Trouble elec.

Hey everyone,

well, I'm playing infront of a crowd soon, and the band is doin 'Trouble"...and well, I've got almost most of the electric guitar of the song....eg...the main bit...

but i'm stuck on what the electric guitar would do during the chorus, and also on the final verse, he (Jonny) does a slidish guitar, but I'm not entirely sure I know what I'm doing at that point.

Can someone tell me, either in tab form or anything else..

ALSO....

In "In My Place", during the final verse, the second half of it, Jonny does something with his guitar.... it sounds like he is just playing the highest (G, b, e) strings on his gtar, if he was playing the chords...but again, I'm not sure...

anyone know???

Thanks to all.

TROUBLE (ELECTRIC)

Tuning: EADGBD

Jonny uses a slide, so if you the end to sound good, get one.

-------------0--------------------0--------------------------------------

------------------0-------------------0----------------------------------

-------0---------------------0-------------------------------------------

--5---------------------2-------------------4b5b4b5b4b5b4b5b4----

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

In that confusing looking bit, just bend up and down. You'll hear it in the song. It sounds like cello's but Jonny plays it to.

At "So I turn to run...", start raking these chords slowly. You'll hear that in the song as well.

0---0---0---0---0---0

3---0---0---1---2---0

4---0---4---2---2---0

5---2---4---3---1---0

5---2---2---3---0---2

x---x---x----x---x---3

Chorus:

Live, Jonny plays the following but on the album, this part it fairly quiet. (Its completely stolen from the Pink Floyd song "Breathe")

--------0---------------------------------------------------0---0-----------0----------0-----------

------2----2------------2---------------2-----------------0--------0----------0----------0-------

----2-----------2------------2---------------2-----------0-------------0----------0----------0---

---2----------------2-------------2---------------2-----2------------------------------------------

--0------------------------------------------------------2-------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------0--------------------------------------------

Go back to this bit again:

-------------0--------------------0--------------------------------------

------------------0-------------------0----------------------------------

-------0---------------------0-------------------------------------------

--5---------------------2-------------------4b5b4b5b4b5b4b5b4----

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Put the slide on your finger now. In the verse it does this (w. slide)

---------------------------------------

---------------------------------------

-----11s---9s----7s---2----2s----4

---------------------------------------

---------------------------------------

---------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------

-----11s---9s----7s---14---14s--16----

---------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------

Chorus again. Play the chords in the chorus with your second, third, and fourth finger and keep the slide on your index.

Then after that:

12------7s/-------

12------7s/-------

12------7s/-------

12------7s/-------

--------------------

--------------------

On the seventh fret bit, slide down the neck to create that whammy effect.

Thats what Jonny plays live. You'll need some delay in their and a bit of reverb. Not too much with the delay as well. If you don't have the delay, the last bit will sound bad. Have fun. What guitar are you using?

IN MY PLACE

Jonny makes some slight variation live but not always.

-------12-------12--------------9---------9------

----------------------------12-------12-----------

-------------9-------9-----------------------------

----------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------

-------12-------12-----------------------9---------9--------

-----------------------12s14------12--------12--------10-

-------------9------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------

Chorus:

I've never seen this part tabbed correctly or at least in full. The books have a simplified version. Jonny strums it put keeps his hand rested on the bridge while doing so.

"Yeah..."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------7--7--7---7--7---------7---7-7----5---5--5--5--7--7-s9--9--9---9--10p9-9--9--

-------7---7--7---7--7---------7---7-7----6---6--6--7--7--7-s9--9--9---9--9------9--9--

------7----7--7---7--7---------7---7-7----7---7--7--7--7--7-s9--9--9---9--9------9--9--

-----9-----9--9---9--9---7h9-------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(x3)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----7----7--7---7--7--7---7-----7----------------------9---------------------

-----7----7--7---7--7--7---7-----7-------------7------------------------------

-----7----7--7---7--7--7---7-----7--------9--------9--------------------------

-----9----9--9---9--9--9---9-----9---------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then back to the main riff. This hardly changes. Sometimes live, Jonny adds in the sliding part in places but thats your choice.

In the second verse he does this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------10-----10------9------9----------9--------9-----9-------9---

---9--------9-------9--------9-------9---------9-------9-----9-------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

(x2)

Then the chorus again.

Now, on the part where its Jonny on his own, he just plays the main riff. Not much changes apart from again he adds some of the sliding parts in random places like I mentioned before. He also sometimes does this on one part. You should be able to figure out where. Its in most of the live versions

----------9----------10-----12--------12-------------------

---12---------12---------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------9--------9---------------

---------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------

I think thats everything. Just piece the parts toghether and if your confused about anything, let me know

improvisation should be able to tell you more about the effects pedals but I'd say some natural amp distortion and some subtle delay. in my place was recorded with a Gibson 335 so to get that sound you should use the middle pick up on you telecaster. for jonny's live sound he uses the neck pick up. whatever you prefer

Effects are a bit of reverb and just basic delay. Yea use the neck pickup on what ever guitfiddle you got. And if you dont have a bost pedal then just turn your amp up to the point to where it juuuuust barely starts to breakup just a hair and your good. And yea the chorus for in my place was really hard for me to get the strum pattern down to be honest. Just mess with it ive found that he just stums kind of what he feels like at the moment. Its not the same everytime.
