A newborn gorilla just a few hours old cuddles up to its mother away from the glare of visitors at the Rotterdam Blijdorp Zoo in the Netherlands.

The tiny cute creature is smaller than its mother's hand, but manages to find a warm and cosy spot on her chest to snuggle up to.

The baby - whose sex or name has not been disclosed - is the offspring of mother Aya and father Bokito and was born in the early hours of Thursday.
