The 2009 World Baseball Classic

Does anyone have any thoughts or predictions, or am I the only one here who's actually watching it?

I don't watch baseball, I just do fantasy baseball haha

Wow, that's a big help. :p

So how would you know how to draft your fantasy team if you didn't watch the games? The performance of players change every year.

By looking at baseball websites, analysing stats, etc.

Yeah, OK. That makes sense.

It's interesting, though, how you're interested in the sport without being interested enough to wathc the actual games. I guess it's because I've loved the sport from a young age.

well it was quite surprising that the Netherlands beat Dominc Republic... but wtf Mexico lost 17 to 7 with AUSTRALIA! NO offense to australians, but Australia, baseball? do they play with wallabies or what?!!!

I mean Mexico has a good league, and its close to the best league on the world, with some players there, and loose that way? :veryangry2:

The truth is that Australia was superior, Mexico changed like 8 times the pitcher, and no one could control Australia's attack

I was really shocked when the Dominican Republic lost to the Netherlands, but they are playing really good this year.

Yeah, my brother and I were quite shocked that the Netherlands pulled it off. It was quite an awesome upset, though. In all fairness, though...considering that all 3 of those runs were unearned (and therefore the DR's fault), the Netherlands didn't really do too much. They just pitched well enough to not give up any more runs than the Dominican allowed. :\

We were VERY surprised about the Australia-Mexico game. We had heard that Mexico was good...but MAN. Australia's got some sluggers on that team, not gonna lie. Also, when my brother told me that Mexico's pool was playing IN Mexico City...I felt REALLY bad for the Mexico fans. I really did. To get beat like that at home...not cool.

Mexico DID, however, beat South Africa last night 14-3, therefore eliminating them. :)

yeah they better redeem themselves with cuba, oh well dreaming is not bad at all is it?

Well the U.S. just got killed.

^ Indeed. :disappointed: It makes me mad that they couldn't even last 9 innings. I understand that it's Puerto Rico we're talking about, but STILL.

Now I have no choice but to hope they beat the Netherlands. They SHOULD, considering the Netherlands have practically NO offense, but their pitching is pretty darn good, so we'll see.

USA won last night.

I'm a Mets fan and David Wright (Mets player) hit a walk off single to win :D

Mets and Phillies are rivals

Yankees and Red Sox are rivals.

But when David won the game, it was very weird to see Mets, Phillies, Yankees and Red Sox players partying together when it happened.. Very bizarre lol xD

^ Ahhh, yeah, I caught the last few innings of that game. That was FANTASTIC. I was elated after Wright hit that single.

I did notice that this was the only time I think I'll ever see Red Sox fans rooting for Derek Jeter and Yankees fans rooting for Youkilis. It was awesome in a weird sort of way. :)
