Weight-watching walrus does sit-ups at seaworld

Many of us have new year resolutions to eat more healthily and get fit, and it seems animals are no different.

Trainers at SeaWorld in California, have been encouraging their star walrus 'Seehook', to shift the bulge by doing push-ups and sit-ups with his trainer.

But will Seehook keep to his new exercise regime, or gobble up shrimp on the sly?

More follows...

And the walrus isn't the only animal being put through his paces. 'Spinner', a six-year old border collie, is getting aerobic exercise by skipping with his trainer.

Meanwhile pigs at the zoo have changed their eating habits, dining on fresh fruit and watermelon, while dolphins and pilot whales have been weighing-in on a special scale to check their progress. The park's manatees are being fed leafy greens as part of their post-holiday diet.
