Traffic Wardens

Featured Replies

What's your opinion of them? Do you think that theyre mean, money-grabbers or innocent people carrying out an important job? Have you had any nasty experiences with them? Would you want to do their job?

Are they called anything different in a different country, I heard they call them something quite fancy in America? I might be wrong though.

Bit random I know but hey! My friend had an argument with one today

They are just awesome people..what would we do without them.

But what do you mean by Traffic Warden...that title to me means someone who directs traffic at a intersection..or when the signals are not working..

and a Parking Officer deals with parking infringements....

Some Traffic Wardens are alright and will give you some slack, sadly those are dying out to be replaced by super-wardens who are jobsworth and will stick to the line, even ticketing you early, so that 1 out of every 5 tickets are rejected on appeal.

I have changed my mind, they are evil coniving little buggers!!!! :veryangry:

but I heard on the radio the other day, that if you contest your ticket, the councils will usually let you win....something to do with they cant be bothered to pay for legal costs...hmmmmm.

Yeah sounds like it could be possible.....

Oh, in the Uk we call 'parking officers' traffic wardens.

In the U.S. we call them douche bags...

^Hahaha....

It's like speeding tickets, if you get caught speeding and the notice arrives within the 14 days limit (if it comes on day 15, send it back saying "Out of Time", they don't have a leg to stand on), and you got caught by one of those mobile cameras, and you contest it, most of the time they will drop it, as they don't want it going to court & putting more dirt onto those speeding guns.

I shall quote from a book I got for christmas," for the speeding gun to legally give you a ticket it shall:

1 - Be calibrated on a daily basis (most police forces only calibrate it once a week at most)

2 - The operator to be fully trained

3 - For the camera to be held on a solid tri-pod style stand, to elimate operator error (who can forget the wall caught doing 50 mph)

4 - Photography proof for back-up (hence why fixed cameras have white lines pained at set intervals, so it's proof you were doing that speed, most mobile cameras don't have this proof.

Just remember the mobile speed camera wasn't designed to be a speed camera, but for a camera to measure distances between the operator and an object, all matter of tests can not hide this fact."

But back on topic, most councils will cancel the ticket if you complain unless they are 100% sure it will stand up in court, as you get dodgy wardens issuing tickets left, right and centre to meet his/her targets which don't officially exist but they do

If you park in the right places you shouldn't ever have to speak to one.

Not even to say "good morning" or "good afternoon"?
