im not old enough, but i will when i am.

In uni a few months ago there was a campaign to donate blood but I couldn't because I was sick

I haven't and would not..or accept blood transfusions...that is ungodly!

Well, really, there are set backs and risks. You could even receive unwanted presents with your transfusion...disease!

There are so so many alternatives...look them up and avoid the risks.

well you have to make sure you don't have any diseases before they take blood out of you and they won't accept any blood from anyone who has a disease. i think med records are a must for this, they check them over and see if you're eligible. most *if not all* blood drives in the US make sure none of their donors have any kind of diseases :\

I can't donate blood. It's not that I'm not old enough--my blood is... kinda... defective, you can say, haha.

I would donate blood a lot, since I'm not afraid of needles or anything.

urghh, I'm not fond of needles, so any opportunity to stay away from needles is good with me. I don't like that weak feeling... I'm just imaging how it must feel then to have a lot of blood drawn from you :stunned:

heh, you might feel a little faint, and maybe kinda lightheaded... but that's it...

i know many ppl that donate blood

but i haven't try it yet

the needle is too big

Ungodly ?

why ?

Risk ?? What risk ?? There is no risk and no such possibility to recieve a disease or something. Completely no risk. I've donated a few times and I feel well.

The needle is big, but it doesn't hurt :)

No, it's not true. There is no such feeling after donation!!!

heh, there's a very small risk I believe. it's practically non-existent though, as you said.

and, donating blood as different effects on everyone. :P some could be a bit woozy after donating a pint, and some can feel exactly the same as they did prior... so... it depends on the person.

i've never donated blood before, i dont even know what my blood type is!!!

There is _always_ lack of blood. They need blood, especially rare groups like AB negative, 0 negative.. Summer is the worst time for hospitals, because there are many accidents and they need much blood... but not many people donate it during summer.

I've only given once but I'm AB so they always ask me to donate, but I haven't been able to because you have to wait a year after tattoos...well I actually can now...maybe I will before I get my next tattoo...
