Hotplay007
I'm starting to learn the piano and it's difficult as all get out. It's almost like I just want to give up on it totally. My music teacher told me that of course I'm not going to learn this overnight. I understand that. But, it's so difficult to learn the notes and measures. Any tips? It just feels like I'm getting no where. :\
"*"*Claire*"*"
I can't help you for the piano, but three months ago I started playing the electric guitar and at first it was frustrating 'cause I wasn't able to see any changings.. than after some times I noticed that I had bettered a lot ;)... Don't worry step by step you'll learn to play it very good!!:)

Fixed
Buy sheet music of bands you like, like Coldplay. You'll enjoy learning more if you're playing stuff you like. That's how I started. Get a big book of chords too with diagrams showing what keys make up each chord, handy when you're starting out. Try ultimate-guitar.net and look up tabs/chords and just play them on piano. If you want a bit of variety then look at how Tim Rice-Oxley plays piano for Keane, his style is quite different to a lot of other people, and plays piano like you would a guitar, and I don't just mean in terms of the sound he gets from it. And have fun.
King Payam
You have to look at the outcome of what you're doing. It may be hard right now, but after you learn how to play, you can start playing Coldplay tunes! I started playing piano when I was very young and eventually got bored of it and gave it up. I later picked it back up many years later to play Coldplay songs and stuff I'm more interested in. I still play classical pieces but it's stuff I like as opposed to boring stuff that someone is making me play. Keep at it and soon you'll be happy that you spent all that time learning. Pseudonym
Not to rub it in, but I never took a lesson and was able to play Amsterdam in 1 day, and Augustana's song Boston in a few days too. Im just pretty natural at it, but now Im taking lessons and it is kind of hard. just keep working.
