How does chris switch between tunings so fast?

Featured Replies

I'm watching the 2003 dvd on my computer and he uses the same guitar for shiver and see you soon. See You Soon has a wacky tuning which I assume Shiver doesn't have as well. I believe he also uses this guitar during AROBTTH and GPASUYF, which are right after one another and have different tunings as well. Does he have 4 of the same guitar or what?

I always just assumed it was the way they edited the DVD (i.e. cut out the gaps in between songs)

Wouldn't he have to play the guitar through the amps to actually hear what notes he had on the strings though? In the concert I went to they never did that.

If im right i think you can use a tuner pedal or effect to see wat note the guitar is playing without letting it output throught the amps and therfore tune the guitar that way

I think the guitar tecs do it, maybe I'm wrong. I'm just a silly fan girl

That must be it.

No lmao he really does have 4 of the same guitar. Do you guys not read the coldplay site?

haha, yeah....There's like back-ups of back-ups that are all tuned as required.

You can see them all lined up at gigs and hoppy's normally is playing about with one.

I laughed quite a bit when Chris' Vox Teardrop would just NOT tune up right. Hoppy (hate saying his name, really I do) was getting seriously pissed off. It was at the X&Y Album launch show. I got sick of hearing the first chords of Yellow played over and over again. I nearly chucked my camera at him.

Imagine, never having to worry about stringing a guitar again. Although I wouldn't feel right letting someone set all my stuff up and just trust that it'll be alright.
