Prince Charles and Camilla have bought their first home together - and will rent it out to holidaymakers.

He has bought a 192-acre estate in Carmarthenshire, Wales, where he and Camilla will stay in a cosy three-bedroom coachhouse. He paid between £800,000 and £1.2 million for the estate where the current owners have pioneered organic farming.

A Clarence House spokesman said: "The property will be used regularly by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall when they are in Wales. The property will be used as occasional holiday lets when the Prince and the Duchess are not there."

He confirmed that tourists renting the property would be able to use the same bedroom as the royal couple.

The estate is known as Llwynywormwood - translated as Wormwood Grove - in the village of Myddfai, near Llandovery.

It had a 13-bedroom house which is now a ruin but the modest coachhouse is described as "perfectly suitable for a couple who enjoy the countryside". The Prince wanted to buy a property in the Principality as a base for when he visits there.

The spokesman refused to discuss security implications and who would foot the bill.

He said: "The Duchy (of Cornwall) will be applying for planning permission to enable the property to be used as occasional holiday let when the Prince and Duchess are not there.

"His Royal Highness as Prince of Wales, has for some time been keen for the Duchy (of Cornwall) to purchase a property in Wales.

"There is some conversion work to be done subject to planning permission, including extending the existing house to provide more catering facilities and additional accommodation.

"The Duchy hopes to take advantage of local expertise when renovating the property, and it is also hoped that the renovation work could be used as an opportunity to train young people." The property comprises about 192 acres, 150 acres of which is grazing and parkland and around 40 acres of woodland. It also includes a walled garden and the remains of a lake within an 18th century former parkland.

Clarence House added that the Prince is not due to complete on the property until the spring.

Charles and Camilla's other residences are Clarence House in London, Highgrove in Gloucestershire and Birkhall near Balmoral.

Charles has been looking for property in Wales for more than two years and has often been criticised for not having a house there.

It's obviously a fake story, as everyone knows that Camilla lives in a stable, not a kennel!!:P
