flyinghorse
Hi everyone I have been working on a cover of Fix You, and having trouble working out the four-part harmony towards the end of the song. I thought my problems would be solved when I got the official sheet music, but very dissapointingly, the sheet music doesn't have the harmonies  So, is there anyone here who can help me? Perhaps someone with more musical competence than myself who has worked out the harmonies, or someone who has another version of the sheet music with the harmonies? frustrated but hopeful, Matt
DarthHawk125
From what I hear on the song, the harmonies arn't really harmonies. They all sing the same notes, just on different octaves. Im not sure about this, but try it and see if it sounds right.
flyinghorse
After listening again, it does sound like there's two voices singing the same melody separated by an octave, but there's definitely more going on on top of that too, and that's what's giving me grief... plus I realised that I can't sing the higher parts very well! Petra_coldplay
I'll take a listen also :) I always thought the four guys sang the same.
jonnybucklandhasnicehats
there are only two harmonies. but they are sung twice at different octaves. so kind of two part times two. the first one is the normal melody that chris sings which should be written in the sheet music. either guy or jonny backs up that melody. this is the harmony. will sings it live with either jonny or guy. you cna really hear the F note in the actual studio recording. Eb.....Eb........Eb......Eb....Eb....Eb.....Eb...Eb....Eb....F.......D.....D.........D........ tears stream down your face when you lose something you cannot replace. Eb.....Eb........Eb......Eb....Eb....Eb..Eb...C...Bb...G#....G....Eb...D tears stream down your face and i......e....i......e.......i......i.....i hope that works for u! Thanks for that, I didn't realise that the harmony was also doubled up in different octaves - I'll give it a go!
Myint
i'd really like to hear this one ... when will it be done ?

flyinghorse
I'm not really sure when it'll be done... I've been working on it in my spare time - which I don't have a lot of these days :( - for about two months and recorded a basic backing track. It's sort of a semi-a-cappella thing, with some guitar and sampled drums thrown in at the end. I can't really sing all that high, and I'm still getting to grips with recording/mixing, so I don't want to raise hopes by saying (a) when it will be finished (b) whether it'll be any good! Anyone else recorded any covers?

Petra_coldplay
Well hmm i didn't record own songs, yeah one. But that's a really sad one :) It's only piano and that's it. You can give your own feelings to it. And further I play everything i like :) If i like a classical piece i play that, and otherwise pop or coldplay etc :) It doesn't matter, i can play a little boogie also jazz etc :D So i'm pretty allround :) And you ? flyinghorse
Ooh, a somewhere near done version! Well, it's been a long time, but I've finally got round to uploading a version of my cover of Fix You, so here's a linky: http://sites.google.com/site/mehwzik/Home/Fix_You_v1.1.zip [6.51mb zip file] The singing is a bit suspect, especially after the first chorus, but I'm quite pleased with how it's come together so far. Thanks again for the help!
