TWO teddy bears look down on the Earth after being launched to the edge of space on a weather balloon.

Schoolchildren aged 12 designed spacesuits out of foil and foam for the cuddly astronauts in a joint project with scientists.

A webcam strapped to the helium balloon captured the bears — named MAT and KMS — 19 miles above the Earth’s surface.

A parachute helped them land safely in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Cambridge University boffins asked nearby Parkside and Coleridge community colleges for help with the project.

Next year they aim to launch a rocket from a balloon to infinity and beyond — just like Toy Story hero Buzz Lightyear.
